This research was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of high school students. The schools located in Rize Province were grouped (n: 9926). The number of samples was determined to be 370 according to the sample width formula, which is known as the number of individuals in the phase. A total of 449 volunteer students were selected from a high school in each group by simple random sampling method and the study was completed. To collect data, the personal information form and healthy lifestyle behaviors scale II, which were developed by the researcher, were used. The data were evaluated using percentile, ANOVA and t test. It was determined that the average score of healthy lifestyle behaviors scale II scores of the students was moderate with 128.06 ± 20.19. The average score of female students' health responsibility and interpersonal relationship scores were higher than male students (p <0.05). The average physical activity score of male students was found to be higher than that of female students (p <0.05). A significant positive correlation between the age of the students and the class with 'interpersonal relations' and the total score was found (p <0.05). The acquisition of positive health behaviors during the adolescence period is important to perform healthy behaviors in the future life of the individual. As a result of this study, it is suggested that education programs should be established to protect and improve the health of the students. Also, education should develop the self-efficacy of the students. Moreover, it should be conducted according to the low-scored areas and schools. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.ÖzetBu araştırma, lise öğrencilerinin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir.

This study aimed to determine whether problematic internet use and healthy lifestyle behaviors among high school students varied by gender, grade level, academic average, and school type variables and to investigate the relationship between problematic internet use and healthy lifestyle behaviors. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 310 students enrolled in three different high schools in Giresun province in Turkey, including 159 females and 151 males. The study employed the relational screening model. The data collection tools used in the study were the Problematic Internet Use Scale (PIUS), the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale (HLBS) and a Personal Information Form. Independent group t-test, one-way variance analysis, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient were utilized in the analysis of the data. The results of the study indicated that problematic internet use varied by grade level, academic average, and school type variable, it did not show a difference according to gender and whether parents live together or apart variables, and that healthy lifestyle behaviors did not show any difference according to any variables at all. In the study, a low negative correlation was found between problematic internet use and healthy lifestyle behaviors. The findings of the study were interpreted and discussed in light of related literature.

Article visualizations:

The purpose of the present review was to examine the effects of Physical Education-based stretching programs on hamstring extensibility in high school students. Relevant studies were searched from 10 databases. The results suggested that students should performed stretching programs at least for a duration of 5-6 weeks, a frequency of twice a week, and a volume per session of 30-60 s (20-30 s per set) to obtain improvements on the hamstring extensibility. Stretching programs with higher duration, frequency and volume seems to obtain greater effects. Although the most studies obtained flexibility improvements using static techniques, dynamic stretching exercises performed in a controlled manner also produced improvements and they were safety. After a four-week detraining period, students reverted back to their baseline levels. Teachers should implement stretching programs to improve the students’ flexibility during the Physical Education classes.

The development of information technologies, their availability for every family, the transition to distance learning could not but affect health status of schoolchildren. In the past year, amid the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the time that schoolchildren spend with gadgets has significantly increased. The relevance of this study is determined by the evaluation of the ever-increasing and, as a rule, negative impact of computer technologies on the health of schoolchildren. The study aimed to investigate the features of the effect information technologies have on the well-being of high school students and to analyze the role teachers play in popularization of healthy lifestyle and reduction of the degree of influence of information technologies on health of modern schoolchildren.
