Interior design is a wide profession that can drastically influence how people feel and use a room. Marco Costa’s research on the effect of color in a room and Markus Canazei’s study on the effect of natural light in a room both focused on how adults were influenced by light and color in rooms.  This ultimately led to both studies in this research process focused on teenagers because there isn’t a great amount of research on how light and color can affect teenagers in a room. The results showed that teenagers have a preference towards neutral and cool tones as opposed to adults who prefer warm tones. Teenagers also have a preference towards natural light similar to adults. More research can be done on understanding how light and color can affect teenagers in other environments such as school settings. Further research is necessary to obtain more information on the psychological impact of interior design on teenagers.

This chapter reviews recent qualitative studies on personalized learning in middle/secondary school settings to analyze the role of culture in how this concept is enacted and researched. Personalized learning is posited as a pedagogical approach that aims to revolutionize schooling and challenge educational inequity by foregrounding learners’ agency in what and how they learn, tailoring pedagogy and its purpose to learners’ unique interests, needs, and abilities. Given the strong emphasis of the approach on the uniquenesses of the persons who are learning, our analysis interrogates the discourse on culture in studies on personalized learning and extrapolates how this discourse informs problem formulation, design and logic, sources of evidence, analysis and interpretation, and implications for practice. This review reveals a disconnect between the relevant literature on culture in learning and omissions of researchers and research participants’ cultural positionalities and identities. This appears to affect the quality of educational evidence, inhibiting a deep understanding of the implementation of the personalized learning approach for different communities of learners. We assert that research into practices that intend to meet the needs of diverse learners should center learner and researcher cultures and positionalities as part of a theory of change that permeates the entire research process.

The traditional research method of user consumption behavior influence is too subjective in the selection of indicators at the time of research, which leads to poor referenceability of research results. To this end, the problems of traditional influence research methods are improved by proposing a method for analyzing the influence of theme restaurant interior design on user consumption behavior based on the spatial layout of the interior environment. On the basis of analyzing user consumption behavior patterns and determining factors affecting consumption behavior, the influence model of user consumption behavior is constructed and statistical indicators are selected to complete the research process. The simulation experiment proves that the research results of applying the method can effectively improve the restaurant operation and have practical value.

BACKGROUND From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a great number of papers have been published in the pediatric field, even if the infection by SARS CoV-2 seems to be milder in children than in the elderly. OBJECTIVE By a bibliometric analysis of all the papers on COVID-19 in the pediatric field published in the first half of 2020, we aimed to assess the worldwide research on this topic, identifying publication trends and topic dissemination and showing the relevance of publishing authors, institutions and countries. METHODS Scopus database was comprehensively searched for all the indexed documents published between January 1, 2020 and June 11, 2020, dealing with COVID-19 in pediatric age. A machine learning bibliometric methodology was applied to evaluate the total number of papers and citations, journal and publication types, the top-productive institutions and countries and their scientific collaboration, the core keywords. RESULTS A total of 2301 papers were retrieved, with an average of 4.8 citations per article. Out of them, 1078 (46.9%) were research articles, 436 (18.9%) reviews, 363 (15.8%) letters, 186 (8.1%) editorials, 7 (0.3%) were conference papers, and 231 (10%) others. The studies were published in 969 different journals, headed by The Lancet. The retrieved papers were published by a total of 12657 authors from 114 countries. The most productive countries were the USA, China, and Italy. The four main clusters of keywords were: pathogenesis and clinical characteristics (keyword occurrences n=2240), public health issues (n=352), mental health (n=82), and therapeutic aspects (n=70). CONCLUSIONS In the pediatric field, a large number of articles were published in a limited period on COVID-19, testifying the rush to timely spread new findings on the topic. The leading authors, countries, and institutions evidently belong to the most seriously involved geographical areas. A focus on the pediatric population is often included in general articles and the pediatric research about COVID-19 mainly focused on the clinical features, public health issues, and psychological impact of the disease.

<p>As the population of New Zealand ages demand and popularity of retirement homes is increasing. This thesis argues that interior spaces of retirement homes can become more interesting and stimulating through the use of colour, and that a simple colour redesign of the common shared areas could achieve great benefits for the users. The main aim of this study is to explore how to create healing and comforting environment in retirement homes using colour as the main design driver. Based on the literature review it was possible to establish four key design colour strategies of healing; Views of nature, natural light, soothing colours and colours promoting interaction. Based on these, a series of design experiments were undertaken, developing a new set of approaches of how colour can be used in the interior design. Some of the design explorations were not focused on a particular site, but some considered the limitations of a possible site. The study succeeded in redesigning the selected site through a creative application of the four key design strategies of healing, but also supported development of a set of findings on how to use colour strategies more effectively in retirement homes. One of the key findings of this study is that the use of bright and saturated colour could prevent adverse effect of sensory deprivation associated with aging. This could have broader applications in interior architecture.</p>

Peace has been recognized as a matter of education and to be promoted at the initial level.  The present study attempts to generate a profile of activities toward peace education among prospective teachers.  The Nominal Group Technique (NGT) was used by selecting fifteen prospective teachers as a Nominal Group (NG). NGT was applied under a sequence of stages (idea generating, selection, listing, clarification, ranking and consensus stages). Results generated from the NGT were organized into three categories of student-related activities, teacher-focused activities, and administration and community- related activities. Participants’ preferences were higher for activities that included individual practical participation. Participation in the Action Research process was ranked at the  bottom. Tentative conclusions are drawn with regard to teacher education and peace studies.

Purpose Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) provide a framework for behavioral expectations in school systems for children with and without disabilities. Speech-language pathologists who work in school settings should be familiar with this framework as part of their role in improving the outcomes for children. The purpose of this tutorial is to discuss PBIS and its use in school settings. Method The authors provide an overview of the PBIS framework and focus on its applicability in classroom-based settings. The process of implementing PBIS in classrooms and other settings such as speech-language therapy is discussed. Conclusions This tutorial provides speech-language pathologists with an overview of PBIS and may facilitate their understanding of how to implement PBIS in nonclassroom settings.

Abstract Purpose: Federal regulations should be implemented to provide appropriate services for student-athletes who have sustained a concussion, which can result in impaired function in the academic setting. Eligibility guidelines for special education services do not specifically address the significant, but sometimes transient, impairments that can manifest after concussion, which occur in up to 10% of student-athletes. Method: We provide a definition of the word concussion and discuss the eligibility guidelines for traumatic brain injury and other health-impaired under IDEA, as is the use of Section 504. Results: The cognitive-linguistic and behavioral deficits that can occur after concussion can have a significant impact on academic function. We draw comparisons between the clinical presentation of concussion and the eligibility indicators in IDEA and Section 504. Conclusion: Speech-language pathologists are well-positioned to serve on concussion management teams in school settings, providing services including collection of baseline data, intervention and reassessment after a concussion has occurred, prevention education, and legislative advocacy. Until the cultural perception of concussion changes, with increased recognition of the potential consequences, student-athletes are at risk and appropriate implementation of the existing guidelines can assist in preservation of brain function, return to the classroom, and safe return to play.
