Gamification allows for the implementation of experiences that simulate the design of (video) games, giving individuals the opportunity to be the protagonists in them. Its inclusion in the educational environment responds to the need to adapt teaching–learning processes to the characteristics of homo videoludens, placing value once again on the role of playful action in the personal development of individuals. The interest that has arisen in studying the implications of gamification processes in the different educational stages, in order to determine their impact and suitability, has led to an increase in scientific publications. With the intention of studying the presence and implications of gamification in teacher training as a methodological principle implemented in the teaching–learning process, both in its initial and permanent stages, this systematic review of the literature identifies those instructional design models applied in the field of gamification, as well as its educational significance. Thus, the need to introduce gamified practices in the field of teacher training is observed, providing an experiential learning that allows teachers to apply this methodology in a relevant way in their professional development, based on their own experience.

The blended learning (BL) model was becoming popular during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though much research has been conducted on BL, simple steps in model BL are still scarce. BL has complex steps and requires long-term stability support. The fundamental problem is to find the right model of blended learning. This study aims to find a model to teach Islamic Religion (IR) using ASSURE and the three-stage Plomp design models. This research is type of research and development. This article finds a model of syntax BL development at IR. The students were from three Islamic universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This research limitation was more difficult when the COVID-19 limited classroom meetings. The innovation of this BL model is simple steps into building BL and has the originality to the contextually subject matter.

This chapter is structured to help give readers a general impression about gamification and its relationship with e-learning from the perspective of basic sources of gamification. Gamification is important for e-learning, which can share the same digital environment with digital game components because it has the potential to increase the engagement of the learners in digital environment. This chapter on gamification has primarily tried to explain the reasons for prompting people to play and the kinds of actions of the players after defining the game and gamification. Afterwards, explaining the components of the gamification design models, some gamification applications are stated as successful examples that can be used in e-learning. The chapter concludes by giving information about the limits, criticism, and future of gamification.

The paper deals with the loading test results of an experimental reinforced concrete flat slab fragment, which was supported by an elongated rectangular column. The slab specimens were 200 mm thick and were designed without any shear reinforcement. By experimentally obtained punching shear resistance, the accuracy of the standard design models for prediction punching resistance was compared. The results of the experiments were also compared with the results of a numerical non-linear analysis performed in the Atena program.

This study aims to elaborate the use of an instructional design model to enhance the effectiveness of conducting face-to-face students' learning support in the distance education system. Universitas Terbuka (UT) provides various learning supports for its students. The students can use both online and face-to-face tutorial programs to improve their learning process. UT must find the appropriate instructional strategy that enables to enhance students’ motivation in learning. One of the instructional design models that focus on the effort of improving students’ motivation in learning is the ARCS, motivational instructional design model. This model entails essential components that will support the process of learning such as Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction. The study involved 32 distant education students who participated in a face-to-face tutorial program. A pre and post-test session was conducted to get information regarding the impact of using the ARCS instructional design model to facilitate students’ learning. This research has implications for educators or trainers related to designing learning scenarios or developing learning design models.

Abstract Design models of single-component and three-component samples were developed on glued fiberglass washers in order to investigate the stress-strain state (SF) of the elements of joints of wooden structures. The picture and the nature of the actual stressed-deformed state of the wooden element with glued washers are obtained. Quite high bearing capacity of wooden structures connection is shown.

Central courtyards are primary components of vernacular architecture in Iran. The directions, dimensions, ratios, and other characteristics of central courtyards are critical for studying historical passive cooling and heating solutions. Several studies on central courtyards have compared their features in different cities and climatic zones in Iran. In this study, deep learning methods for object detection and image segmentation are applied to aerial images, to extract the features of central courtyards. The case study explores aerial images of nine historical cities in Bsk, Bsh, Bwk, and Bwh Köppen climate zones. Furthermore, these features were gathered in an extensive dataset, with 26,437 samples and 76 geometric and climactic features. Additionally, the data analysis methods reveal significant correlations between various features, such as the length and width of courtyards. In all cities, the correlation coefficient between these two characteristics is approximately +0.88. Numerous mathematical equations are generated for each city and climate zone by fitting the linear regression model to these data in different cities and climate zones. These equations can be used as proposed design models to assist designers and researchers in predicting and locating the best courtyard houses in Iran’s historical regions.
