The present article discusses the cylindrical mandrel wear change during rolling using MISIS - 130 D mill depending on the type of rolled billets materials used. The research on the mandrel wear of the screw rolling mill during pipes elongation was carried out using the finite element method (FEM). The results of the wear modeling showed that the depth of the metal removed on the mandrel surface during stainless steel pipes elongation was higher as compared to alloyed and carbon steel pipes. The significant wear of the mandrel during stainless steel pipe rolling can be explained by the rise in the applied metal force resulting from the introduction of alloying components such as chromium and nickel into rolled billets materials. Consequently, the obtained modeling results can allow predicting the service life of working tools.

In the article, the current problem of reducing the cost of pipe‑rolling products, which is especially acute in the world market of metal products high competition conditions is considered. A significant share in the cost of pipe products stands at the cost of rolling tools. Reducing the cost of buying a deforming tool allows you to make considerable savings in the seamless pipes’ production. The article presents: analysis of the economic efficiency of manufacturing long cylindrical mandrels from a semi‑finished product – forged billet at OJSC «BSW – management company of «BMC» holding»; development of the technological process for the production of long mandrels depending on the required size; the results on the manufacture of long cylindrical mandrels from forged billet at OJSC «BSW – management company of «BMC» holding», as well as their industrial tests in the conditions of the pipe rolling shop. A positive result of using long mandrels of the PQF mill made of forged blanks was obtained.

In the production of pipes from corrosion-resistant steels on pipe rolling plants, the current problem is the low stability of the pipe tool. Therefore, the creation of high-performance and durable tools is associated primarily with the production and processing of materials that could withstand harsh working conditions. The technology of heat hardening of the pipe tool for cold roller rolling of corrosion-resistant pipes (rollers and support laths of HPTR mills) from 4Х5МФ1С steel which excludes the third holiday and uses drawing of a covering from powders of amorphous alloys 100…150 µm thick is offered in the work. As a result of the offered technology durability, wear resistance, and also hardness to HV0.1 950–1050 (in comparison with HV 587–690 on existing technology of heat treatment in factory conditions) increases. A wide range of studies of the structure of the coating and industrial tests of rollers and support bars. It is shown that gas-plasma coating of amorphous alloy based on Fe–Si–B system increases the hardness of the tool surface by 1.3–1.6 times and their stability by ~ 30…50%.

The paper discusses the specific aspects of hot rolled seamless pipes manufacture using pipe rolling plants including screw-rolling mills. The method of accuracy enhancement of pipe dimensions, as well as external and internal surface quality improvement, is proposed. The article specifies the results of computer and physical modeling of the pipes mandreling process. The application of the mandreling process within the cage using different diameter mandrels is shown. We managed to decrease the typical mark caused by the metal deformation, due to the screw-rolling mill and to manufacture pipes with more accurate dimensions, as a result of the mandreling process modeling. The results of the physical experiment on mandreling the shell pierced at the screw-rolling mill showed a positive effect from the process of hollow billet cold treatment using the mandrel.

Nonuniformity of pipe wall thickness is one of significant indices, determining quality of hot-rolled seamless pipes. One of the reasons of increased nonuniformity arising is dynamics of exit section mechanisms of pipe rolling line (PRL). Results of study of mandrel holding mechanism dynamics of PRL presented. Dynamic models of exit section, accounting parameters of technological process and inertia of a rolled hollow billet elaborated, which enabled to determine the character of dynamic processes at the exit section of PRL automatic mill. Differential equations of exit section elements motion at the exit section of PRL automatic mill were made up. The solution of the differential equations system was obtained in a numerical form by application of Runge‒Kutta method for correspondent dynamic models of exit section based on the example of calculations for ТПА-350 automatic mill. The pattern of dynamic processes arising at the exit section was specified at realization of the whole technological process of a hollow billet rolling at automatic mill, taking into consideration alternative action from the side of deformation center and mass of the rolled hollow billet. It was shown, that the specified solution of the task for three advanced dynamic models of mechanical system considerably differs from those of the known mathematical models. It was established, that the dynamics of the mandrel holding mechanism of ТПА-350 automatic mill equivalently form the mechanism of finished pipes geometry forming. Analysis of dynamic models of the mill exit section enabled to select the necessary technological and dynamic parameters of the mechanical system, to determine stable modes of hollow billets rolling at the ТПА-350 automatic mill. Results of the study of dynamics of exit section ТПА-350 automatic mill presented. A scheme of modernization of the exit section ТПА-350 automatic mill proposed, which enables to realize rational modes of operation accounting level of mechanical system dynamics and to control quality (geometric parameters) of the rolled pipes.

Subject. The article is an attempt to evaluate how the COVID-19 pandemic influences the economic development in Russia, illustrating the case of the tube rolling industry. Objectives. I examine and evaluate how adverse crisis implications of the COVID-19 pandemic could possibly be eliminated in the tube rolling industry, ensuring the economic security of Russia. Methods. The study involves methods of empirical and theoretical research, such as systems and empirical analysis, formal characterization, abstraction, observation, generalization, assessment, and partial methods of economic and statistical analysis. Results. I generally describe the economic situation during the COVID-19 pandemic, evaluate the impact of ties between the oil and tube rolling industries on the economic sovereignty and security of Russia, role of the tube rolling industry in the economic security of the State. I analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the goods circulation in the tube rolling industry and found probable implications of economic destruction for Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and proposed possible solutions for the tube rolling industry. Conclusions and Relevance. The economic security of the tube rolling industry during the current pandemic is exposed to the destruction of foreign trade between countries exporting tube rolling products, price drop and a reduction in the consumption of energy resources worldwide, capital flight, a decrease in labor resources, slowing business activity and restricted transportation tube rolling products, growing uncertainty on the consumption of tube rolling products. The menacing threats can be eliminated given the State intervenes and regulates the Russian tube rolling industry so as to create favorable conditions for the beneficial economic operations.

Subject. The article focuses on sanctions against Russia’s energy sector. Objectives. The article represents my own comprehensive study into sanctions against Russia’s energy sector and their impact on operations of pipe-rolling plants. The study spotlights the most significant milestones of the oil and gas industry, analyzes the sectoral impact on the development of pipe-rolling plants and pressure of the war against pipelines on the Russian manufacturers. Methods. The study employs methods of comparison, research, monographs and logic. Results. What distinguishes the Russian pipe-rolling plants is their importance for operations of oil and gas producing sectors. Based on the retrospective analysis of energy sanctions against Russia, I conclude that tensions in economic relations of European countries, and the USA and Russia last too long. Energy sanctions definitely influence operations of pipe-rolling plants. Export barriers obstructed the influx of investment into the respective sector and affected the financial performance of enterprises. However, a drop in exports of pipe-rolling plants’ products fuels their domestic distribution plans, thus contributing to the positive economic situation nationwide. Conclusions and Relevance. Economic sanctions will influence the development of the Russian oil and gas companies in the distant future, since the Russian enterprises manufacture high-tech products insufficiently, while supplies from China are not yet reliable. Sanctions against Russia trigger the development of the Russian enterprises manufacturing high-tech products and large diameter pipes for the oil and gas industry.
