Iron loss will be rapidly increased when the permanent magnet iron core synchronous motor runs at a high speed, which makes the motor produce so much heat that causes low efficiency of the motor and even burns out the motor. The iron-core-free permanent magnet synchronous motor remedies this defect and has a high efficiency at high speed. This article makes a comparative analysis on the iron-core-free permanent magnet synchronous motor torque density with different slot engagement classifications. The paper puts forward an optimized model of permanent magnet synchronous motor without the iron core. The technology of the permanent magnet synchronous motor without iron core is studied based on this model which provides a method to design and manufacture the iron-core-free permanent magnet synchronous motor.

This study focuses on the core losses in the stator region of high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motors, magnetic field characteristics in the load region, and variations in iron losses caused by changes in these areas. A two-pole 120 kW high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor is used as the object of study, and a two-dimensional transient electromagnetic field-variable load circuit combined calculation model is established. Based on electromagnetic field theory, the electromagnetic field of the high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor under multi-load conditions is calculated using the time-stepping finite element method. The magnetic field distribution of the high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor under a multi-load condition is obtained, and the variations in iron core losses in different parts of the motor under multi-load conditions are further analyzed. The calculation results show that most of the stator iron core losses are dissipated in the stator yoke. The stator yoke iron loss under the no-load condition exceeds 70% of the total stator iron core loss. The stator yoke iron loss under rated operation conditions exceeds 50% of the total stator iron core loss. The stator loss under rated load operation conditions is higher than that under no-load operation. These observations are sufficient to demonstrate that the running status of high-speed motors is closely related to the stator iron losses, which have significance in determining the reasonable yoke structure of high-speed and high-power motors and the cooling methods of motor stators.

Bearingless permanent magnet synchronous motor (BPMSM) combines the characteristic of the conventional permanent magent synchronous motor and magnetic bearing in one electric motor. BPMSM is a kind of high performance motor due to having both advantages of PMSM and magnetic bearing with simple structure, high efficiency, and reasonable cost. The research on BPMSM is to design and analyse BPMSM by using Maxwell 2-Dimensional of ANSYS Finite Element Method (FEM). Independent suspension force model and bearingless PMSM model are developed by using the method of suspension force. Then, the mathematical model of electromagnetic torque and radial suspension force has been developed by using Matlab/Simulink. The relation between force, current, distance and other parameter are determined. This research covered the principle of suspension force, the mathematical model, FEM analysis and digital control system of bearingless PMSM. This kind of motor is widely used in high speed application such as compressors, pumps and turbines.

High-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is more and more widely applied in high precision processing and high-performance machines. It is very important to research practical control strategy for the stability operation of the high-speed PMSM. The strategy of sensorless grey prediction fuzzy direct torque control (DTC) is proposed which is suitable for high-speed PMSM control system. The method of prediction fuzzy control based on DTC is used to gain the flux, torque and flux oriented angle through the prediction model of the motor parameters. The best control scheme is gained by fuzzy reasoning to overcome the lag on the system making the adjustment process stable and realizing accurate predictive control. Thereby, the dynamic response of the system, anti-disturbance capability and control accuracy can be improved.

In an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor, an adhesive such as bond is generally injected into the magnet tolerance to prevent vibration of the permanent magnet within the insertion space. In this case, a disadvantage is that the magnet tolerance does not contribute to the performance. In this paper, ferrofluid is inserted to improve the torque density, utilizing the magnet tolerance. When inserting ferrofluid into the magnet tolerance, it is important to fix the magnet because conventional adhesives are not used, and it is important that the ferrofluid does not act as a leakage path within the insertion space. In this study, a new rotor configuration using a plastic barrier that satisfies these considerations was introduced. The analysis was conducted through finite element analysis (FEA), and this technique was verified by comparing the simulation results and the experimental results through a dynamo test. It was confirmed that the no-load back electromotive force in the final model increased through ferrofluid injection.

The control of permanent magnet synchronous motor has become an important research, and many control methods have been developed because of its high efficiency and energy-saving characteristics. This article proposes a new motor control approach based on synergetic approach in control theory (SACT) and sliding-mode control (SMC). Since the load torque of the motor will change, the moment of inertia will increase in the experiment. The load torque is estimated by the sliding-mode observer. The moment of inertia is calculated by the least squares method by adding a forgetting factor. The practical application of synergetic control theory broadens the train of thought to meet the demand of high-performance motor drive further. The simulation and experimental results show that this control scheme in this article can improve the transient response and system robustness of dynamic systems.
