A group of Amazonian harvestmen is recognized and described as Amazochroma gen. nov. This taxon includes Discocyrtus carvalhoi Mello-Leitão, 1941 (type species), the only species of Discocyrtus previously thought to occur in Amazonia, and Amazochroma pedroi gen. et sp. nov., described here from the Brazilian states of Acre and Rondônia. New records are added for Amazochroma carvalhoi gen. et comb. nov, expanding its distribution from the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso northwards also to Pará and Amazonas in Brazil and additionally French Guiana and Suriname. Diagnostic features of Amazochroma gen. nov. include: trichromatic pattern of legs, dry marks on the dorsal scutum and base of legs and diastema in the row of macrosetae C of the penis ventral plate. A morphological maximum parsimony analysis (1022 scorings; 16 taxa; 64 characters) is performed to test whether Amazochroma gen. nov. is a member of Discocyrtus and if the traditional allocation of Discocyrtus in Pachylinae is defendable. A clade is retrieved containing three groups: (1) Mitobatinae, (2) Discocyrtus and (3) a clade containing Amazochroma gen. nov., Discocyrtanus and Roeweria, here described as a new subfamily of Gonyleptidae – Roeweriinae subfam. nov. Discocyrtanus Roewer, 1929 and Roeweria Mello-Leitão, 1923 are accordingly here transferred from Pachylinae to Roeweriinae subfam. nov.

The state of Mato Grosso is the 3rd largest Brazilian state, is covered with three major Brazilian biomes, including the Pantanal, Cerrado, and Amazonia. To date, 449 ant species are recorded in literature for the state. In the present work, we documented the ants sampled along a fragmented landscape, in the municipality of Juara, in the Cerrado-Amazon transition zone in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The ant species were captured with Pitfall traps installed in 20 trails with 10 traps in each (totaling 200). Our results show 151 species, belonging to 43 genera and eight subfamilies, of which 28 species were recorded for the first time in the state and five species recorded for the first time in Brazil. Most genera collected were Pheidole Westwood, 1839 (45 species) followed by Crematogaster Lund, 1831 (11 species). By highlighting species recorded for the first time in state of Mato Grosso and Brazil, we hope to encourage new discoveries and increase the general knowledge of the ant fauna of different biomes in the region.

Two new genera, Freytagolidia, type-species Freytagolidia ligula sp. nov. and Neodocalidia, type-species Neodocalidia connectiva sp. nov., from Colombia are described and illustrated. Nineteen additional new species are described and illustrated in the following genera: Baluba sharkeyi sp. nov. (Colombia), Bolidiana robusta sp. nov. (Colombia), B. trisetacea sp. nov. (French Guiana), B. elongata sp. nov. (Colombia), Harasupia lyrata sp. nov. (Mexico), Hastalidia acinaca sp. nov. (Peru), Jalorpa constricta sp. nov. (Colombia), Licontinia minutasetacea sp. nov. (Colombia), L. recurvata sp. nov. (Panama), Panolidia torquersi sp. nov. (Colombia), P. minuta sp. nov. (Colombia), Sapingia calcaris sp. nov. (Colombia), Stalolidia flangella sp. nov. (Colombia), S. semiovata sp. nov. (Colombia), S. setacea sp. nov. (Colombia), S. ecuadorensis sp. nov. (Ecuador), S. lyrica sp. nov. (Bolivia), S. clava sp. nov. (Brazil) and S. bulbata sp. nov. (Peru). Taxonomy and distribution of genera, revised key to species and details on new records are provided. A revised key to all known genera is also included. Colombia is a new record for Baluba, Jalorpa, Panolidia, Sapingia and Stalolidia; Panama for Licontinia; Peru for Hastalidia and Ecuador for Stalolidia. The type-species name, Coelidia marginata Stål, for Harasupia Nielson, 1979 was incorrectly cited as Harasupia marginata (Stål) and is corrected herein.

ABSTRACT The northern Brazilian state of Mato Grosso is considered an important biogeographical region, but has many sampling gaps. Apart from the well-documented non volant mammal community in the region, the bat fauna still poorly recorded. The aim of this study was to record the bat species of Juruena National Park, northern Mato Grosso, Brazil. Nineteen sites were sampled using mist-nets placed at ground level and near potential bat roosts. We collected 115 individuals belonging to 35 species and five families, which increased the number of species known for Mato Grosso´s Amazon from 86 to 91. The five new records were: Peropteryx kappleri, Peropteryx leucoptera, Lonchorhina inusitata, Tonatia saurophila, and Artibeus concolor. Our results pointed out the necessity of more studies in order to better estimate the bat diversity in northern Mato Grosso.

The northern South American genus Haematotropis Jeekel, 2000 is shown to presently encompass 21 species, all duly redescribed, illustrated, keyed, and mapped, including 13 new species: H. amazonica sp. nov. (Amazonas, Brazil), H. aripuanensis sp. nov. (Mato Grosso, Brazil), H. callyi sp. nov. (French Guiana), H. dentata sp. nov. (Maranhão, Brazil), H. disjunctoides sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. goeldii sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. jurutiensis sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. driki sp. nov. (Amazonas, Brazil), H. melgacensis sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. mosaica sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. paraensis sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil), H. poranga sp. nov. (Pará, Brazil) and H. tysoni sp. nov. (Amazonas, Brazil). New characters are used in all descriptions and redescriptions. Aphelidesmus guianensis Chamberlin, 1923, the type species of Ochrotropis Jeekel, 2000, is a new junior synonym of Aphelidesmus divergens Chamberlin, 1918, comb. nov. ex Ochrotropis in Haematotropis.

We report on new occurrence records of Lophostoma brasiliense Peters, 1867 (Chiroptera, Phyllostomidae) from the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, southeastern Brazil. Specimens from São Paulo were mist-netted in an area originally covered by the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado ecosystems of which only small and isolated fragments remain, while the specimens from Mato Grosso do Sul came from a well-preserved Cerrado area. The new records confirm the presence of L. brasiliense in the Brazilian state of São Paulo and clarify the southern edge of the species’ range.

Thyestetha Pascoe, an apterous genus of Papuan Cryptorhynchinae is revised. It contains two previously describedspecies, T. carbonaria Faust and T. nitida Pascoe, plus seven new species: T. discolor sp. n., T. emarginata sp. n.,T. glabra sp. n., T. lubrica sp. n., T. oblita sp. n., T. puncticollis sp. n., and T. splendens sp. n.. Lectotypes are designatedfor T. carbonaria, T. nitida, and Pantoxistus rubripennis Chevrolat which is a junior synonym of T. nitida (syn. n.). Thegenus and its species are described and the characters relevant for their identification are illustrated. A key to the speciesis provided. Phylogenetic analyses are performed, utilizing molecular and morphological approaches. A maximumlikelihood tree including 5 Thyestetha species and 2 outgroups is presented, based on 3 mitochondrial and 4 nuclearmarkers. A maximum parsimony analysis of 19 morphological characters includes all described species. Thyestetha ispresumably closely related to Telaugia Pascoe and Elichora Pascoe. The group is restricted to New Guinea and some smaller neighboring islands.

A new species, Calvatia natarajanii, is presented as well as brief notes on the distribution of Calvatia sensu stricto and Langermannia in India. Calvatia natarajanii is distinguished by basidiomes having yellowish white to orange-white exoperidium, brownish orange to grayish red, persistent endoperidium, grayish orange to brownish orange cottony gleba, persistent cellular subgleba and globose to subglobose, echinulate basidiospores. It is described, illustrated and compared with the closely related taxa C. cyathiformis, C. fragilis, C. rugosa, C. aff. rugosa, C. pyriformis, C. vinosa and C. rosacea. Maximum Parsimony analysis based on ITS sequences confirmed that C. natarajanii is closely related to C. fragilis and distinct from other morphologically similar species. In addition, a key to the species of Calvatia and Langermannia recorded in India is presented. Four species recognized under Calvatia are excluded from the key since their transfer to Lycoperdon.
