Due to the threat posed by COVID-19, many colleges and universities around the world opted to switch to online courses and smart working to keep their students, professors, and staff safe during the pandemic emergency. Face-to-face classes, including labs and workshops, have been canceled and substituted with online activities. New administrative procedures have also been established to support the emergency remote education. This article analyzes these changes in light of the experiences of three higher education institutions in different countries, namely Latvia, Poland, and Italy. From this analysis, some aspects have emerged that have stimulated a deeper reflection on the use of digital technology in higher education. .

El presente artículo tiene como propósito realizar un estudio sobre las percepciones en torno a una educación remota y a una educación híbrida en la educación superior.  El estudio de caso de un programa universitario de posgrado se articula con el enfoque de la investigación basada en el diseño para analizar percepciones sobre una educación remota en tiempos de pandemia e identificar factores claves de éxito para una nueva normalidad educativa a partir de los microciclos de la fase de implementación.  Entre los hallazgos, se reconoce que una educación remota respondió a la emergencia de la pandemia y se identificaron factores claves de éxito tales como la temporalización del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, la docencia sincrónica, el diseño tecnopedagógico de los entornos virtuales de aprendizaje, y la transformación digital universitaria.  Estos resultados permiten resignificar el concepto tradicional de educación híbrida incorporando fortalezas de la educación remota, y reposicionándola como una modalidad de estudio estratégica para una nueva normalidad educativa que recupere progresivamente la presencialidad y expanda el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. La presente investigación contribuye a plantear pistas desde la educación híbrida hacia una renovada educación postpandemia. The purpose of this article is to lead a case study on perceptions around remote education and hybrid education in higher education.  The case study of a graduate university program is articulated by the design-based research approach for analyzing perceptions about remote education in the Covid-19 pandemic and to identify key success factors for new educational normality through the microcycle of análisis and exploration.  Among the findings, it is recognized that remote education responded to the emergency of the pandemic and identified key success factors such as teaching and learning timing, synchronous teaching, instructional design of virtual learning environments, and digital transformation in universities. These results allow us to re-signify the formal concept of blended learning including key strengths of remote learning and consider it as a strategic learning model for new higher education normality that will progressively recover face-to-face classrooms and expand students’ learning. This research contributes to raising clues from blended learning to renovate post-pandemic education

Relatar a vivência docente e discente e suas percepções sobre o ensino remoto na enfermagem frente à pandemia da COVID-19. Trata-se de um relato de experiência a respeito do ensino remoto emergencial, experienciado por discentes e docentes do curso superior de enfermagem em meio a pandemia pela COVID-19. A forma de adesão das aulas remotas deu-se mediante a plataformas digitais de acesso on-line com a criação de ambientes de sala de aula por chamadas de vídeo em tempo real. A modalidade de ensino remoto trouxe consigo aspectos positivos bem como desafios importantes acerca do processo de aprendizagem em enfermagem. A experiência com o ensino remoto em meio a pandemia do COVID-19 tem demonstrado inúmeros desafios para formação do enfermeiro, porém é considerada uma alternativa temporária de caráter emergencial eficaz para minimização de danos sociais e educacionais no período crítico atual.Descritores: Educação em Enfermagem, Enfermagem, Ensino, Pandemias. Remote teaching in nursing among the covid-19 pandemicAbstract: To report the teaching and student experience and their perceptions about remote teaching in nursing in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an experience report about emergency remote education, experienced by students and professors of higher education in the midst of a pandemic by COVID-19. The form of adherence to remote classes took place through digital platforms for online access with the creation of classroom environments by video calls in real time. The remote teaching modality brought with it positive aspects as well as important challenges regarding the learning process in nursing. The experience with remote education in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown numerous challenges for the training of nurses, but it is considered a temporary alternative of an effective emergency nature to minimize social and educational damage in the current critical period.Descriptors: Education, Nursing, Nursing, Teaching, Pandemics. Enseñanza remota en enfermería entre la pandemia covid-19Resumen: Reportar la experiencia docente y estudiantil y sus percepciones sobre la enseñanza remota en enfermería ante la pandemia de COVID-19. Este es un reporte de experiencia sobre educación remota de emergencia, experimentado por estudiantes y profesores del curso de enfermería en medio a la pandemia por COVID-19. La forma de adhesión a las clases remotas fueran mediante plataformas digitales de acceso en línea, con la creación de entornos de clases mediante videollamadas en tiempo real. La modalidad de enseñanza remota trajo consigo aspectos positivos y desafíos importantes con respecto al proceso de aprendizaje en enfermería. We live in a period when schools are involuntarily closed; human life gradually slowed down and came to a halt due to a pandemic, but distance education is already underway. While some higher education institutions have been struggling to meet distance education, the ones that have currently provided distance education in many parts of the world continued to maintain their existing educational systems in the time of the pandemic. In this connection, the central objective of this paper is to explore how online solutions and attempts have been defined under the term of “emergency remote education” since the first outbreak of the pandemic and how pandemic pedagogy during COVID-19 has contributed to emergency remote education and online education both in the world and specifically in Turkey. As there has been a gradual shift in higher education lately, this chapter is a response to educational crisis specifically for English teaching and learning at a distance from a positive perspective.
