Based on the resource-based cities, we could establish a comprehensive evaluation index system. Principal component analysis (PCA) model is perfect to such evaluation. It can eliminate the related influence between evaluation indexes and reduce the workload of evaluation. The paper applied the principal component analysis to Baotou city and other 5 western resource-based cities so as to make a comprehensive evaluation about sustainable development ability. The results show that the sustainable development ability of Baotou city from2003 to 2012 is a fluctuated improving trend. And it ranks fourth in the selected western resource-based cities. The issue about the way to improve the sustainable development ability of resource-based cities is discussed in this paper.

Taking Pingdingshan City , Henan Province as an example, this paper discusses the evaluation method of sustainable development of resource-based cities. Combining the methods of scientific and practical, typical and comparable, dynamic and operable, comprehensive and hierarchical, taking AHP comprehensive evaluation as the foundation, from resource support ability, environment support ability, social support ability, and economic support ability, this evaluation method choose 47 index to evaluate the sustainable development of resource-based cities. The comprehensive evaluation index system of this paper strives to comprehensive reflect the process of sustainable development of resource-based cities, and hopes to provide some reference for policy making for the sustainable development of resource-based cities.

The sustainable development evaluation of reservoir resettlement has great significance to future planning and implementation of water conservancy and hydropower projects. Based on the analysis of the current condition of reservoir resettlement, this paper established a comprehensive evaluation index system for sustainable development of reservoir resettlement, with the consideration of economic, social, cultural and environmental factors. The Analytic Hierarchy Process method is proposed to determine the weight of each index. The case of the Three Gorges reservoir resettlement in Tianchang, Anhui is analyzed, and the feasibility of the proposed method is verified.

Abstract. According to the meaning of ecological civilization, we build an evaluation index system of ecological civilization competitiveness. We select 30 provinces or autonomous regions in China, collect the relevant data and through principal component analysis 9 independent components are picked up from 19 comprehensive evaluation indices which reflect the competitiveness of ecological civilization. Then we evaluate and rank the regions’ ecological civilization competitiveness. By comparing the results, we find out strengths and gaps of the regions as well as the related reasons.

According to the characteristics of the sustainable development of subway traffic, the establishment process of an evaluation index system is determined, and the evaluation method and basis are defined. The evaluation index system is established from the aspects of subway traffic sustainability, economic sustainability and urban coordination sustainability. The comprehensive evaluation method of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model is used to calculate the weights of comprehensive evaluation indexes at each level. Finally, the sustainable development model of Shijiazhuang subway traffic is evaluated. The results show that the proposed evaluation system and model reflect the degree of sustainable development of subway traffic and can be used for reference in the evaluation of regional subway traffic sustainable development.

In combination with regional economics and development economics theory, this paper built an evaluation index system on regional sustainable development capability from the 15 indexes by the angles of economic development level, social development level, resources and environmental conditions, and gave an comprehensive evaluation on the sustainable development ability in each province of China with the data of 2010 years. The results showed that the sustainable development ability in each province of China had risen ceaselessly as the economic and social development level; But the difference of sustainable development ability in each province is great, and over time, this difference has not been narrowing.
