First, the problems in cutting database are analyzed and primary factors that should be considered in establishing high-speed cutting database are pointed out, including data presenting modes, data collecting and updating, the intelligence of the database, and the integration with CAD, CAPP and CAM. Secondly, high-speed cutting system is analyzed. On the basis of the categorization of the variables, the function model and the information model of cutting database are set up, which leads to the establishment of the architecture of high-speed cutting database. Finally, the combination mechanism of the rule-based reasoning and the case-based reasoning is analyzed and the process of the hybrid reasoning is given.

In order to fulfil the actual request of machining process to the machining database system, according to the characteristics and requirements of machining process, the fuzzy technology and case-based reasoning method were introduced to the design of machining database system. The reasoning process of case-based reasoning method and three main aspects of the fuzzy model were discussed. The match of cases and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation were introduced. The function of high-speed machining database was analyzed and the structure of the database was described. The users can use the database to acquire the overall solutions about high-speed machining.

Based on the authors previous work of developing an expert system for fault diagnosis of CNC machine tool, this paper studied the theory and method of CNC remote fault diagnosis expert system based on B/S, and presents schema and structure of the expert system in detailed. Case based reasoning is used for the multi-alarm diagnosis, and rule based reasoning is used for single-alarm diagnosis. At last fault diagnosis expert system was designed and developed making use of C# and ASP.NET.

This study aims to assist the semiconductor assembly and testing industry in finding the best way of talent training. Firstly, the analysis of competency designs the training path according to engineers' different realms, introduces Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) combined with courses of the analysis of competency. Then, after the interview of professional engineers regarding their experiences, we analyze the courses' main factors, the degree of demand of instituting the courses, and finally set up the knowledge database of talent training. The results will inspire the training path for automation equipment and process and act as reference for the human resources department, reducing discrepancies between the tech and management department for required skills to equipment and manufacturing processing and enhancing the productive output.

High speed cutting (HSM) is one of the main trends of cutting machinery. In our country, the relevant research of HSM starts later, the actual machining and experiment on the machining technology and the machining parameters of HSM are few, the reasonable machining parameters selection scheme and the appropriate cutter choice method are lack. The paper established the HSM cutters management system based on BP artificial neural networks to facilitate optimized database system and to improve cutting efficiency. The result shows the system is very helpful to select cutting parameters and the value of prediction fits with the test very well.
