A number of studies in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have suggested that corporates accountable for social responsibilities had better financial performance. However, this relationship had remained undiscovered in Vietnam. The purpose of this research was to examine a link between Corporate Social Responsibility disclosures and firm value in Vietnam. A sample of 50 companies listed on stock exchanges in Hochiminh City (HOSE) and Hanoi (HNX) were investigated from 2010 to 2013. Content of annual reports were analyzed to measure corporate social responsibilities, and Tobin’s Q ratio was proxied for firm value. Regression analysis tests indicated that social responsibility disclosures are associated with following year’s firm value. Specifically, the relationship between environmental information provision and following year’s firm value was positive, while that between employee disclosures and firm value was negative. The results show a positive sign for Vietnamese firms that take on environmental responsibilities.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to provide more knowledge about the model to generate reputation and its relationship in the long term with companies’ strategy of social responsibility. Particularly, research is done to test whether there is a positive effect of firms’ social behaviour (corporate social responsibility [CSR]), analysing differences of intensity and consistency, on their corporate reputation (CR) and whether the current financial crisis is a factor that has changed the relationship between both variables (moderator factor). Design/methodology/approach – This study uses a sample of 26 Spanish large firms of the Ibex35 index and covers an eight-year period from 2004 to 2011. To test the hypotheses of this research, a fixed-effects model was estimated using moderating regression analysis. Findings – The results obtained show that, for the Spanish Ibex35 companies, CSR practices according to their consistency have a significant positive effect on CR and in turbulent environments, as in the current financial crisis, it has had a significant positive influence on the CSR-CR relationship. Originality/value – Although a substantial number of empirical studies have examined the relationship between firms’ strategy and their performance, only a few of them have analysed the impact of the external environment on this relationship, whereby there is a need for longitudinal studies with different economic scenarios to achieve better knowledge of the CSR–CR relationship.

In recent years, attention has been increasingly paid to social-, environmental-, and ecology-related issues in the areas of diverse business operations. The concept of sustainable development of enterprises is an attempt to integrate a diverse set of requirements for the development of companies in the long-term future. The concept, which is set in a contradictory context of economic, social, and environmental aspects, is an attempt to balance fundamentally divergent requirements and aspirations. Sustainable enterprise development can be a source of competitiveness, provided the opportunities related to it are identified and implemented in a proper way. The research objective of this study is to diagnose the relationship between the company’s orientation towards the implementation of sustainability assumptions, the degree of implementation of the objectives of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, as well as the creation of value in a sustainable enterprise. The survey was conducted on a sample of 165 FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) sector enterprises. The results indicate the existence of a positive correlation between the variables analysed in the surveyed enterprises. Entrepreneurs guided by sustainable development pursue economic and non-economic values and have a more comprehensive set of appropriate measures necessary to create value in a sustainable enterprise, which consists of achieving economic, ecological, and social goals.

Firm innovation creates an informational asymmetry between the firm and outside stakeholders. Since CSR activities have been shown to reduce asymmetries and risk we surmise that firms use discretionary CSR activities to reduce the asymmetries from innovation. We study an innovation intense industry (technology) and find results that support the hypothesis that firms use CSR to signal long term viability of innovative activities.

ABSTRACTICSR disclosure becomes an important issue that could effect reputation and profitability of Islamic Bank. a lot of empirical research on the effect of ICSR disclosure to profitability indicates an inconsistent result. Misspecification of the research model and the ICSR strategy could be the cause of it. The study aims to examine the impact of ICSR disclosure to profitability by considering reputation as a mediating variable and visibility as a variable that moderates the effect of ICSR disclosure on reputation. Quantitative approach with PLS SEM method is applied to confirm the hypothesis. 10 Indonesian Islamic Banks on 2014-2019 period are take as a sample. The estimation results show that ICSR disclosure has positive effect on reputation and profitability. It also indicates that Islamic bank visibility moderates the correlation between ICSR disclosure and reputation. However, Islamic bank reputation isn’t proven to mediate the correlation between ICSR disclosure and the profitability. The implication of the study result is that ICSR disclosure is important for the Islamic banks because it can affect its reputation and profitability. Although reputation itself is not proven to affect profitability, it can be a strategic resource for a bank. In addition, for high-visibility Islamic banks, disclosure of ICSR is crutial because of its greater impact that is proven to affect the relationship of ICSR disclosure to reputation. Keywords: Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure, Mediating Variable, Moderating Variable, Profitability, Islamic Bank.

This study explores the extent to which employee turnover, a proxy variable to employee loyalty, helps mediate the relationship between Taiwanese firms’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance and financial outcome. The results show that a firm’s CSR performance is negatively correlated with employee turnover and turnover variability, and moreover, employee turnover is negatively correlated with a firm’s financial performance. The result is especially noteworthy for studies regarding Taiwanese companies since quite a few of them are original equipment manufacturers (hereafter also referred to as OEMs), of intermediate goods. For the sample firms, although the contribution of social responsibility appears to have insignificantly direct benefit on financial performance, we document that the extent to which CSR conducts influence on long-term financial outcomes may be moderated and mediated by employee enthusiasm.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between the concept of corporate social responsibility and the most important characteristics of banking – the efficiency and stability in a sample of twelve Ukrainian banks, which are the biggest banks in Ukraine according to the classification of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). Our research covers the period from 2006 to 2012. Based on the literature review we construct two main hypothesis related to the impact on the corporate social responsibility concept (CSR) of the following independent variables: 1 – efficiency (as a short term period characteristics of banking), 2 – stability (as a long term characteristics of banking).
