The article is devoted to the analysis of the Alien / Another / Different images in the cultural space of the Tatar ASSR in the 1930s - 1970s. Based on the archival documents, oral history materials and the example of the multinational region, the author considered intercultural communication and the problems of perception of another / different culture. Much attention is paid to the study of the socio-cultural space of Tatarstan villages. The analyzed material made it possible to find out how the inhabitants of the village and the city perceived the image of the Alien who was once believed to be an Alien in the rural world. The study also revealed how the perception of the Alien had been transformed during the pre-war, military and post-war periods as well as whether there is a difference in the perception of the Alien on the part of locals and newcomers. As a result of the research, the images of the Alien were created through the characteristics of alimentary qualities through clothing and appearance, as well as behavioral aspects. The author came to conclusion that the image of the Alien was more often formed as general knowledge about the social, spiritual and material culture of representatives of various people living nearby. In intercultural communication, which often took a form of a dialogue, the formula was “ours – another”, not “ours - alien’s”. According to the author, the experience of long-term residence of the people, inhabiting the Tatar ASSR, had a positive impact on the dialogue and interpenetration of cultures.

We consider the issue of the theatricalization concept and its role for a general cultural space understanding of an ethnic group, in terms of basic cultural concepts. We point out the main tasks that the theatricalization method should perform. The interrelation is traced from a simple movement in the mimes’ face to a theatrical performance complex in composition, often asso-ciated with a huge number of effects. We focus on the fact that theatricalization helps to form an associative perception of ethnocultural reality. We prove that due to this phenomenon, immersion in ethnocultural reality acquires a meaningful character and contributes to development of peculiar idea of people’s cultural code. We provide examples, accompanied by illustrative material, confirming the fact that not only small theatrical forms, but also integral theatrical performances contribute to the creation of a holistic picture of the cultural code of an ethnic group, and direct tactile perception once again helps in this process. In addition, it is substantiated that this method also contributes to the implementation of intercultural communication. We conclude that theatricalization combines both art and other types of activity that contribute to a faster, easier, and most importantly, a intimate understanding of the cultural space of a particular ethnic group.

The purpose of this article is to present literary translations from Ukrainian to Romanian in the context of Romanian-Ukrainian intercultural relations. The specificity of translation is analyzed as a special type of interlingual and intercultural communication. It also considers the role of the translator as facilitator of the connections between different societies and cultures, highlighting the main translators from the contemporary period of Ukrainian literature in Romania, as well as the literary translations from the 90s to the 20th century, which have generated literary reviews and studies in the Romanian cultural space. In the same context for the lack of a complete image of the Ukrainian literature were given explanations in the consciousness of the Romanian reader. The article did not address the topic of the Romanian literary critics of the Ukrainian literature, who wrote works of great significance for the Ukrainian literature, but most of them are in Ukrainian, thus they did not contribute to a better knowledge of the Ukrainian literature among the Romanian readers. Starting from the idea that the Ukrainians over time had a different image in the eyes of the Romanians, from negative stereotypes, to better understanding the Ukrainian problems after the events on the Maidan and targeting of the Ukrainian problems by the Romanian media. Thus Ukraine became interesting for Romanians, hence the increased interest in literary translation, as one of the bridges that make the connection between the two cultures. The translation also facilitates the reader’s understanding and perception regarding the Ukrainian nation and the culture of the Ukrainian people.

The purpose of the article is to identify the features of non-verbal etiquette signs in the context of international business etiquette of the XXI century. Methodology. The method of cultural analysis was applied (to identify the features of the representation of culture by means of intercultural communication in the context of business etiquette); method of structural, functional and system analysis (to identify the features of international business etiquette as a multi-component system); semiotic method (for the study of non-verbal international business etiquette as a complex sign system), etc. Scientific novelty. Business etiquette in the context of international communicative competence is investigated; analyzed an important component of international business etiquette - non-verbal etiquette as a complex system that functions in the global socio-cultural space and consists of non-verbal etiquette signs, relations between them, and non-verbal rules of international etiquette; the non-verbal international business etiquette is considered in a semiotic aspect. Conclusions. International business etiquette is a dynamic system, some aspects of which are constantly changing with the development of international business and globalization. However, despite the fact that cultural differences in business communication in the context of globalization trends in the world socio-cultural space are minimized, certain delicate aspects remain in force, which must be taken into account in intercultural communication. The study revealed that the rules of non-verbal international business etiquette and its semiotic system have remained unchanged for many centuries and are largely due to the specifics of national cultural codes. Intercultural skills are essential to achieve effective and productive international negotiations. Facial expressions, gestures, and other non-verbal cues characteristic of a particular culture are an important part of the international non-verbal business etiquette of the 21st century.
