The limit equilibrium method for rigid body is used to analyze the stability of subgrade reservoir bank slope of granite stained. The sliding of subgrade reservoir bank slope reinforced by dynamic compaction along the interface will not be happened. In the most unfavorable conditions , the sliding surface will be formed inside the stained subgrade, which threatened to the safety operation of the expressway.

Based on finite element analysis software ANSYS, slope stability analysis is carried out by Elastic limiting equilibrium method proposed in this paper. A series of sliding surface of the slope can be assumed firstly, and then stress field along the sliding surface is analyzed as the slope is in elastic state. The normal and tangential stresses along each sliding surface can be obtained, respectively. Then the safety factor for each slip surface can be calculated, the slip surface which the safety factor is smallest is the most dangerous sliding surface. This method is different from the previous limit equilibrium method. For the previous limit equilibrium method, the normal and tangential stresses along the sliding surface are calculated based on many assumptions. While, the limit equilibrium method proposed in this paper has fewer assumptions and clear physical meaning.

The reliability theory based analysis is more advanced and reasonable compared with the traditional methods for slope stability analysis. Limit equilibrium method is usually used to evaluate the stability of a slope. In this paper, a new reliability analysis method is obtained based on JC method and multi sliding surface method which a new limit equilibrium method developed by Huang. Then, this new method is applied for a wharf slope. The sliding surface get from the safety factor is not the same as that from reliability index though they are close to each other. The safety factor or reliability index get from Fellenius method is smaller than that from other method. The safety factor or reliability index get from multi sliding surface method is close to that from Bishops method. The reliability index can be more reasonable after the standard deviation of the soil property index is deduced with random field theory.

The traditional limit equilibrium method in the analysis of slope stability not only exists some subjective empirical hypothesis that can not meet the equilibrium of force and moment, but also ignores the effects of internal stress and strain on the slope stability. Furthermore, in the stability of the slope evaluation, limit equilibrium method relies too much on experience when hypothesizing the slope slip surface. So that it makes deviation on slope analysis and stability evaluation. This paper is based on simplified Bishop method used to establish the model of slope stability analysis. And it used genetic algorithms to solve the minimum safety factor and the most dangerous slip surface of slope. It was the arithmetic which simulates organisms genetic evolutionary process and it avoided the traditional methods falling into the local extreme value point easily and error propagation leading to convergence. The algorithm had advantages of higher accuracy, quick convergence and applicability. It showed that the genetic algorithm is accurate and reliable in the analysis of slope stability.

The instability of reservoir slope is likely to cause some severe natural hazards such as surge and barrier lake. In this study, the changes in seepage field and the distribution of the unsaturated zone of a reservoir bank slope subjected to rapid water-level fluctuations are investigated using the finite element method. The stability analysis of a reservoir slope under water-level fluctuation with a rate of 2 m/day is performed. The stability analysis is based on the theory of unsaturated soil mechanics and saturated-unsaturated seepage and accounts for the hydromechanical coupling effect. The changes in shear stress and strain as well as pore water pressure due to rapid water-level fluctuations are explicitly examined. Furthermore, the stability factor of safety, the underlying failure mechanism, and relevant influence factors are discussed. Based on the finite element analysis, it is found that the rapid loss of matrix suction would give rise to the surface landslide near the slope toe.

Amending the normal stress over the slip surface based on the stress field by numerical analysis, applying the three-dimensional global limit equilibrium method to the stability analysis of tension-slackened rock mass in the right bank of Yagen hydropower station. Stability analysis shows that if do not take any measures, the loose rock mass stability can cater to the Specification demand, but some small sliders is in the limit state under the water and earthquake condition, if use the cutting slope and unloading scheme, the whole loose rock mass and the all small sliders can meet the Specification standard stability requirements.

The safety is first-class important event of the dam. The crash for the gravity dam usually causes due to slid, the slippery stable is a key problem of big dam. This paper checks the stability of one dam by rigid body limit equilibrium method and finite element technique. Rigid body limit equilibrium method is a kind of traditional stable analytical method, which is confirmed by factual engineering, the safe coefficient is always used to judge the big dam safety degree. The finite element technique is a method which is quickly developed in the calculator science and the basic theories of the rock soil mechanics. The paper compares the two methods and makes sure the fact that the finite element is more reasonable than rigid body limit equilibrium method for analyzing the stability of gravity dam.

Rock bolt crane girder is a structure form which is widely used in the underground powerhouse of hydropower station. It makes reinforced concrete anchored in the underground powerhouse rock using anchor rod, and makes the reinforced concrete, anchor rod and surrounding rock work together to resist the load. Stability has been a common problem in the realm of engineered construction. This article will analysis the stability of the rock bolt crane girder in a underground powerhouse of hydropower station by using the traditional rigid body limit equilibrium method and the finite element method, and give several destroying forms. The results show that the rigid body limit equilibrium method is flawed, need to be corrected; In overload cases, the contact surface of girder and rock crack, it turns the damage to the bottom O point at the end; When it is simulated by the strength storage method, the crane girder's shear yield slips the damage along the base.

In order to monitor landslide risk, GeoStudio software is frequently applied to landslide stability analysis. In this paper, Juting landslide in Shanxi was subjected by GeoStudio software, while limit equilibrium method was adopted to calculate the landslide stability in the slip surface. The solutions of stress and displacement vector were gotten through SIGMA / W module on the landslide for finite element method in sliding surface stress analysis. And it was also used to import the results obtained in SIGMA / W module into SLOPE / W module to calculate safety factor and the potential sliding surface. The result shows that the calculated safety factors which are worked out by those two ways are close to each other, and limit equilibrium method can be used in landslide stability analysis, but the finite element method is more consistent with the actual situation. GeoStudio software can calculate landslide stability coefficient conveniently, and can express potential slip surface intuitively, providing reliable foundation for landslide stability analysis.

The main purpose of the gravity dam stability analysis is to examine the stability safety in all possible load combination cases. Combined with the engineering example, the method of modeling , loading and analysis for the gravity dam by ansys is introduced in this paper, then the limit equilibrium method and the strength reserve method are adopt to calculate the safety factor under two conditions. The results indicate that the two safety factors which are calculated under two conditions can all satisfy the standard requirement; it is reasonable to analyze the gravity dam stability through two methods.

The stability of slope in open-pit affects the economic benefits and safety production of mining enterprises. From the two aspects of internal factors and external factors, this paper analyses the factors affecting the slope stability of open-pit, discusses the basic theory of slope stability analysis, and puts forward the criterion of slope stability based on the safety coefficient. The limit equilibrium method is chosen to analyze the stability of the high and steep slope of open-pit in this paper, and the SLIDE software is used for numerical simulation according to the actual slope model of certain open-pit. The simulation results show that the slope safety coefficient of the instance is 1.01, which is unstable slope. When the number of the slope blocks is more than 40, the safety coefficient tend to be stable. Blasting vibration has a great influence on slope stability. The results of slope stability analysis provide a scientific guidance for the prevention and control of the slope instability.
