Koto Panjang Reservoir is one of the hydroelectric power plants in Indonesia, located in Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This paper aims to determine the water quality and tropic status of the Koto Panjang Reservoir. The research was carried out along the Koto Panjang Reservoir, covering the floating net cages area, inlet, outlet, and the center of the reservoir. Water samples were collected twice a year, February and September 2017. The results showed that the water quality of Koto Panjang reservoir is still within the tolerance range for the aquatic organisms' life, including fish. Based on the TSI analysis, the Koto Panjang Reservoir throphic status was categorized as eutrophic to heavy eutrophic. This study recommends that relocating floating net cages is necessary so that the nutrient load will not only be concentrated in one location. The efficiency of using the feed for floating net cages could minimize the waste.

Improvements in existing hydroelectric power plants can increase quantity of production, but very often they are also designed to improve its quality, that is, peak generation capacity and availability of reserve energy, which in turn leads to a reduction of emissions in the producer part. An adequate valuation and economic recognition of the energy quality in remuneration seems essential to encourage these improvements. Frequent size discrimination acts against this recognition, because quality of energy is more often present in conventional-sized installations.

Yeşilırmak River is one of the most important running waters of Turkey, but the water quality of this river has been affected by agricultural and domestic pollution. Dams and hydroelectric power plants also threaten the habitat quality and biodiversity of the river. This research contains investigation of Diptera fauna in Yeşilırmak River and tributaries, determination ecological characteristics of the collecting sites according to System A and System B Classification of Water Framework Directive (WFD), assessment of water quality of the studied sites by measuring the physicochemical variables (water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, NO2-N, NO3-N, NH4-N, PO4-P) and using some metrics (abundance, number of taxa, Simpson Diversity Index, Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index, Margalef Diversity Index, Evenness). Thirty-three (33) sites were sampled from Yeşilırmak River and its tributaries in June 2010. Diptera individuals were detected in 20 of them. Two thousand four hundred forty-five (2445) individuals belonging to 12 families and 16 taxa were identified in 20 sampling sites. The water quality classes of the studied sites were Class III (moderate pollution) and Class IV (heavily pollution) according to values of physicochemical variables.

Abstract Every year, there are many floods on the planet, which have a significant impact on ensuring the safety of people and affects the quality of life. The development of modern modelling technologies makes it possible to predict various scenarios for the development of the situation and reduce the likelihood of negative consequences. This issue is especially relevant for settlements located in the immediate vicinity of hydroelectric power plants, since by regulating discharge costs from hydroelectric power plants, it is possible to safely pass flood waters avoiding flooding of residential buildings and infrastructure, but this requires knowing the flooding zones at different water levels and discharge costs. This paper presents the results of solving the problem of modelling the dynamics of flood waters within the boundaries of the settlement of Krasnoyarsk. To calculate the flooded areas, the TUFLOW program was used in the Surface-water Modelling System modelling environment, as well as neural network forecasting using the NeuroPro software product. The simulation results made it possible to predict local flooding of the settlement during the flood of 2021 and take preventive measures to reduce the risk of flooding.

A study of spatial and temporal variations on water quality and trophic status was conducted to determine the temporal (average reading by month) and spatial variations of water quality in Sembrong reservoir and to evaluate the trophic status of the reservoir. Water samples were collected once a month from November 2016 to June 2017 in seventeen (17) sampling stations at Sembrong Reservoir. Results obtained on the concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO), water temperature, pH and secchi depth had no significant differences compared to Total Phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll-a. The water level has significantly decreased the value of the water temperature, pH and TP. The water quality of Sembrong reservoir is classified in Class II which is suitable for recreational uses and required conventional treatment while TSI indicates that sembrong reservoir was in lower boundary of classical eutrophic (TSI > 50).

The activity of any enterprise is always associated with risk. This is especially true of hydropower enterprises, since they work in the conditions of renewable energy sources, which are directly dependent on nature. This necessitates the introduction of the concept of risk management, which will take into account risk factors in the process of developing and approving management decisions.Hydroelectric power plants play an important role in ensuring the required quality of electrical supply, participating in regulating voltage and frequency, covering the uneven part of daily load schedules, guaranteeing measured operation modes of nuclear and thermal power plants, increasing the safety and economy of operation of the final cycles load, performing the function of a temporary emergency and operational power reserve. The purpose of this article is to analyze the characteristics of risk management in hydropower, as well as to justify the development and feasibility of introducing the concept of risk management in hydropower.

ABSTRACTThe Brazil has great availability of fresh water in its springs. However, this river has been compromising the quality of its waters, a consequence of the process of use and occupation of the spaces in its basin. Highlighting as one of the main problems related to the quality of fluvial environments, eutrophication, which consists of the process in which the body of water acquires high levels of nutrients (phosphates and nitrates), is a determinant indicator of water quality. In this sense, the objective of this work was to characterize the water quality and trophic status in the Paciência river basin through the physico-chemical parameters, showing the most compromised stretches according to the values reached in the analyzes. The results of the analyzes were compared with CONAMA No. 357/05 which indicated a worrying situation regarding the quality of the water at the place of study. Keywords: Water quality; Eutrophication; Island of Maranhão. RESUMENBrasil tiene gran disponibilidad de agua dulce en sus manantiales.
