In the present paper the whole structure and the construction process of SPZ1300/48 gantry is introduced and the stability of the gantry under lifting process and transition process is also analyzed by some reliable finite element method software. By the analysis of the overall stability of the structure, taking into account the bad weather (strong winds) in the region, in the case of lifting process and after the segments placed, the optimal lifting sequence of the beam segments on account of the stability of the structure itself is obtained. By this way a useful sample for analysis of similar systems is provided, and then a technical foundation is established for bridge constructions by segmental assembling method for larger span or tonnage.

Slope stability analysis is one of the ancient tasks in the geotechnical engineering. There are two major methods; limit equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) that were used to analyze the factor of safety (FOS) to determine the stability of slope. The factor of safety will affect the remediation method to be underdesign or overdesign if the analysis method was not well chosen. This can lead to safety and costing problems which are the main concern. Furthermore, there were no statement that issued one of the analysis methods was more preferred than another. To achieve the objective of this research, the soil sample collected from landslide at Wang Kelian were tested to obtain the parameters of the soils. Then, those results were inserted into Plaxis and Slope/W software for modeling to obtain the factor of safety based on different cases such as geometry and homogenous of slope. The FOS obtained by FEM was generally lower compared to LEM but LEM can provide an obvious critical slip surface. This can be explained by their principles. Overall, the analysis method chosen must be based on the purpose of the analysis.

Based on the finite element theory, the computational model, one through concrete filled steel tube tied-arch bridge was established under the considerations of both geometrical non-linearity and material non-linearity. And using the ANSYS software to study the bridge's arch rib construction process and the overall stability after the complete construction, the results show that the full-bridge’s stability coefficient are larger than other concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge; the in-plane stiffness is larger than the out-plane stiffness, and the influence of material non-linearity on the stability is notable. The results provide a good reference for the similar bridge's design and construction.

This paper presents the results of a study on a joint slope deformation affecting the western slope of the GuangYang highway (YangQuan, China). Fieldwork identified the ongoing deformational process and assisted in defining its mechanisms, evolution and controlling factors. Here we discuss how to use limit equilibrium methods to calculate the behavior of slopes and to use the finite element analysis to evaluate the stability, displacements of slopes and soil-slope stabilization interaction. The finite element method with shear strength reduction (SSR) technique is explained in Phase2D. This method is effective for the prediction of the stability of slope. Based on numerical comparisons between the limit equilibrium methods and finite element method, it is suggested that the finite element method with SSR technique is a reliable and maybe unique approach to evaluate the slope stability. The paper also took into account effectiveness of the large rain and seismic load. The results of the numerical analysis are consistent with the observed slope surface evidence.

The target of basic plan is to choose part sizes with the ideal proportioning of the in general auxiliary geometry. Regular steel trapezoidal box-supports have been utilized generally in different designing fields. The target of this examination is to create three-dimensional limited component display for the size improvement of steel trapezoidal box-braces. The limited component programming bundle ANSYS was utilized to decide the ideal cross segment measurement for the steel trapezoidal-box support. Two target capacities were considered in this investigation which are: minimization of the strain vitality and minimization of the volume. The plan factors are the width of the best spine, the width of the base rib, the thickness of the best rib, the thickness of the base rib, the stature of the support and the thickness of the networks. The imperatives considered in this examination are the ordinary and shear worry in steel brace and the dislodging at mid-length of the support. Improvement consequences of steel brace show that the ideal territory of cross segment for the strain vitality minimization is more noteworthy than the ideal for volume minimization by 6 %. The base cross area is the financial structure, hence the volume minimization is more pertinence for steel brace advancement.

The objective of the paper is a static analysis of a desk construction and the determination of its probable mechanical behaviour using Finite Element Method. The construction was modelled and numerically analysed in Autocad Inventor 2011 and the stability of the entire desk was calculated with the size and placement of the loading force based on the standards and cited literature. Possible locations and directions of the deformation were analysed and a solution for its prevention was proposed and the stability of the desk as well as the extreme position of the stand were calculated. The verification of the obtained results in an accredited furniture testing lab is planned using a prototype of the office desk.

The convection-controlled diffusion problem is hyperbolic in nature and its solutions tend to have numerical shocks. To solve the problem of time dependence, it is common to use finite-element method in the spatial region, while the algorithm proposed in the past with finite differential procedure is mostly limited to the fixed finite-element grid of the spatial region. We often need to use different finite-element spaces at different times, such as the spread of flame, oil and water frontier problems; so many mathematicians and engineers have set their sights on the use of dynamic finite-element space, but also put across a lot of dynamic finite-element methods in giving the general parabola problem of the variable-mesh finite-element method. The principal purpose of this paper is to adopt different spatial grids for different time layers, and project the approximate solution of the previous time layer to the present time layer to act as the initial value of the current layer to enable us deduce the stability at discrete times.

As a part of natural geography systems, rock slopes have treasured amount of natural resources potential. The rock materials could be utilized to fulfill several needs, especially to construct buildings. However, society sometimes have taken advantages from the slope’s existence in wrong ways. The exploitations toward rock materials, either through manual or modern way (blasting) have caused some cracks occurred. These cracks have reduced the stability of rock slopes and easily triggered failures on rock slopes. In this paper, the stability of a rock slope will be precisely discussed by using Geological Strength Index (GSI) and was analyzed by using finite element method. The rock samples were taken from Pangkalan (West Sumatera, Indonesia), which this location is also vulnerable to rock slope failures. Geological Strength Index was obtained by doing manual observations on rock sample’s properties, i.e. joint, cracks, and discontinuity. The result was consisted of rock’s properties. Meanwhile, the analysis by using finite element method produced an outcome in form of safety factor. This result could be made as a reference for pre-disaster mitigation in Pangkalan.
