Objective: Serrated colorectal lesions are a group of colonic lesions with a serrated (saw-tooth) profile of the surface epithelium and crypts and peculiar molecular and genetic developmental mechanisms that are incompletely understood. These formations cause concern due to their premalignant potential. Aim: The review is dedicated to serrated lesions of the colon and appendix. We focused on modern classification, its role in carcinogenesis, and new approaches to morphological diagnosis. Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed, Scopus, ResearchGate, Google, MEDLINE, and ScienceDirect databases to find studies of serrated colorectal lesions related cancer published between 2000 and 2020 that address epidemiological of risk factors, underlying pathophysiological mechanism and enable our review of these factors as well molecular, genetics, and structural patterns. Results: Serrated colorectal lesions take one-third of all benign neoplasms of the colon in the pathologist’s practice. The active study of serrated lesions began in the 1900s. Terminology and diagnostic criteria were changed in the updated classification in 2019. Morphological criteria, immunohistochemical and molecular profile, endoscopic and clinical characteristics are reviewed. Conclusion: Significant efforts were made to improve our understanding and diagnostic criteria of serrated polyps of the colorectum. Very little change has occurred since the original morphologic description of preneoplastic serrated lesions in the early 2000s. More research remains needed to develop more definitive immunophenotypic and molecular biomarkers to distinguish between non-neoplastic and neoplastic serrated lesions.

AbstractIntroductionMixed bipolar states are not infrequent and may be extremely difficult to treat. Lithium, anticonvulsants including valproate and carbamazepine, and antipsychotics such as olanzapine, ziprasidone, and aripiprazole have been reported to be at least partially effective in controlled clinical trials, but many patients do not respond to pharmacological approaches. Electroconvulsive therapy has been tested to be efficacious for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes, but much less evidence is available with regards to mixed states. The aim of the review was to report the available evidence for the use of electroconvulsive therapy in mixed bipolar states.MethodsA systematic review of the literature on treatment of mixed states, focused on electroconvulsive therapy, was made, beginning in August 1992 and ending in March 2007. The key words were “electroconvulsive therapy” and “mixed bipolar”.ResultsOnly three studies met the required quality criteria and were included. This literature suggests that ECT is an effective, safe, and probably underutilized treatment of mixed states. Recent technical developments have made ECT more friendly, tolerable, and safe. Potential alternatives, such as vagus nerve stimulation, deep brain stimulation, or transcranial stimulation, are still far to be proved as effective as ECT.

The problem of planning local wireless network IEEE 802.11g consists of automatically positioning and setting up wireless access points (APs) in order to provide access to the local network with the desired coverage and the required quality of service (QOS).In addition to the complexity of predicting the Quality of Service (QoS) of a network from the variables of the problem (positions, parameters and frequency of the APs), the planning of WLAN networks faces several difficulties. In particular, the location of APs and the allocation of frequencies. There is no single model to solve the problem of designing wireless local networks. Depending on the situations and the hypotheses studied, different criteria can be considered and expressed in terms of constraints to be observed or in terms of objectives to be optimized. The first distinction is to separate the financial criteria from the network quality criteria. The nature of these two criteria being fundamentally different. Then there are a variety of service quality criteria, but we can still group them into three main categories: coverage criteria, interference criteria and capacity criteria.. In this article, we will use an optimization method based on an algorithm of stochastic optimization, which is also based on the mechanisms of natural selection and of genetic. It is genetic algorithm. Our goal consist of minimizing the total interaction between the APs to perform the good choices when deploying a network 802.11g in a way that gives users signal-to-interference ratios (SIR) greater than the required threshold ß.

Magnesia binders provide strength to the stone, but have one drawback-low resistance and salt resistance. Increasing water and salinity tolerance, mechanical strength of the hardening magnesia binders can be achieved by introducing the system of micro-aggregates. The quality criteria that determine the activity of the micro filler are: high chemical resistance to water, aggressive media, high mechanical strength. Among the effective microfillers composite magnesia binders include diopside, wollastonite. It is shown that the introduction of 60-80 wt%. wollastonite or diopside with a specific surface of 2000-3500 cm2/g provides significant improvement in strength and water resistance that allows you to lengthen the lifespan and maintain the required quality of products based on composite of magnesia binders.

Within the last few years, adrenal cortical tumors with features concordant with the diagnostic criteria attributed to oncocytomas have been reported. To date, only nine reported cases exist in the literature. This report is the tenth case presentation of a presumptively benign neoplasm of the adrenal gland with a rare differentiation. Oncocytomas are well recognized benign tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands and of the kidney. Other organs also give rise to these types of tumors, however with less frequency than the former sites. The characteristics generally used to classify a tumor as an oncocytoma include the following criteria: the tumor is 1) usually a solitary circumscribed mass with no gross nor microscopic evidence of metastasis (no tissue nor vascular invasion), 2) fairly bland in terms of mitotic activity and nuclear morphology, and 3) composed of large eosinophillic cells in which the cytoplasm is packed full of mitochondria (Figure 1).

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the frequency and type of speech disfluencies (stuttering-like and nonstuttering-like) in bilingual Spanish–English (SE) children who stutter (CWS) to SE children who do not stutter (CWNS) during narrative samples elicited in Spanish and English to provide further diagnostic information for this population and preliminary data toward an expansion of this study. Method Participants included six bilingual SE children (three CWS, three CWNS) ranging in age from 5 years to 7;5 (years;months) and recruited from the surrounding Houston, Texas area. Participants provided a narrative sample in English and Spanish. The frequency of speech disfluencies was tabulated, and mean length of utterance was measured for each sample. Results Results indicate that both talker groups exceed the diagnostic criteria typically used for developmental stuttering. Regardless of the language being spoken, CWS participants had a frequency of stuttering-like speech disfluencies that met or exceeded the diagnostic criteria for developmental stuttering that is based on monolingual English speakers. The CWNS participants varied in meeting the criteria depending on the language being spoken, with one of the three CWNS exceeding the criteria in both languages and one exceeding the criteria for percentage of stuttering-like speech disfluencies in one language. Conclusion Findings from this study contribute to the development of more appropriate diagnostic criteria for bilingual SE-speaking children to aid in the reduction of misdiagnoses of stuttering in this population.
