Very important cutting tool property is its durability. Durability of cutting tool defines lifetime of this cutting tool and it determines its suitability for select technological operation. Technical science defines a lot of different factors, that they may be cause of shorter cutting tool lifetime. For increase cutting tool durability is necessary maximally possible elimination of these factors. Determination of cutting tool durability is very important, because provides comprehensive information how to determine appropriate technological conditions for selected cutting tool. In engineering is for determination of cutting tools durability used T-vc dependence. The article describes process how to create durability dependence for cutting tools made of sintered carbide by means of T-vc dependence in machining process of steel 100CrMn6.

Specification cutting tools durability made of cutting ceramic in machining process of steel 80MoCrV4016 is very important for economics of small and medium-sized enterprises, because cutting tool durability is factor that significantly affects the budget of these enterprises. This problematic is determined for small and medium-sized manufacturers of bearings, because steel 80MoCrV4016 is most commonly used for production of bearings. The article describes process how to create durability dependence for cutting tools made of sintered carbide in machining process of 16MoV6-3 by means of T-vc dependence.

Technical practice uses a lot of cutting tools made of different materials. According to selecting workpiece have to be defined technological conditions. For all selected technological conditions is important prescribe parameters for machining. The basic parameters for every cutting process are cutting speed, feed and cutting depth. These technological conditions are defined by means of calculation or by means of mechanical engineering tables. Specification of tool wear by means of calculation is very difficult. These instructions, how to proceed in experiments are obtained in standard ISO 3685. Very important and often used standard ISO in engineering practice is standard ISO 3685. The main part of this standard is T-vc dependence for cutting materials. In standard ISO 3685 are included cutting materials made of high speed steel, sintered carbide and cutting ceramic. The article describes process how to define and to analytically express T-vc dependence for cutting tools made of ceramic in machining process of steel 80MoCrV4016.

This problematic is determined for small and medium-sized manufacturers of bearings, because steel 100Cr6 is most commonly used for production of bearing rings 100 mm in diameter. This material is usable for actuator (actuators and reduction gears) too. Description of cutting ceramic durability could mean for bearings manufacturer determination of optimal cutting parameter with maximum possible use of tool lifetime. Standard ISO 3685 contains instructions how to create T-vc dependence for cutting tools made of cutting ceramic. In this standard are only instructions how to create T-vc dependence according to Taylor. The article compares T-vc dependencies for various cutting ceramics (Al2O3, Al2O3+ZrO2, Al2O3+TiCN) with T-vc dependence defined in standard ISO 3685, because this standard describes T-vc dependence for all entered cutting materials together.

The tool-wear of cutting tools has a very strong impact on the product quality as well as efficiency of the machining processes. Despite the nowadays high automation level in machining industry, tool -wear diagnostic that is measured of the machine tool, still prevent complete automation of the entire machining process. Therefore, its in line characterization is crucial. Thus the paper presents developed innovative, robust and reliable direct measuring procedure for measuring spatial cutting tool-wear in-line, with the usage of laser profile sensor. The technique provides possibility for determination of 3D wear profiles, as advantage to currently used 2D subjective techniques (microscopes, etc.). The use of proposed measurement system removes the subjective manual inspection and minimizes the time used for wear easurement. In the manuscript the system is experimentally tested on a case s tudy, with further in-depth performed analyses of spatial cutting tool-wear.

In this paper, based on finite element simulation software AdvantEdge, the effects of different coating materials and thickness on the wear of cutting tools during the machining process have been studied. For the tools with coating materials of TiAlN, Al2O3, TiN, TiC, we can calculate the wear rate according to the Usui mathematical model of tool wear, and then consider thickness factor of TiC coating. Because of the lowest thermal conductivity, the workpiece cut by TiC coated tool will soften first and more over cutting time, it result in the lowest wear rate. And with the increase of coating thickness, the effect of "thermal barrier" is more obvious for the relatively thicker coating tool, but the relative sliding velocity between the chip and tool is increasing meanwhile, so a suitable coating thickness is necessary.
