In electric power system, relay protection system can powerfully safeguard secure and stable operation of the first circuit equipment; it’s an important task to ensure reliable operation of protection system. Research on reliability of it now arises much attention at home and abroad. The paper carries out detailed research survey on reliability of relay protection system, which contains AC input circuit, digital relay protection equipment and operation output circuit. In general it also contains automatic equipment and telecommunication network etc. It belongs to repairable system; state-space method and fault-tree method are main analysis methods. Each protection has its own principle and structure, the modeling of which is different. The paper discusses the reliability modeling and index system of protection system from three aspects, whose failure models are hardware and software construction, main protection and backup protection construction and construction with relation to operation mode of power system. With the vigorous development of DG in smart grid, the prospects of reliability evaluation of wide area adaptive protection system are presented.

With the integration of highly permeable renewable energy to the grid at different levels (transmission, distribution and grid-connected), the volatility on both sides (source side and load side) leading to bidirectional power flow in the power grid complicates the control mechanism. In order to ensure the real-time power balance, energy exchange, higher energy utilization efficiency and stability maintenance in the electric power system, this paper proposes an integrated application of blockchain technology on energy routers at transmission and distribution networks with increased renewable energy penetration. This paper focuses on the safe and stable operation of a highly penetrated renewable energy grid-connected power system and its operation. It also demonstrates a blockchain-based negotiation model with weakly centralized scenarios for “source-network-load” collaborative scheduling operations; secondly, the QoS (quality of service) index of energy flow control and energy router node doubly-fed stability control model were designed. Further, it also introduces the MOPSO (multi-objective particle swarm optimization) algorithm for power output optimization of multienergy power generation; Thirdly, based on the blockchain underlying architecture and load prediction value constraints, this paper puts forward the optimization mechanism and control flow of autonomous energy coordination of b2u (bottom-up) between router nodes of transmission and distribution network based on blockchain.

Relay protection devices for safe and stable operation of the power system plays a vital role. In this thesis, the transformer protection principles, in-depth analysis of the various protection principles and constitutes a transformer, transformer protection built digital simulation model protection methods, and transformers of various simulation models for simulation analysis, the study showed that a new type of power system protection technology can effectively guarantee the safety performance of the power transmission system.

In the modern conditions of the development of the electric power complex, relay protection and automation devices play a special role related to protection against possible damage resulting from violations of normal operating modes, both of individual elements and the entire power system as a whole. This, in turn, directly affects the reliable and stable functioning of the main power elements and electrical equipment. Damage to the power part of the equipment of an electric grid complex can be caused by changes in the main parameters of the normal mode: a change (increase) in currents leads to overloads and, in the limit, to short circuits, a decrease in voltage leads to an avalanche of voltage and disruption of the operation of electric motors connected to the damaged section, and an increase in voltage leads to overvoltages in certain sections. In addition, violations associated with a decrease in the transmitted active power lead to a change in frequency, and a violation of the reactive power balance leads to a change in voltage in certain sections, which generally leads to noncompliance with the power balance and loss of stable operation of the power system. The main reasons for failures in operation, false and excessive triggering of microprocessor relay protection devices are considered. The main ways of solving the problem of electromagnetic compatibility in the electric power industry are identified. A solution is proposed to improve the reliability of the operation of microprocessor relay protection devices and the way of development of the problem of electromagnetic compatibility in the electric power industry is shown.

This paper analysis the formation conditions of isolated power system, its influencing factors, revealing the operation mode, automatic safety device, generator protection regulation characteristics and these factors to stable operation of isolated power system. The dynamic models for isolated power system with generating unit of medium and small capacity are proposed in the paper to meet the need of the applicable ones to study their dynamic characteristics. The differences between isolated and the interconnected power system in the frequency characteristics are proposed and consider into low-frequency load shedding scheme and optimization methods that can meet both isolated and the interconnected power system frequency stability requirements. Not only more proper control strategy of units but their evaluation indexes are suggested to improve performance and achieve stability in islanded power system.

This paper analyzes operation problems of medium voltage switchgear cabinet in the electric power system. According to the international standards of IEC 61850, model the new arc protection device on the bus and analysize the relationship of abstract communication serivce inferface (ACSI) mapping to manufacturing message specification (MMS). Finally, MMS PDU formation and decoding are described specifically based on ASN.1 encoding rules.

Protection is a safety in the electric power system installed in the electric power distribution system, power transformer, electric power transmission, and electric generator used to secure the power system electricity from electrical disturbances or overloads by separating the disturbed parts of the electric power system from the undisturbed electrical power system so that the undisturbed electrical system can continue to work. The protection system at the T75B substation has a work failure where when there is a short circuit on the consumer side, it causes the PMT (Power Breaker) for the Malibu Feeder at the Kebon Sirih Substation to trip while the CBO (Circuit Breaker Outgoing) cubicle at the T75B substation does not trip. This resulted in an unexpected widespread blackout. To find out the cause of the failure of the protection system, several tests and analyzes were carried out, namely protection design testing, protection relay coordination testing, protection system construction analysis, protection equipment performance testing. It is hoped that the test results can be used as a reference for improvement so that similar failures do not recur.
