Finite Element Modeling and Simulation towards Metallic Microstructure of Titanium Alloy Based on Abaqus

In this paper a new kind of finite element analysis model towards metallic microstructure of titanium alloy is established based on a common metallic microstructure picture. By the simulation of tensile test on this new kind of FEA model performed by finite element analysis software Abaqus, the tensile curve in the state of simulation is obtained. Meanwhile, in order to verify the accuracy of the simulation results, a series of tensile tests are designed and performed and the tensile curves under experimental conditions are obtained. Comparing the experimental results with the simulation results, the conclusion can be verified that the new microstructure FEA model can illustrate the metallic microstructure very well. And this model provides a new perspective to study the mechanical properties of metallic materials.

A practical explicit 3D finite element analysis model has been developed and implemented to analyze turning hardened AISI 52100 steels using a PCBN cutting tool. The finite element analysis incorporated the thermo-elastic-plastic properties of the work material in machining. An improved friction model has been proposed to characterize tool-chip interaction with the friction coefficient and shear flow stresses determined by force calibration and material tests, respectively. A geometric model has been established to simulate a 3D turning. FEA Model predictions have reasonable accuracy for chip geometry, forces, residual stresses, and cutting temperatures. FEA model sensitivity analysis indicates that the prediction is consistent using a suitable magnitude of material failure strain for chip separation, the simulation gives reasonable results using the experimentally determined material properties, the proposed friction model is valid and the sticking region on the tool-chip interface is a dominant factor of model predictions.

Since the posture of portable exoskeleton is consistent with human motion and each joint degree of freedom is same, on the basis of DOF coupling in portable exoskeleton, the finite element analysis of the mechanical structure in portable exoskeleton has been calculated. According to the anthropomorphic mechanism design method, the universal joint structure has been used to meet the requirements of degrees of freedom in the mechanical structure of the exoskeleton; using the Hydraulic cylinder to simulate the contraction or stretch of human muscle, and the three-dimensional model of the exoskeleton mechanical systems has been created with the Solidworks software; selecting Human CAD software and setting the parameters of the movement of the human body model, the variations of the various joints can be obtained; using the Parasolid as the standard format for data transfer between the two software Solidworks and ANSYS, the finite element analysis model was established, and according to the principle of coupling, the three translational DOF and two rotating DOF was coupled, besides through both legs vertical standing, one knee kneeling, and one leg vertical standing three conditions, the exoskeleton strength was analyzed. The simulation results show that under the three conditions, a concentrated stress all has been found in the exoskeleton structure, besides the concentrated stresses all have been obtained in the cross-section changing site or the junction of the two components, which stress values exceeded the allowable stress values of the aluminum alloy material, so the suggestions for improvement of the structure are put forward in the article; at the same time, the simulation results provide a numerical basis for the optimization of the portable exoskeleton structure.

A comparative finite element analysis (FEA) model was developed to predict the relative stresses and strains in Zimmer NexGen®Trabecular Metal™ Tibial Cone components. The FEA predictions were compared to measurements obtained through physical testing. The model was validated for its ability to correctly rank the order of predicted strain in the components under applied load.

Abstract Because the structural integrity of brake systems and tires can be related to the temperature, this work proposes a transient heat transfer finite element analysis (FEA) model to study the overheating in drum brake systems used in trucks and urban buses. To understand the mechanics of overheating, some constructive variants have been modeled regarding the assemblage: brake, rims, and tires. The model simultaneously studies the thermal energy generated by brakes and tires and how the heat is transferred and dissipated by conduction, convection, and radiation. The simulated FEA data and the experimental temperature profiles measured with thermocouples have been compared giving good correlation.

We propose a model to give us a method to investigate the characteristic three-dimensional directivity in an arbitrarily configured flexible electret-based loudspeaker. In recent years, novel electret loudspeakers have attracted much interest due to their being lightweight, paper thin, and possessing excellent mid- to high-frequency responses. Increasing or decreasing the directivity of an electret loudspeaker makes it excellent for adoption to many applications, especially for directing sound to a particular area or specific audio location. Herein, we detail a novel electret loudspeaker that possesses various directivities and is based on various structures of spacers instead of having to use multichannel amplifiers and a complicated digital control system. In order to study the directivity of an electret loudspeaker based on an array structure which can be adopted for various applications, the horizontal and vertical polar directivity characteristics as a function of frequency were simulated by a finite-element analysis model. To validate the finite-element analysis model, the beam pattern of the electret loudspeaker was measured in an anechoic room. Both the simulated and experimental results are detailed in this article to validate the various assertions related to the directivity of electret cell-based smart speakers.

Verify the design of main stand fully comply with the technical requirements .In this paper, it provides the theoretical position of split casting and welding method using electric slag welding.

Brake friction lining material is the critical element of a braking system, since it provides friction resistance to the rotating drum for controlling automobiles. The present study involves wear analysis of newly developed eco-friendly non-asbestos friction lining material for automotive drum brake applications using experimental study, finite-element analysis, and microstructural investigations. Theoretical interpretation of braking force at different automobile speeds was derived using fundamentals. Specimen drum brake liner with eco-friendly material compositions was produced using an industrial hot compression molding process at one of the manufacturer. The surface wear of the liner was measured using an effective and accurate method. Furthermore, a finite-element analysis model was developed considering actual operating conditions and various components of the drum brake system. The model was elaborated for various result outcomes, including Von-Mises stresses and total deformation of components of the drum brake, and further used to estimate the surface wear of the friction lining material in terms of transverse directional deformation. Finally, microstructural analysis of the friction lining material was carried out using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. From the results, it is seen that the developed friction lining material is wear resistant. The finite-element analysis model can be effectively utilized to study the tribological characteristics of friction lining materials.
