RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RUBBER OIL AND ANTI-YELLOWING PERFORMANCE OF OIL-EXTENDED THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER STYRENE–BUTADIENE–STYRENE
ABSTRACT The relationship between structural composition of rubber oil and anti-yellowing performance of oil-extended polystyrene-block-polybutadiene-block-polystyrene triblock copolymer (SBS) was studied in this work. The experimental results proved that anti-yellowing of oil-extended SBS was determined by the rubber oil and was irrelevant with SBS. The anti-yellowing performance of the SBS filled with paraffinic-based rubber oil was better than that of the SBS filled with naphthenic-based rubber oil. In addition to the partially hydrogenated aromatic hydrocarbons in rubber oil, heavy naphthenic hydrocarbons may be another factor that results in yellowing of rubber oil and oil-extended SBS.
