At present, objects dictionary (OD) and object descriptions used in fieldbus intelligent instruments are based on variable-sized storage and constant property values, which constrains the flexibility and portability in data access and modularization and encapsulation in system design. In this paper, a kind of universal data structure for object description in OD was presented. Universal management of object description with different types could be realized with the proposed structure. Based on principle and methodology of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), an improved model for object description was proposed. In the improved model, constant value used in object code field of object description is replaced by function pointer pointing to object instance handler for data process of object instances belonging to the same class. Universal function structure is used for all class object instance handlers for different classes but instances belonging to different classes are manipulated differently with their own handlers. The improved model for OD and object description was proven effective and efficient by the practice of development and design of intelligent instruments in distributed control network.

This paper proposes an object-oriented design for generating Stock Keeping Unit coding system. Through recognition and analysis of the inventory item particulars and conceptualizing the important classes as one package, the framework is developed in a modular-basis able to be integrated with other parts of the system. Using UML class and package diagram as of the best practice in object-oriented, conducting the analysis and design is elaborately discussed. A prototype implementation is carried out to support the designed framework over its applicability at a modular information system. Moreover, the item particular package with unique and organized SKU numbering system efficiently supports the fundamental need of item identification at inventory control operations and classification and guarantees different types of reports and lookups.

AbstractAn object-oriented medical database management system is presented for a typical cardiologic center, facilitating epidemiological trials. Object-oriented analysis and design were used for the system design, offering advantages for the integrity and extendibility of medical information systems. The system was developed using object-oriented design and programming methodology, the C++ language and the Borland Paradox Relational Data Base Management System on an MS-Windows NT environment. Particular attention was paid to system compatibility, portability, the ease of use, and the suitable design of the patient record so as to support the decisions of medical personnel in cardiovascular centers. The system was designed to accept complex, heterogeneous, distributed data in various formats and from different kinds of examinations such as Holter, Doppler and electrocardiography.

Software engineering is a discipline utilizing Unified Modelling Language (UML) diagrams, which are accepted as a standard to depict object-oriented design models. UML diagrams make it easier to identify the requirements and scopes of systems and applications by providing visual models. In this manner, this study aims to systematically review the literature on UML diagram utilization in software engineering research. A comprehensive review was conducted over the last two decades, spanning from 2000 to 2019. Among several papers, 128 were selected and examined. The main findings showed that UML diagrams were mostly used for the purpose of design and modeling, and class diagrams were the most commonly used ones.

Due to the complex timing sequence of NAND flash, a unified design process is urgently required to guarantee the reliability of storage system of nano-satellite. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a widely used high level modeling language for object-oriented design. This paper adopts the UML as the design and modelling tool in the low level storage system design to elaborate the UML application in each phase of design in detail. The result shows taking UML as the modelling tool results in a clear and unambiguity design, which promotes the reliability and quality of software. At last, the feasibility of object-oriented implementation in C is presented.
