Co3O4 nanoparticles with biomimetic activity have been synthesized using inorganic precursor by a simple liquid precipitation method without use of any organic and assisted agents. XRD and IR results showed that the as-prepared product was well-crystalline cubic Co3O4 phase with a lattice constant of a=8.079Å. The TEM image showed that the obtained Co3O4 product possesses a spherical and rectangular shape with a diameter ranging from 10 to 20nm. The Co3O4 nanoparticles catalyzed oxidation of typical peroxidase substrate (ABTS) and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) to give the same color changes as microperoxidase -11( MP-11), respectively. And the catalysis by Co3O4 nanoparticles shows typical Michaelis-Menten curves similar to that of MP-11. These results demonstrate that the Co3O4 nanoparticles possess a biomimetic catalysis activity similar to that found in natural enzyme. The kinetic parameters showed Co3O4 nanoparticles had efficient catalytic activity in comparison to MP-11.The easy preparation, good stability and special properties of Co3O4nanoparticles make them the promising enzyme mimics.

The effect of catalyst on the performance of liquid-phase selective oxidation of cyclohexane as probe reaction over Co-Bi2(MoO4)3 prepared by precipitation method was investigated. The catalyst evaluation results show that the optimum catalyst atomic ratio is n(Mo):n(Bi):n(Co)=1.5:1:0.2 with high selecivity under certain conversion. Meanwhile selective oxidation of Bi2(MoO4)3 was slowed down, selecivity of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol reached 74.1%, 22.2% respectively. The main composition of the catalyst is Bi2(MoO4)3. Co-Bi2(MoO4)3 had new catalyst sites with Bi3+, Mo6+ and Co2+ having a cooperative effects during oxidation of cyclohexane. Under this condition, selecivity of cyclohexanone improved greatly. Micro-structure and essence disciplinarian of Co-Bi2(MoO4)3 were disclosed by XRD and FTIR. This study could provide experimental data for the technical reform of industry equipment.

Scheelite (CaWO4)-type microphosphors were synthesized by the precipitation method assisted with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). All compounds crystallized in the tetragonal structure with space group [Formula: see text] (No. 88). FE-SEM micrographs illustrate the spherical-like morphologies and rough surface. PL spectra indicate the broad emission peak maximum at 613 nm under UV excitation. Luminescence decay curves monitored by [Formula: see text] transition ([Formula: see text] nm) of Eu[Formula: see text] in doped CaWO4 are presented, the curves exhibit a single-exponential feature and the lifetime for doped CaWO4 is 0.61 ms.

As a kind of promising material for a Faraday isolator used in the visible and near infrared range, Dy2O3 transparent ceramics were prepared by vacuum sintering from the nano-powders synthesized by the liquid precipitation method using ammonium hydrogen carbonate as precipitant with no sintering aids. The synthesized precursor was calcinated at 950 °C–1150 °C for 4 h in air. The influences of the calcination temperature on the morphologies and phase composition of Dy2O3 powders were characterized. It is found that the Dy2O3 powder calcinated at 1000 °C for 4 h is superior for the fabrication of Dy2O3 ceramics. The Dy2O3 transparent ceramic sample prepared by vacuum sintering at 1850 °C for 10 h, and subsequently with air annealing at 1400 °C for 10 h, from the 1000 °C-calcined Dy2O3 powders, presents the best optical quality. The values of in-line transmittance of the optimal ceramic specimen with the thickness of 1.0 mm are 75.3% at 2000 nm and 67.9% at 633 nm. The Verdet constant of Dy2O3 ceramics was measured to be −325.3 ± 1.9 rad/(T·m) at 633 nm, about 2.4 times larger than that of TGG (Tb3Ga5O12) single crystals.
