Research on the Effect of Cutter Position Points Distribution Optimization on Surface Milling Accuracy

The research analyzed the distribution of cutter position point data outputted by software CAM, based on the precision of surface milling. The model of the tool-path is established by using the piece-wise interpolation function, combining with the distribution characteristic of cutter position point. The segmentation optimization of the tool-path is also realized via the limitation and judgment of the string high error of the segmented trajectory and the optimization algorithm is integrated into the post-processing to improve the precision of the surface milling. The experiment results of surface milling show a positive effect of cutter position point optimization on surface milling accuracy.

In order to solve the problem of free surface processing of tool redundancy,the tool lack problem, and the demerit of low machining efficiency, etc., based on the iso-scallop method, based on the iso-scallop method, we put forward a kind of free surface NC machining tool path optimization algorithm,make the surface boundary discrete point set, which is generated by point set ring machining path, diagonal connection and then use the path of the adjacent curve, forming cutting tool machining line.finally, the calculation of step size and line spacing in machining path based on the iso-scallop method and the process of feeding direction is optimized. Proved by the simulation process, the algorithm is feasible and can effectively avoid tool redundancy and tool lack problems,concesquently, processing efficiency improved significantly.

Tool path generation, post-processing and verification and simulation of NC program are key technologies which are investigated in this research for manufacturing impellers. Generation of tool path aims at producing the cutting tool path. Post-processing transforms the cutter location file (CLSF file) of the tool path to the NC code which NC machine can recognize. Verification and simulation of NC program aims at proving the accuracy of program, thus the interference and collision can be avoided. When tool path is planned, increasing the machining efficiency during the rough and semi-finish milling process is the main consideration. Increasing machining accuracy is an important consideration for final finish milling.

Based on the MIRON UCP800 rotary and tilting table five-axis machine, this paper studies the mathematical model of Five-Axis machining and derives the algorithm formula of Six-Coordinate axis vector into five-axis AC rotary and tilting table. The Post-Processing process of turning the source file to the machine tool path code is fulfilled by using coordinate transformation matrix; with reading the cutting location file line by line, a dedicated five-axis milling post-processing software through adapting the Keyword-Triggered method is developed by using object-oriented program in the paper. First completing construction of Five-Axis machine tools mode in the VERICUT simulation environment, then manufacturing the whole shaft by ternary simulation of impeller machining in NX, and the simulation results shows that the function of Post-Processing software Star-Fpost. The software can provide the actual processing of information for MIKRON UCP800 five-axis machine tools.

A new optimization algorithm of the path planning for spray painting robot of workpiece surfaces is proposed. This paper first provides the paint deposition rate function on a plane according to the experiment data. And the model of film thickness on surface is discussed. A multiobjective constraint optimization problem is formulated. An optimal tool path with an optimal time and film quantity deviation is generated. And the min-max method is adopted here to calculate the values. A workpiece, which is a free-form surface, is used to test the scheme. The results of experiments have shown that the path optimization algorithm achieves satisfactory performance. This algorithm can also be extended to other applications.

Making use of function of NC programme provided by Pro/NC, aiming at general NC milling machine and using general milling cutter, this thesis attempts to establish the tool path of straight bevel gear’s finishing machining and then put forward the idea of processing piece by piece. In this way, “over cutting” and “short cutting” can be avoided and the precision of process can be improved. Finally, the accuracy of product designing and manufacture can be tested by post-processing of numerical control program of straight bevel gear’s finishing processing with the VERICUT’s simulating.

Post-processing technology is the key to CNC automatic programming technology and an important module of the CAD / CAM system. Post-processing technology converts the NC program that is produced by the CNC automatic programming tool into the file that can be identified by CNC system. Moreover, the generated tool path files must match with the CNC system. Post-processing techniques and UG software are briefly introduced. Using them, a post-processor for FANUC CNC systems is created. The program that generated by the special processor is contrasted with the general processor. The results illustrat that using the dedicated post-processor in engineering applications can improve programming efficiency and processing reliability.
