The aim of our study was to investigate histopathologically the incidence of gastrointestinal tract tumours in dogs in the Czech Republic in relation to their age, sex and breed. In total, 29 gastric and 45 intestinal tumours from 3827 gastrointestinal tract biopsies were investigated. The average age of dogs with gastric lymphoma, adenocarcinoma, and other mesenchymal tumours was 7.3 years, 9.5 years, and > 10 years, respectively. Breed predisposition to adenocarcinoma was evidenced in the Belgian Shepherd and Leonberger, to lymphoma in the Doberman (P < 0.01). The most frequent site of adenocarcinoma was antrum pyloricum (66.7%); lymphomas involved gastric wall diffusely. The average age of dogs with intestinal adenoma, adenocarcinoma, lymphoma, leiomyoma or leiomyosarcoma and carcinoid was 7.5, 8.5, 8.5, 12, and 14 years, respectively. The age predisposition to intestinal adenoma and lymphoma was 7–8 years (P < 0.01) and to adenocarcinoma 7–8 years (P < 0.05); mesenchymal tumours occurred at the age of 11–12 years (P < 0.01). Breed predisposition to intestinal adenoma was evidenced in the Pug, Leonberger and English Setter (P < 0.01), to adenocarcinoma in the English Setter (P < 0.01) and Hovawart (P < 0.05), to lymphoma in the Doberman and Hovawart (P < 0.05). The most frequent site of occurrence of intestinal tumours was the colorectal region. The study revealing breed, sex and age predisposition to gastrointestinal tumours in dogs has not been described yet in the literature.

Aim. To study the range of medicinal extracts at the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine as of 2020 in order to determine the feasibility of developing a new medicinal product based on them.Materials and methods. The bibliosemantic, analytical, logical research methods were used to analyze the literature sources; the analytical analysis was applied to study the segment of the domestic pharmaceutical market regarding the range of medicinal extracts as of 2020. Thus, their composition, distribution by the aggregate state, forms of production and country of origin, harmonization with the Ph. Eur. were analyzed.Results. It has been determined that the domestic pharmaceutical market has 18 extracts, all of them are liquid. Among all extracts registered in Ukraine the leading place (16 items) belongs to the Ukrainian manufacturers. The nomenclature of imported drugs consists of 1 extract of Vietnamese and 1 of Swiss production. Among the Ukrainian manufacturers, the largest market segment belongs to PJSC “Lubnipharm” ‒ 4 drugs; “Rotokan” is available in 55 and 110 ml bottles, while “Aloe extract”, solution for injection, 1 ml, No. 10, in ampoules is produced by PJSC “Lubnipharm” and CJSC “Darnytsia”; “Eleutherococcus extract”, 50 ml, in a bottle ‒ by LLC “Unipharma” (“Ternopharm”) and agricultural firm “Yan”. There are 19 drugs with extracts at the domestic pharmaceutical market; among them the largest market segment is occupied by drugs in the form of tablets and capsules (7 items), 2 oral solutions, 1 drug in the form of oral drops, 1 syrup and powder for oral solution. Most drugs containing extracts are made by the Ukrainian manufacturers (about 47 %), while manufacturers from Germany, France and Switzerland supply 2 drugs each, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovenia and the Czech Republic ‒ 1 drug each.Conclusions. There are 18 extracts and 19 preparations with extracts at the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine. Most of the drugs in this sample are hypnotics and sedatives (55 %), as well as drugs used in diseases of the liver and biliary tract, they improve digestion and the functional state of the gastrointestinal tract.

Abstract This paper aims to provide an efficiency evaluation of selected hospital bed care providers during years 2010 -2012 with respect to selected factors: The size of the hospital establishment according to number of beds, number of hospitalized patients, the average length of stay per a patient in care, total staff cost calculated per bed, total revenues calculated per bed, and total costs calculated per bed. For this purpose, hospitals providing primarily acute bed care were chosen. From the legal point of view, they are allowance organizations of a particular region. The evaluation concerns both allocative efficiency and technical efficiency. The allocative efficiency is treated from the proper algorithm point of view and it compares total costs calculated per bed with total revenues calculated per bed. A method denominated Data Envelopment Analysis was applied for the calculation of the technical efficiency of units. To be more specific, it was input-oriented model with constant returns to scale (CCR). The input parameters involve the number of beds, the average length of stay and costs per day of stay. Output parameters were as follows: Bed occupancy in days and the number of hospitalized patients. The data published by the Institute of Health Information and Statistic of the Czech Republic and by ÚFIS system (the Data Base of Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic) were used as the source of data. The evaluation implies that only three hospitals were economically-effective: Silesian Hospital in Opava, Hospital Jihlava, and TGM Hospital Hodonín. The most significant factor influencing the efficiency was determined - the average length of stay.
