Thispaper presents an experimental study to strengthen an existing bridge usingpre-stressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP) materials. The method using pre-stressed hybrid fiber reinforced polymer(HFRP) to strengthened structural members is an emerging pre-stressed strengtheningtechnology. In this study, experimental data selected from result of staticloading test conducted to hollow slabs with CFRP/GFRP has been compared with specimenswithout strengthening. Test results showed that the strengthening methoddeveloped in this study could effectively reduce the stress in hollow slab, improving the flexural rigidity and inhibiting the concrete from fracture.

This paper present the experimental result of flexural behavior of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Polymer (HFRP) concrete beams reinforced with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) rebars and steel bars. This experiment is conducted with the aim of replacing steel reinforcement with GFRP rebars to reduce the risk of corrosion of steel in concrete structures. The data presented in this study is obtained by conducting flexural test experiment on four beams of HFRP beams with various PVA fibre dosage of 0%, 0.25% and 0.5% and one Pure FRP beam. Fly ash is added by 25% in the mix as a mineral admixture to control the shrinkage cracks. The test result showed that by addition of PVA fibre in HFRP concrete enhance the mechanical properties of beam like deflections, ductility, load carrying capacity and flexural capacity. The optimum dosage of PVA fibre is 0.25%. which improve flexural strength by 200% and 31.1% and ductility increased by 112.2% and 55.12% as compared with Pure FRP beam and HFRP beam without PVA fibre.

There are numerous engineering applications where Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composite tubes are utilized, such as desalination plants, power transmission systems, and paper mill, as well as marine, industries. Some type of machining is required for those various applications either for joining or fitting procedures. Machining of GFRP has certain difficulties that may damage the tube itself because of fiber delamination and pull out, as well as matrix deboning. Additionally, short machining tool life may be encountered while the formation of powder like chips maybe relatively hazardous. The present paper investigates the effect of process parameters for surface roughness of glass fiber-reinforced polymer composite pipes manufactured using the filament winding process. Experiments were conducted based on the high-speed turning Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine using Poly-Crystalline Diamond (PCD) tool. The process parameters considered were cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut. Mathematical models for the surface roughness were developed based on the experimental results, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) has been performed with a confidence level of 95% for validation of the models.

In this study, the structural behavior of reinforced concrete flat plates shear reinforced with vertical grids made of a glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) was experimentally evaluated. To examine the shear strength, experiments were performed on nine concrete slabs with different amounts and spacings of shear reinforcement. The test results indicated that the shear strength increased as the amount of shear reinforcement increased and as the spacing of the shear reinforcement decreased. The GFRP shear reinforcement changed the cracks and failure mode of the specimens from a brittle punching to flexure one. In addition, the experimental results are compared with a shear strength equation provided by different concrete design codes. This comparison demonstrates that all of the equations underestimate the shear strength of reinforced concrete flat plates shear reinforced with GFRP vertical grids. The shear strength of the equation by BS 8110 is able to calculate the punching shear strength reasonably for a concrete flat plate shear reinforced with GFRP vertical grids.
