Micro and small enterprises sector is considered as very important in growing the economies of many countries, especially the developing nations. In Kenya, the Micro and small enterprises sector is an important contributor to the growth of the economy through facilitation of trade and creation of employment. While various interventions have been made to grow this sector, the enterprises have continued to perform poorly, struggle to survive and a large number die off. This study sought to investigate the effect of mobile credit on performance of micro and small enterprises. The study was to determine the effect of accessibility, the effect of the cost, the effect of mobile credit loan amount and the effect of regulation on performance of micro and small enterprises. The study was anchored on various theories of Resource based view, Dynamic capabilities, Diffusion of technology, Credit rationing, and the asymmetry of information. The study found out that the accessibility of mobile credit, the Loan amount and the regulation have significant positive effect on performance, while the cost of mobile credit has a significate negative effect on the performance of micro and small enterprises. The study concluded that mobile credit is an essential source of credit to micro and small enterprises. Keywords: Mobile credit, Micro and small enterprises, Performance, Resource based view, Dynamic capabilities theory.

Emerging economies face the challenge of striking a balance between development and the environment. To adapt to the changes, organizations must develop dynamic capabilities for green innovation and corporate sustainability. Based on a resource-based view integrated with contingency and stakeholder theories, this study examines how strategic contingency makes differences in the transformation between learning and performance resources through innovation efforts. Oriented toward external and internal stakeholders, respectively, learning resources comprise absorptive capacity and transformative capability, innovation efforts include green product innovation and green process innovation, and performance resources contain green image and competitive advantage. Depicting their mediating relationships moderated by environmental proactivity, the research model is supported by survey observations collected from over 300 organizations in China. Environmentally proactive organizations are found to have more balanced dynamic capability development than those that are more reactive. To optimize green innovation, therefore, organizations need to embrace an ecological strategy and engage employees in learning.

Micro- and small enterprises (MSE) have come to constitute the most dynamic element of growth in the transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Only through transparent reporting and com-municating information on sustainability work and performance can MSEs build their reputation and trust, attract new capital, and develop a competitive advantage. The paper aims to provide a cross-country analysis of the financial-reporting requirements concerning MSEs, a few years after the introduction of Directive 2013/34/EU. The paper focuses on the transposition of the Directive into the national laws of sixteen CEE-region countries. The objectives have been achieved through a systematic review of the current academic literature, and an analysis of national legislation and questionnaires developed for academics. It turned out that a country’s political status does not affect the implementation of the Di-rective. Moreover, although the Directive allows countries to take the specific conditions of their markets into account when making decisions regarding the size thresholds and a simplified accounting regime, most CEE countries have applied standard definitions and requirements. As a consequence, in almost all CEE countries, about 90% of entities may draw up abridged financial reports, which significantly limits the use of financial statements for decision making.

Access to finance is considered as very important for gaining high performance of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). Yet it has been observed that despite the availability of access to finance the performance of several MSEs is poor, which is a major hurdle in the growth rate of MSEs. The purpose of this study was to find the difference in certain performance indicators of MSEs who owners have been given training against those whose owners have never been given any kind of training. In order to conduct study survey research has been conducted and a sample of 384 MSEs was selected on simple random basis. The findings revealed that all the performance indicators including sales increase, income increase, assets increase, employment increase, and meeting household expenses have shown a significant difference among the two groups. The findings of the study are very important for the policy makers and the people who are involved in microfinance industry.

This study examines the influence of network linkage on the performance of handicrafts-exporting micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Tanzania. Quantitative and qualitative techniques were used to analyse data collected from 171owner-managers of sampled exporting handicrafts MSEs in Dar es Salaam. The study used paired sample t-test to investigate the existence of significant differences between the two sets of data (before and after networking) from independent variables. The findings indicated a significant relationship between network linkages and MSEs’ performance. The study recommends MSEs to invest in business networks which facilitate their access to market information, materials and ancillary support services. It is anticipated that the findings of this study will serve as a frame of reference for future research studies in business networking, entrepreneurship development and export trade.

A structured questionnaire was used to collect data, which was analysed quantitatively. The study concludes that at 5% level of significance; focused cost strategy has positive significantly moderate influence on performance of micro and small enterprises ,and focused differentiation strategy has moderate positive significant effect on performance of micro and small enterprises. Small firms facing today’s turbulent business environment often fail early in their life if they do not develop the necessary capabilities to survive. The main goal of this study is to investigate how IT and knowledge co-evolve, influencing a firm’s agility, within the context of micro and small enterprises (MSEs). Applying the resource-based view of the firm and dynamic capabilities, a multiple case study of eight firms was used to explore links among business, IT and knowledge strategies, resources, and capabilities. Links among IT and knowledge capabilities and firm agility were also explored. The results demonstrate that an MSE’s business strategy shapes, and is also shaped by, the firm’s IT and knowledge strategies; and that both IT and knowledge capabilities shape, and are shaped by, the firm’s agility, coevolving with it. By highlighting the important antecedents of small firm agility and presenting crucial links among agility, IT capabilities, and knowledge capabilities in MSEs, we encourage practitioners to think carefully about their IT and knowledge strategies and to rethink their use of firm resources and capabilities to develop agility in the face of environmental uncertainty and change.

In this study the authors tried to identify mediating role of innovation and moderating role of size of enterprise in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). The researchers also investigated the effect that vary from enterprise size that basically means micro and small enterprises. For the purpose of this study data was collected from 384 MSE's operating in Punjab province. Initially the data was analyzed using SPSS 22 and later on for the development of structure equation modeling Smart PLS-3 was used. Only two aspects of entrepreneurial orientation have been analyzed; first one is risk taking and second one is pro-activeness, third most common aspect innovation has been taken as mediating variable as an enterprise cannot be innovative if it has not the capacity of risk taking and pro-activeness. These both aspects are attached to performance and also deals with innovation. The major contribution of the study is to identify any moderating effect of size of the enterprise over the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, innovation and performance of MSEs. These elements basically show the contribution that is made by the innovation and performance of the MSE's. The objectives of the study were achieved, and it was found that there is no difference between performance of MSEs on the basis of entrepreneurial orientation and innovation. It is proved that the size of the enterprise is not the factor. The linkages found are affected by size of the enterprises.
