A Case Study of Experience of Career Program in Physical Education High School

For those that send off their child into the world, it is hoped they will recall what was taught to them. This applies to high school (HS) physical education (PE) teachers and their students that graduate from HS. The purpose of this case study was to assess current HS PE effect in fitness facility participation by interviewing HS PE teachers, fitness facility personnel, current fitness facility participants and current HS students. Participants from these four groups were interviewed to help better understand the preparation of graduated HS students participating in a fitness facility. From this case study three of the four groups felt they had and were being prepared to be successful in health clubs and those activities that are found in health clubs. This study sheds light on the fact that HS PE is the last opportunity of a student to be involved in an organized class that has real world application.

En videregående skole skilte seg ut ved at elevene på denne skolen i gjennomsnitt hadde det laveste fraværet i Nordland. På bakgrunn av dette foretok jeg en forskningsstudie for å se nærmere på hvordan kroppsøvingsfaget ble organisert ved denne skolen. To lærere og alle 15 elevene på tredje studieår ble intervjuet om hvordan kroppsøvingsfaget ved skolen ble organisert og gjennomført. Det ble også foretatt uformelle samtaler med lærerne gjennom et tredagers feltarbeid, samt gjennomført observasjon av to dobbelttimer i kroppsøving, hvor lærere og elever deltok. Resultatene tyder på at kroppsøvingen ble organisert med høy grad av selvbestemmelse og frihet til selv å velge aktiviteter. Samtidig satte lærerne krav til elevenes deltakelse, og fulgte dem opp i et miljø hvor den sosiale tilhørigheten syntes å være høy. Ifølge både lærere og elever gav denne tilnærmingen et godt grunnlag for opplevelse av trivsel og mestring, og et godt grunnlag for oppmøte i kroppsøving. Resultatene underbygges av selvbestemmelsesteori og de tre basale behovene selvbestemmelse, tilhørighet og kompetanse.Nøkkelord: kroppsøving, selvbestemmelsesteori, mestring, trivselAbstractA high school stood out by having the lowest absentee rates in physical education among all of the seventeen high schools in Nordland. On this basis, a case study was conducted to examine how physical education was organized at this school. Two teachers, and all of the 15 students in the last year of high school, were interviewed about the organization of physical education at this high school. Observations and informal conversations were also conducted among the teachers through three days of field work, which also included lessons in physical education. The results indicate that the physical education at this high school was organized with a high level of autonomy, where students chose the activities by themselves. Meanwhile, the teachers required that the students planned their activities, with high effort levels. The teachers closely followed up each student in a social environment with high relatedness among teachers and students. According to both the teachers and the students, this approach created a good foundation for wellbeing and development in physical education. The results are supported by self- determination theory, that points to three basic needs in all human; autonomy, relatedness and competence.Keywords: physical education, self-determination theory, competence, well-being

This article outlines a junior high school physical education class which teaches basketball in English using the CLIL framework as a case study. The purpose of the article is to consider how and what students learned from the class through students’ class results, basketball skills test, post lesson questionnaire and pre and post lesson teacher interviews. It examines how the teacher’s attitude toward CLIL changes from pre and post lesson interviews. Through this CLIL class led not by English teachers but by a physical education teacher the qualities and abilities necessary for competent CLIL teaching are considered. Regarding students, this CLIL lesson was conducted for the acquisition of physical basketball skills, English expressions and situational English ability. It also aimed to teach 21st-century skills defined by global education. The lesson resulted in students being able to understand both the English target structures and the basketball terms and strategies taught. In addition, students not only learned the content of the lesson, but also co-operated well with the teacher and worked well in teams which made the lesson successful. Before the lesson, the teacher felt that the CLIL lesson would be difficult for the students. However, the lesson was well received and had a great effect on the students and the teacher herself gained confidence. The experience they gained will lead to skills that will help them succeed in a global society in the future.

So far, in implementing school strategies, they tend not to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT), despite the availability of ICT resources available. Stages of strategic management are needed to generate the vision, mission, objectives, policy, program, budget, and procedures as well as control and evaluation process as an effort to utilize ICT to improve school quality. Based on the interpretation and the results of the study, it is concluded that schools have organized stages in strategic management that enable schools to have a quality profile. The impact of effective utilization of ICTs for schools is the achievement of effective school management, as per the National Education Standards, which is characterized by effective planning, implementation, control, and evaluation of school ICTs.The purpose of this study is to get a general description, describe, and reveal the Strategic Management of Information and Communication Technology Utilization to Improve the Quality of School Learning in Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational High School and Garut 1 Vocational High School, both on environmental analysis, strategic formulation, implementation and strategic evaluation. The research method used in this research is the case study method, because the problems studied occur in the place and situation of Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational School and Vocational High School 1 Garut. The use of case study models in this study is based on the consideration that to provide an overview of the strategic management activities of the use of ICTs carried out at vocational high schools with the ultimate goal of being able to improve the quality of school learning. Based on observations in the field of SMK 1 Garut and SMK Al Musaddadiyah Ciledug Garut is one of the public schools and private schools that have these advantages.
