The paper establishes the evolutionary mechanism model of agile supply chain network by means of complex network theory which can be used to describe the growth process of the agile supply chain network and analyze the complexity of the agile supply chain network. After introducing the process and the suitability of taking complex network theory into supply chain network research, the paper applies complex network theory into the agile supply chain network research, analyzes the complexity of agile supply chain network, presents the evolutionary mechanism of agile supply chain network based on complex network theory, and uses Matlab to simulate degree distribution, average path length, clustering coefficient, and node betweenness. Simulation results show that the evolution result displays the scale-free property. It lays the foundations of further research on agile supply chain network based on complex network theory.

This article puts forward the practical significance of studying the complex characteristic of coal logistics network from the coal resource effective utilization and rational allocation. According to the characteristics of coal enterprises, the coal logistics network is defined as the complex network system. Based on the complex system theory of the supply chain, the coal logistics network is analysed separately from the complexity of node and structure, the small word property as well as the scale-free property and it is pointed out that the coal network has complex network structure, the small world property and the scale-free property.

Supply chain network is a complex giant system and its complexity determined by the structure of network. A new security analysis method of supply chain network is proposed in this paper , which concentrate on the topology structure security of networks based on complex network theory. According to the complexity of network topology and its kinetic characteristics, we found that the growth of supply networks with scale-free properties, which is robustness on the random attack, but fragile on the selected attack. This paper propose two options to improve supply chain network survivability, the one is to protect these core enterprises; the other is the formation of local alliance between enterprises.

Globalization and outsourcing are two main factors which are leading to higher complexity of supply chain networks. Due to the strategic importance of having a sustainable network, it is necessary to have an enhanced supply chain network risk management. In a supply chain network many firms depend directly or indirectly on a specific supplier. In this regard, unknown risks of network’s structure can endanger the whole supply chain network’s robustness. In spite of the importance of risk identification of supply chain network, firms are not willing to exchange the structural information of their network. Firms are concerned about risking their strategic positioning or established connections in the network. The paper proposes to combine secure multiparty computation cryptography methods with risk identification algorithms from social network analysis to address this challenge. The combination enables structural risk identification of supply chain networks without endangering firms’ competitive advantage.

The resilience and vulnerability of airport networks are significant challenges during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Previous studies considered node failure of networks under natural disasters and extreme weather. Herein, we propose a complex network methodology combined with data-driven to assess the resilience of airport networks toward global-scale disturbance using the Chinese airport network (CAN) and the European airport network (EAN) as a case study. The assessment framework includes vulnerability and resilience analyses from the network- and node-level perspectives. Subsequently, we apply the framework to analyze the airport networks in China and Europe. Specifically, real air traffic data for 232 airports in China and 82 airports in Europe are selected to form the CAN and EAN, respectively. The complex network analysis reveals that the CAN and the EAN are scale-free small-world networks, that are resilient to random attacks. However, the connectivity and vulnerability of the CAN are inferior to those of the EAN. In addition, we select the passenger throughput from the top-50 airports in China and Europe to perform a comparative analysis. By comparing the resilience evaluation of individual airports, we discovered that the factors of resilience assessment of an airport network for global disturbance considers the network metrics and the effect of government policy in actual operations. Additionally, this study also proves that a country’s emergency response-ability towards the COVID-19 has a significantly affectes the recovery of its airport network.

PurposeThis research studies a location-allocation problem considering the m/m/m/k queue model in the blood supply chain network. This supply chain includes three levels of suppliers or donors, main blood centers (laboratories for separation, storage and distribution centers) and demand centers (hospitals and private clinics). Moreover, the proposed model is a multi-objective model including minimizing the total cost of the blood supply chain (the cost of unmet demand and inventory spoilage, the cost of transport between collection centers and the main centers of blood), minimizing the waiting time of donors in blood donating mobile centers, and minimizing the establishment of mobile centers in potential places.Design/methodology/approachSince the problem is multi-objective and NP-Hard, the heuristic algorithm NSGA-II is proposed for Pareto solutions and then the estimation of the parameters of the algorithm is described using the design of experiments. According to the review of the previous research, there are a few pieces of research in the blood supply chain in the field of design queue models and there were few works that tried to use these concepts for designing the blood supply chain networks. Also, in former research, the uncertainty in the number of donors, and also the importance of blood donors has not been considered.FindingsA novel mathematical model guided by the theory of linear programming has been proposed that can help health-care administrators in optimizing the blood supply chain networks.Originality/valueBy building upon solid literature and theory, the current study proposes a novel model for improving the supply chain of blood.

At the background of archives blog on Internet, this paper constructs a directed complex network model, and analyzes the network characters such as degree distribution. To verify its efficiency, we collect blogs’ information and set up a complex network..From the analysis result of the simulation and demonstration network, we know that they have the same characters, which show that, the virtual society network has small-world effect and scale-free character compared with real society network. The results indicate that the establishment of archives blog is favor to spread rapidly archives information, improve information sharing efficiency and promote the development of archives technology.

Military SoS increasingly shows its relation of complex network. According to complex network theory, we construct a SoS network topology model for network warfare simulation. Analyzing statistical parameters of the model, it is concluded that the topology model has small-world, high-aggregation and scale-free properties. Based on this model we mainly simulate and analyze vulnerability of the network. And this provides basis for analysis of the robustness and vulnerability of real battle SoS network.
