Photocatalytic technology is widely used in water purification because of its environmental protection, high efficiency and energy saving. Therefore, it is extremely important for the selection and preparation of specific semiconductor materials used in the field of photocatalysis. In this work, 1T@2H MoS2 nanosheets were fabricated by simple hydrothermal method, and the photocatalytic property of as-prepared 1T@2H MoS2 were investigated by the photo-degradation of methylene blue (MB) water solutions under visible light irradiation via 2H MoS2.The results indicated that compared to 2H MoS2, the 1T@2H MoS2 exhibited more excellent photocatalytic degradation property. After 150 minutes of irradiation under visible light, 1T@2H MoS2 had a removal rate of 98% for MB, and 2H MoS2 eventually reached 19%. The enhancement photocatalytic property of 1T@2H MoS2 could be attributed to the reduced band gap energy of the hybrid-nanosheets and the increased in electron migration speed.

Abstract This study reports a green approach for the modification of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles with immobilization of silver nanoparticles. One of the natural sources i.e., Mangifera indica leaf extract was utilized as reducing and capping agent for the fabrication of Ag-TiO2 nanocatalyst. Further, the surface morphology and band-gap energy of prepared Ag-TiO2 were analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and UV–Vis spectroscopy. Also, it was characterized by X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) which provides the information regarding the crystallinity of the Ag-TiO2. Subsequently, photo activity of Ag-TiO2 was investigated for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye wastewater through visible light driven photoreactor. The Ag-TiO2 provided highest (68%) of photo-degradation efficiency within 110 min for 7.81 × 10−5 mol/L initial MB concentration at pH 8 by using 0.19 g/L photocatalyst. Further, addition of 10 mM H2O2 boost up the MB photodegradation to 74%. The kinetic study confirmed the MB degradation followed first order rate of reaction.

The Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal method and applied for the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (Rh B) under the visible light. The Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The results indicated that the Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were successfully prepared, and Ti-O-C and S-C bonds were existing among Bi2S3, TiO2 as well as RGO. Furthermore, the photocatalytic ability of Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites was excellent under visible light due to its responding to the whole visible light region, low recombination rate of photogenerated electron–hole pairs and relatively negative conduction band. Rh B photocatalytic degradation rate was 99.5% after 50[Formula: see text]min and still could reach 98.4% after five cycles. Finally, a formation mechanism as well as a photocatalytic mechanism of Bi2S3-TiO2-RGO composites were proposed based on the experimental results.

AbstractPoriferous TiO2/GO (denoted as TGO-x%) photocatalysts with ultrathin grapheme oxide (GO) layer were prepared by a hydrothermal method, the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation and its kinetics about Methylene blue(MB) were studied systematically. All the TGO-x% showed improved adsorption and photodegradation performance. TGO-25% had excellent adsorptivity while TGO-20% exhibit the highest visible light photocatalytic degradation activity. The adsorption capacity for TGO-25% was 20.25 mg/gcatalyst along with the k1 was about 0.03393 min·gcatalyst/mg, this enhancement was mainly owing to the strong adsorption capacity of GO and the stacking structure of sheets and nanoparticles. GO sheets prevented the agglomeration of TiO2 particles and TiO2 nanoparticles also prevented the agglomeration of GO sheets, which could provides greater surface area. Besides, the remarkably superior photodegradation activity of TiO2/GO composites is mainly attribute to the strong absorption of visible light and the effective charge separation revealed by the photoluminescence, the total removal rate of MB is 97.5% after 35 min adsorption and 140 min degradation, which is 3.5 times higher than that of TiO2.
