The presence of 65 zoosporic fungi species was noted in the water obtained from melting ice from five water (3 ponds and 2 rivers). In the water of the all basins the number of zoosporic fungus species decreases along with the increasing chemical loading (more eutrophic water). Out of these 65 species, 18 are known as necrotrophs of fish. The following fungi were recorded for the first time from Poland: <em>Achlya conspicua</em>, <em>Apodachlyella completa</em>, <em>Pythiomorpha undulata</em>, <em>Pythium butleri</em>, <em>Pythium carolinianum</em>, <em>Pythium gracile</em>, <em>Pythium imperfectum</em>, <em>Pythium indicum</em>, <em>Pythium irregulare</em>, <em>Pythium myriotylum</em>, <em>Pythium papillatum</em>, <em>Pythium pyrilobum</em> and <em>Pythium rostratum</em>.

AbstractThe mycoflora developing on the spawn of nine species of amphibians was investigated under laboratory conditions. Fifty-two zoosporic fungus species were found to grow on the spawn investigated, including 6 chytridiomycetes, 1 hyphochytriomycete, 44 oomycetes and 1 zygomycete fungus. Out of these 52 species, 23 are known as parasites or necrotrophs of fish. Five fungus species were recorded for the first time from Poland.

Strains of Actinoplanes spp. were evaluated for their in vitro parasitism of oospores of Pythium aphanidermatum, Pythium arrhenomanes, Pythium irregulare, Pythium myriotylum, and Pythium ultimum. Oospores of Pythium arrhenomanes, Pythium irregulare, and Pythium myriotylum were identified for the first time as hosts of Actinoplanes spp. Newly recorded parasites of oospores of Pythium spp. were Actinoplanes azureus, Actinoplanes brasiliensis, Actinoplanes caeruleus, Actinoplanes ferrugineus, Actinoplanes ianthinogenes, Actinoplanes italicus, Actinoplanes minutisporangius, Actinoplanes rectilineatus, Actinoplanes teichomyceticus, Actinoplanes utahensis, Actinoplanes violaceous, Actinoplanes yunnahenis, plus 15 strains of Actinoplanes yet to be speciated. Parasitized oospores had disorganized cytoplasms and hyphae of Actinoplanes sp. emerging from them. Infection of oospores in vitro varied from 0 to > 90%. Strains also were very active parasites of oospores in sterile soils. When added to nonsterile soils, several strains increased (p = 0.05) the level of oospore parasitism compared with nonsupplemented soils. Strains of Actinoplanes spp. exhibited a host specificity for species of Pythium in vitro and in soil. Sporulation of Actinoplanes sp. from infected oospores incubated on soil was frequent and more abundant than that observed in vitro.Key words: Pythium spp., Actinoplanes spp., actinomycetes, biological control, host–parasite specificity.

Zoosporic fungi and environmental factors in 5 springs were analysed at monthly intervals for one year. A total of 83 zoosporic fungus species were noted. 13 species are new to the hydromycoflora of Poland.

Zoosporic fungi are reported for the first time from soils of the Queen Charlotte Islands. Seventy-two species in 21 genera from 128 sites are included in this report. Developmental details and taxonomic problems are discussed for selected species.

Populations of Synchaeta jollyae (Shiel & Koste, 1993) (Rotifera), a species recently recorded for the first time in Brazil and South America, were analyzed in reservoirs in Southeast Brazil. Sampling was carried out monthly from August 2006 to July 2007 at Furnas Reservoir in the Rio Grande basin, state of Minas Gerais, and in four cascade reservoirs in the Tietê River basin (Barra Bonita, Bariri, Ibitinga and Nova Avanhandava) state of São Paulo, in June and September 2008 and in January and May 2009. Synchaeta jollyae occurred in most samples and periods. From the results obtained it is evident that S. jollyae occurs in water bodies of varied trophic status but reaches larger populations in eutrophic water bodies and during lower temperature periods. The greatest densities of S. jollyae were found in the eutrophic Bariri Reservoir, on the Tietê River, during the winter. Mann-Whitney test confirmed the significant difference between the population densities in periods of high and low temperatures, with populations reaching higher densities at lower temperatures. It is not yet possible to tell whether S. jollyae is a widely distributed species that has been overlooked in previous plankton studies in South America. Wherever these populations of S. jollyae might have originated, it appears to be a species well established and adapted to a wide range of conditions in the Neotropics.

As a result of our studies aiming to determine the lichen mycota of the James Ross Island (Antarctic Peninsula), we report Peltigera castanea, a species in the P. didactyla complex from Antarctica and Southern Hemisphere for the first time. Collections were evaluated using morphological, anatomical and molecular characteristics (nrITS). Peltigera castanea has foliose, 4-6 cm lobate thallus; upper surface dark brown to chestnut brown, weakly tomentose (especially in the margins of the lobes) and sorediate. The morphological and ecological variations of this species are discussed in this paper.

Hydromacrophyte flora of 22 water bodies in the Kurgan Region was studied in 2017. The aquatic study was conducted within the 6 administrative districts of the Kurgan Region: Chastoozersky (4), Petrovsky (2) Makushinski (7), Lebyazhyevsky (4), Vargashinsky (2), and Mokrousovsky (3). The area of the research was between 55 09 minutes of the North latitude and 5548 of the North latitude, from West to East - between 6553 of the East latitude and 69 19 minutes of the East latitude. During the research we selected and recorded samples of macroalgae and collected herbarium of higher hydromacrophytes. The paper contains data on species composition and frequency of hydromacrophytes occurrence; new location of Ruppia maritima L. that is considered to be rare in the Kurgan Region was found. Its the first time the specific structure of mаcroscopic algae has been given for the territory of research. It is noted that the species of Chara contraria A. Br., is a rare one, and here it is located on the Northern border of its distribution, therefore it needs protection. Most of the identified species of hydromacrophytes are common in the West Siberian plain (Northern Kazakhstan, Tyumen Region). The paper also contains information about the location of invasive species Elodea canadensis Michx. The obtained materials can serve as a basis for further hydrobotanical study of water reservoirs in the Kurgan Region.

Chitinophilic fungi in various types of water bodies (slough, pond, beach pool, two lakes and two rivers) were studied. Samples of water were collected every other month for hydrochemical analysis and once a month ( 1992 - 1994) in order to determine the fungus content. The wings of dragonfly and flies, carapaces of crayfish and potato beetle and the fructification of two mushrooms were used as bait. Thirty species of chitinophilic fungi were found in various types of water bodiss. <i>Cytriomyces annulatus, Entophlyctis crenata, Obelidium megarrhizum, Rhopalophlyctis sareoptoides, Achlya colorata, A. megasperma</i> and <i>Dictyuchus monosporus</i> represent new records as chitinophilic fungi. However, <i>Entophlyctis crenata, Obelidium megarrhizum</i> and <i>Podochytrium chitinophilum</i> reported for the first time from Poland.

<em>Ophiocordyceps stylophora</em>, a rare fungus species in Europe, was first recorded in one locality in Poland in 2011. This paper concerns 33 specimens found between 2011 and 2015 in 23 new localities in five areas. Amongst the described specimens, one was found on the Tenebrionidae beetle, and others grew on Elateridae larvae. For the first time, Tenebrionidae larvae have been observed as hosts of <em>O. stylophora</em>. Five new positions have been located in the southern part of Poland in the area of Oszast and Reberce nature reserves, Babia Góra and Roztocze national parks, and one has been found in the northern part of Poland, in the Elbląg Upland Landscape Park.

In the project aiming to determine the lichen mycota of James Ross Island, we identified a new lichenicolous fungus species which is reported from Antarctica for the first time: Sphaerellothecium reticulatum on Flavoparmelia gerlachei. Although this species was identified on other parmelioid lichens, it was never reported on Flavoparmelia spp.
