As an efficient and environment-friendly energy, natural gas has become an inevitable choice for improving environment, achieving the low carbon economy and the sustainable development all around world. However, flow resistance produced in the course of the gas pipeline transportation caused large loss of transportation energy and brought down the transportation capacity. Therefore, this paper have developed a deep researches on the interaction mechanism between a drag reduction agent (DRA) and the inner surface of natural gas pipeline, the flow pattern improvement regularity about DRA membrane acting on the near-wall region of the pipeline, the relation between the flow pattern improvement and friction resistance, the effect regularity of DRA on the friction coefficient of the pipeline inner surface, and the relation between the alternation of the friction coefficient and the drag reduction. According to all above studies, the fundamental reason for flow resistance of the gas transportation has been found, and the drag reduction mechanism of the gas pipeline transportation has also been hold of. Field test shows that the application of the DRA in the course of the gas pipeline transportation reduced the friction loss by 12%-16.5%, and raised the transfer efficiency by 8%-12%.

Pipeline transportation is the major way to transport natural gas. How to reduce energy dissipation and retain the gas delivery capacity are the main problems of pipeline transportation. In this article, a new drag reduction agent named CPA is synthesized. An experimental investigation on the roughness-reducing effect of CPA on the inner surface of the pipeline is carried out. The effect of CPA on natural gas flow regime in the near-wall region of the pipeline is researched with Fluent software. Field tests for calculating the drag reduction rate of CPA are performed. The results show that CPA can reduce the roughness of the inner surface effectively, and the maximum roughness-reducing percentage is 38.74%. Meanwhile, CPA can reduce the frictional drag and thereby improve transportation capacity of pipelines. After injecting CPA, the streamline of the natural gas in the near-wall region is more consistent. The velocity fluctuation decreases by 93.2%. The mean turbulence intensity decreases by 53.01%. The pipeline pressure further decreases the roughness of the inner surface of the pipeline. The field test shows that the maximum drag reduction rate of CPA is 25%, and it is suitable for application in gathering and transportation pipelines of high flow velocity and turbulent rough region.

Intensive study on flowing properties of two-phase fluid of gas and liquid during pipeline pigging helps to improve the safety operation of rich gas pipeline. Therefore, based on the multiphase fluid transient simulation software, a two-fluid model is employed to study the flowing regulation of gas and liquid in practical operation of natural gas pipeline pigging,especially the change rule of velocity,flow pattern, pressure, liquid holdup ratio, and liquid slug in the passing ball process. The results reveal that three flow patterns appeared in pipeline pigging. They are stratified flow, slug flow and bubble flow. The place where the particular flow pattern appears is related to the terrain. The biggest pressure is found at the entrance, then pressure comes down along the pipeline, and fluctuate according to the fluid amount and terrain; the transient velocity of pig is coherent with the terrain and liquid holdup ratio; small slug flows are easy to gather and form into a longer one. The research can somehow guide to the safety operation of natural gas pipeline pigging.

With the completion of the second line project of West-East Gas Transmission in 2011, the third line of West-East Gas Transmission will be started soon and the fourth line and the fifth line will be started in recent five years. China will form one of the largest natural gas pipeline network in the world. The gas supply mode will be changed from single gas source and single-pipeline supply to multi-source and multi-pipeline supply through regulation and coordination, which will impact on existing pricing mechanism and operation mode of Chinese natural gas industry violently. Depending on the development trend of natural gas pipeline network, the regionalization management mode of natural gas pipeline will be implemented gradually. Chinese natural gas industry also needs to develop a new-type market-oriented operation mode with clear interfaces between production, transportation, distribution and customers so as to facilitate the optimal allocation of resources. By the customized scientific research of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), combining with existing pricing mechanism of natural gas pipeline and economic characteristics of long-distance natural gas pipeline transportation in China, the paper studied the pricing mechanism problem of combined transportation of multi-source and mutli-pipeline gas supply in the regionalization management mechanism, presented the idea of pricing formulation method of two kinds of pipeline network transportation based on standard rates of pipeline transportation and service cost rules, formed pricing formulation system of natural gas pipeline transportation, introduced the design idea, structural construction, distribution method and key points of natural gas pipeline transportation in details, and demonstrated the methods by example calculation. The methods presented in the paper can meet the pricing requirements of natural gas pipeline network transportation, remedy the defect in existing price accounting mechanism, solve the problem that the income and expenses among different interest bodies are not balanced, and facilitate the rapid development of natural gas pipeline business.
