The Draw-A-Person (DAP) test has been the center of a long-lasting debate regarding its validity. This study investigated the DAP indices of height, width (size), and inclusion/omission of details and their relation to body image as measured by a self-report scale (Gray’s body image scale) and manifested by the diet behaviors and body mass index of 55 healthy female students. Although the drawings of the diet group were smaller, there was no significant relationship between figure size and diet behaviors. However, body image as measured by a self-report scale did result in significant differences between groups. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the size of the figure drawn and body image as measured by a self-report scale (larger figures correlated with better body image). No significant results were found for the omission/inclusion indices of the DAP. These results are discussed in light of previous findings regarding the DAP.

Rectovaginal fistula is an abnormal communication between the rectum and the vaginal. This leads to uncontrollable passage of feces and flatus through the vagina. It therefore causes distressing physical, social and psychological symptoms on the affected woman. The commonest cause of Rectovaginal Fistula is obstetric trauma commonly in developing countries with poor access to Obstetric care or substandard care provision. The case reported here highlights a rare situation in which a birth control measure of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUD) in a 36 years old healthy female leads to a high Rectovaginal fistula.Keywords: fecal incontinence, missing IUD, rectovaginal fistula

: Non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections have been drawing interest recently because of their rising incidence not only in immunocompromised but also in immunocompetent individuals. These are underdiagnosed in India, due to lack of awareness and a low index of suspicion. In regions endemic for tuberculosis (TB) such as India, presumptive anti-tubercular treatment (ATT) is often prescribed. Non-response of NTM to the treatment may be wrongly ascribed to multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. This emphasizes the need to correctly identify them before initiating therapy. We describe the case of a young, healthy female patient who developed cervical lymphadenitis and was given presumptive ATT. Microbiological examination of aspirate revealed M. fortuitum. This not only rectified the course of treatment resulting in complete cure, but also spared the patient from significant side effects of ATT. This case is an awakening call for clinicians to avoid presumptive ATT.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the Dictyophora echinovolvata spore polysaccharides (DESP) affect the immunity in immunocompromised mice induced by cyclophosphamide (CTX). The healthy female Kunming mice were randomly divided into six groups, including a normal control (NC) group, a positive control group, a model control (MC) group, and three groups treated with low-, intermediate-, and high-dose polysaccharide, respectively. A series of immunoregulatory properties were determined, including humoral and cellular immunity, immune function, and immune factors of mononuclear macrophages. Compared with NC and MC groups, treatment with DESP significantly increased the spleen index and decreased the thymus index; increased the serum concentrations of immunoglobulin (Ig)A, IgG, IgM, hemolysin, IL-1β, and IL-2; delayed the allergic reaction; and improved the splenic lymphocyte transformation ability; and enhanced the phagocytosis of macrophages and the ability to secrete IL-6, TNF-α, caspase-1, and NO with DESP supplementation. These results indicated that DESP might have a good regulatory effect on CTX-induced immunodeficiency in mice, adjust the body’s immune imbalance, and improve the symptoms of low immunity.
