Ayurveda a science life which deals the maintenance of health and treatment for the diseases manifested in the human body. In Ayurveda many herbal and herbo-mineral formulations have been explained for disease treatment. Guduchi-Bhadramustadi yoga is herbal formulation explained in classical which consists of five herbal medicines and it has been converted in to Ghanavati form by following the sop in GMP certified pharmacy. It is a classical preparation used in the management of Kapha Dosha Vikaras by practitioners. Material & Methods: The present study was aimed to recognize the constituents of Guduchi-Badraustadi Ghanavati by using physico-chemical parameters, Qualitative analysis and Chromatography (HPTLC). Conclusion: This study will be useful for standardization of Guduchi-Badramustadi Ghanavati and for the preparation of the monography of this formulation for the Ayurvedic Formulary of India (AFI).

Ayurveda is concerned with the maintenance of life and the healing of illnesses that present themselves in the human body. Several herbal and Herbo mineral preparations have been explained in Ayurveda for the treatment of disease. Standardization is necessary to ensure batch to batch consistency, as well as for routine drug preparation on a large scale. Modification of old dosage forms and development of new dosage forms is an evolving process that leads significantly to the flourishing of science with a transforming lifestyle and people's interest. The preparation of granules consists of a refined form of Ghana (solid herbal extract preparation) and Khanda Kalpana (solid preparations similar to granules). Shalmali moola granule is a formulation for its beneficial properties such as, Balya (immuno-modulators), Rasayana (rejuvenator), Vajikarana (aphrodisiac) etc. Present study has elaborated standardization, physio-chemical parameters, Qualitative analysis and Chromatography (HPTLC) of Shalmali moola granules. Granules were prepared by adopting reference of Bhaishjya Rantavali and This study will be useful for standardization of Shalmali moola granule and for the preparation of the monography of this formulation for the Ayurvedic Formulary of India (AFI).

Background: Quality control and the standardization of herbal medicines involve steps like standard source and quality of raw materials, good manufacturing practices and adequate analytical screening. These practices play a vital role in guaranting the quality and stability of herbal preparations. Chandrashakaladi Vataka is an Ayurvedic herbal formulation mentioned to be beneficial in Kushtha. Till date no published data is available on its analytical profile. Aim: To develop the Pharmacognostical and Phyto-chemical profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka. Material and Methods: Chandrashakaladi Vataka was prepared as per classical method and analytical findings were recorded. Samples were subjected to organoleptic analysis, physico-chemical analysis and HPTLC examination by optimizing the solvent systems. Results and Conclusions: Pharmacognostical profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka was established. Loss on drying, Ash value, Acid insoluble extract, Methanol soluble extract, Chandrashakaladi Vataka was found within prescribed limits. HPTLC profile of Chandrashakaladi Vataka revealed 12 spots at 254 nm and 13 spots at 366 nm.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical systems having its own strong scientific concepts. Most herbal, Animal and mineral products are used to make Ayurvedic formulations and ancient Ayurvedic Aachaaryas have mentioned various methods to quality control and to standardization those formulations. And also it has been developed different techniques to evaluate the quality of medicines by modern science. So there is a current need of analyze Ayurvedic products also according to modern scientific pharmaceutical and pharmacognostical parameters for the global acceptance of Ayurveda. Hence the present study was carried out to pharmacognosticaly analyze the ingredients and finished product of Gandhakadi Yoga Vati and to analyze the Physico-chemical parameters of the same. Gandhakadi Yoga Vati is an Ayurvedic formulation used as an adjuvant in the management of Thalassemia Major. Pharmacognostical characteristics of Gandhakadi Yoga Vati  under the microscope showed that oil globules, stone cells & oleoresin contents, of Vidanga (Embelia robusta Burm.f.), fibers and oil globules of Agastya Pathra (S. grandiflora Linn.), warty trichome with base of Bhringaraja (E.alba L.) and crystaline depositions of Gandhaka. In the pharmaceutical study, it was observed that Loss on drying was 3.5 %w/w, pH was 6.5, Alcohol soluble extractive was 8.9 % w/w and water soluble extractive was 5.5 % w/w.  HPTLC study showed 06 peaks at 254 nm and 03 peaks at 366 nm wave lengths.

The quality control of herbal medicines has become a major concern to health authorities, health care providers and the manufacturing industries at every stage of production. The standardization of raw drugs and formulations with the help of modern analytical tools increase their scope, acceptance and scientific validity. The safety and efficacy of herbal medicines largely depend on their quality. Neelibhringadi keratailam is an excellent hair growth promoting oil widely prescribed and marketed in Kerala. All the ingredients in the formulation are best hair growth promoters. The knowledge of hair products, their mode of action, efficacy and ingredients has become more relevant today. Neelibhringadi keratailam manufactured by GMP certified Ayurvedic companies in Kerala was assessed by evaluating and comparing the physico chemical parameters of market samples of Neelibhringadi keratailam with that of prepared Neelibhringadi keratailam. Physico chemical parameters such as Acid value (AV), Iodine value (IV), Refractive index (RI) Saponification value (SV), Specific gravity (SG), Weight per milliliter, HPTLC, ICP-MS and microbial contamination of market samples were evaluated and compared with those of prepared sample. Neelibhringadi keram was prepared and its physicochemical analysis was done and compared with market samples. Analysis of the market samples showed significant variation in physicochemical analytical parameters, colour and consistency from the prepared samples.
