This study evaluated current training methodologies, particularly Instructional Systems Development (ISD), and recent developments in cognitive science to determine how training procedures should be modified to support training for tasks which require complex cognitive skills. We contend that ISD is still viable if procedures are developed for the training of cognitive skills. An important component of ISD which needs to be modified to support training of cognitive skills is the task analysis. We discuss the need for integrating efficient and cost-effective cognitive task analysis methodologies with traditional analysis methods.

ABSTRACTInformation regarding deformations in large and complex systems is necessary in the prediction of structural failures caused by un-natural flexural occurrences. Sensing systems which are used to predict shapes, in order to develop a global surface picture require high precision and lower time lag. In this work, a unique bio-inspired training mechanism for support vector regression is presented for shape sensing in structures mounted with Fiber Bragg Gratings. Experimental validation was carried out on a simply supported beam, loaded at different positions and an aircraft wing model for different types of bending. The resulting deflections at specified locations along the length of the beam and on both surfaces of the wing were interpreted from the wavelength shifts of the corresponding Fiber Bragg Gratings through the specially modified Support Vector Regression. The method has shown high accuracy, low computational requirements and enhanced prediction times. The proposed bio-inspired training method has also been compared with two conventional training methodologies.

RESUMEN En la actual sociedad de la información y del conocimiento se observa cómo la proliferación y el auge de los dispositivos móviles, hacen surgir nuevos modelos de aprendizaje que reformulan las metodologías didácticas, organizativas, y de formación de los currículos, para innovar en educación (Moreno Martínez, Leiva Olivencia, & Matas Terrón, 2016). Los estudios que identifican las tecnologías emergentes que podrían impactar en el aprendizaje, la enseñanza y la investigación, prevén el aumento del uso y la incorporación de dispositivos y aplicaciones móviles en las aulas (Reig, 2013; Reig & Vílchez, 2013). Destaca el aprendizaje basado en juegos o gamificación, que permite desarrollar procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje que facilitan la cohesión, la integración y la motivación, potenciando la creatividad del alumnado. Crear juegos entretenidos motivará al alumnado para que participe de forma activa en clase, fomentará una sana competencia entre los jugadores, y hará del aprendizaje algo más divertido (Aleksić-Maslać, Rašić, & Vranešić, 2018). Utilizando Kahoot en dispositivos móviles como soporte para las clases de Dirección de Operaciones del Grado en Administración y Dirección de Empresas de la Universidad de Cádiz, se consiguió motivar al alumnado y, aun existiendo otros factores determinantes, mejorar sus resultados de evaluación.   ABSTRACT In today's information and knowledge society, the proliferation and rise of mobile devices has led to the emergence of new learning models that reformulate didactic, organizational and curricular training methodologies in order to innovate in education (Moreno Martínez, Leiva Olivencia, & Matas Terrón, 2016). Studies that identify emerging technologies that could impact learning, teaching and research, foresee increased use and incorporation of mobile devices and applications in classrooms (Reig, 2013; Reig & Vílchez, 2013). Learning based on games or gamification stands out, which allows the development of teaching-learning processes that facilitate cohesion, integration and motivation, boosting students' creativity. Creating entertaining games will motivate students to participate actively in class, encourage healthy competition between players, and make learning more fun (Aleksić-Maslać, Rašić, & Vranešić, 2018). Using Kahootin mobile devices as support for the classes of Operations Management of the Degree in Business Administration and Management of the University of Cadiz, it was possible to motivate the students and, although there are other determining factors, to improve their evaluation results.

ResumenEsta investigación analiza las etapas formativas en materia de prevención en las Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (PYMES) del Sector Construcción en España, partiendo del indicador relativo a la elevada siniestralidad del Sector frente al resto de sectores productivos, para a través de los cuestionarios diseñados ex professo y las bases de datos de diversos organismos consultados, como los Servicios de Prevención Ajenos (SPAs) y la Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (FLC), observar la posible solución a esta casuística tan funesta. Se analizó la cualificación profesional de los docentes, las metodologías formativas empleadas y la formación e información que recibe el trabajador sobre su puesto de trabajo. Los resultados muestran el escaso nivel educativo y formativo de los trabajadores, y la baja especialización de los docentes que imparten la formación. Tanto el Sector como sus trabajadores demandan una necesaria profesionalización de los procesos que les permitan ser más competitivos.AbstractThis paper analyzes all the preventive-training stages in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that belong to the Spanish Construction Sector. One of the stages analyzed deals with the fatal consequence of incidence rate in Construction Sector compared to other productive sectors. To do that, a survey was made to evaluate the qualifications of the technicians in External Prevention Services (EPS) and in the Construction Labor Foundation (CLF), by looking at the possible solution to this problem. In order to execute the analysis, the qualifications of the trainers, the training methodologies used and the training and information received by the workers on their workplace were examined. The results show the deficient educational and training level of the workers, as well as the low specialization of the trainers who provide training actions. Both the Construction Sector and its workers demand a necessary professionalization of the processes to be more competitive and efficient

Abstract: Introduction: The objective of this study is to describe a model of knee arthroscopy simulator that is affordable, low-cost and easily reproducible, aiming to enable the diffusion of more effective active teaching and training methodologies. Methods: For the creation of the arthroscopic camera, an endoscopic camera for mobile phones and computers model SXT-5.0M manufactured by KKMOON were used. The camera was introduced in a metal tube, which was coupled to a set of three 20 mm PVC hydraulic connectors to simulate the handle and sleeve of the arthroscope. The camera has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and is equipped with six built-in white LED lamps, simulating and eliminating the need to use an additional light source. The knee model was developed using a PVC pipe fixed on a wooden support, to which synthetic femur and tibia models were affixed. Four three-centimeter diameter holes, compatible with the standard arthroscopic portals, were made in the body of the PVC pipe. For the menisci, a model was made out of modeling clay (Corfix®), until the anatomical structures were close to the real ones. The model consists of both menisci and the intercondylar eminence, simulating the proximal tibial articular surface. The model made out of modeling clay was the basis for the production of a thin Crystal Polyester Resin mold. Using the resin mold, the meniscal models were made of Silicone Rubber Type II, widely used in industry and crafts. Results: A functional and reproducible simulator was obtained, consisting of a knee model and an arthroscopic camera. The simulator works adequately adapted to a TV, monitor or computer, and allows the simulation of diagnostic procedures, meniscectomy and meniscoplasty. Conclusion: It is possible to develop a knee arthroscopy simulator, with components available in local and electronic commerce, at a cost of approximately R$ 300.

The range of training opportunities varies considerable from company to company so, when researching potential employers, it is important for job seekers who  care  about  this  to  investigate  the  level  and  type  of  training  provided  to employees.  After  employees  have  been  selected  for  various  positions  in  an organization,  training  them  for specific  tasks  to  which  they  have  been  assigned assumes greater importance.      This study suggests the organization to implement more modern training methodologies, then to provide practical training to the employees and to provide specific learning assignments or projects for participants to improve on their competency gap.
