The study intentions were to examine the correlation and impact of the style of leadership of the principals on job performance of the teachers of secondary school in private sector in Lahore district, Pakistan. It is correlational study in terms of research design. The data was collected from 106 principals and 543 teachers of secondary schools in private sector in Lahore district through adapted instrument. The first tool of the instrument “Principal Leadership Style Questioner (PLSQ) had cronbach alphas of 0.834 for autocratic leadership sub-scale, 0.764 for democratic leadership sub-scale and 0.861 for laissez-faire leadership sub-scale. The Second tool of the instrument “Teacher Job Performance Questioner” (TJPQ) had Cronbach alpha of 0.816. The research question and hypotheses were tested by using percentage, multiple regression, Pearson correlation at the level of p<0.05 significance. The statistics attesting 57.3% variation in teachers’ job performance was due to mutual contribution of principals’ autocratic leadership, democratic leadership and laissez-faire leadership styles. The most commonly employed principals’ leadership style was autocratic leadership in secondary school in private sector in the district. It had statistically significant and strong positive impact on teachers’ performance in the studied area. Whereas reciprocal impact in case of laissez-faire. The principal suggestion was that the school principals should be trained to learn the mixture usage of autocratic and democratic leadership styles wisely in diverse situations and work settings in secondary schools in private sector in the district Lahore, Pakistan.

The present study is an attempt to investigate the effect of leadership styles of administrative leaders on job performance behavior among staff of Najran University. To achieve the objective of the study, the sample was randomly selected of (117) administrative staff at Najran University. The descriptive approach was adopted in this study, in which the author designed 36-item questionnaire divided into two sections: the first one is leadership style (25) items distributed to three domains (autocratic leadership style, participative leadership style and bureaucratic leadership style), and the second section is job performance (11) items. The questionnaire was applied to the participants after verification of validity and reliability. The study revealed that participative style was high, autocratic style was moderate and bureaucratic style was low. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in autocratic style (a = 0.05) due to gender in favor of females, while there are statistically significant differences in participative style in favor of males, and no statistically significant differences due to scientific qualification. The results indicated that there are positive correlation between the participative style and job performance and negative correlation between the autocratic style and job performance. The author recommends adopting the participative leadership style in administration due to the positive effects it has on job performance, as well as conducting studies on the common leadership styles in other Saudi universities.

The study focused on the impact of autocratic leadership style on job performance of subordinates in academic libraries in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The research design was a survey. The respondents were the 74 professional and para-professional staff working in the libraries studied. Data collection was through questionnaire. instrument titled “Autocratic Leadership Style on Job Performance of Subordinates in Academic Libraries (ALSJPSAL)” consisting of five (5) item statements. Analysis was done using frequency and mean for the research question. Findings of the study revealed that autocratic leadership style tends to develop dependent and uncreative subordinates who are afraid to take up responsibility. Autocratic leadership style, however, shows a significant negative impact on employee performance. This style of leadership tended to have work groups that were less productive and subordinates showed a high degree of dissatisfaction on the job. Therefore, autocratic leaders tend to limit the performance of subordinates. It is recommended that autocratic leadership style may be very valuable in situations where decisions need to be made as quickly and decisively as possible. Since autocratic leadership style leads to job dissatisfaction of subordinates, library heads should be closely monitored by the parent institution to check their excesses.

This study, investigated the effect of school type (public and private) and leadership pattern of principal on teachers' job performance in Rivers State Nigeria. The design for the study was survey. The target population for this study comprises of all the Senior Secondary School Three (SS 3) students and their teachers in public and private Schools in Rivers State Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 370 'respondents (60 teachers and 310 students) and, stratified random sampling was used to select twelve (12) secondary schools. Data were collected using Students' Perception of Teachers' Job Performance Questionnaire (SPTJPQ) and Teachers' Perception of School Type and Principals' Leadership Style Questionnaire (TPSTPLSQ) with 0.74 and 0.92 reliability coefficients respectively using Cronbach Alpha statistic. Three research questions guided the study, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Regressions were the statistical tools used for data analysis with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20. This study showed relationships among and between variables in terms of their direction and strength. All the variables considered in this study have relationships with the criterion variable at varying strengths. While the school type (r = -.008 p>0,05), autocratic leadership style (r = -.112 p<0.05) and laissez faire leadership style (r = -.008 p>0.05) are negatively correlated; only the autocratic leadership style had significant relationship with the criterion. The study therefore, concluded that all the variables of the study are correlated at varying strength and different direction.

Academic librarians have various opinions on the importance of advanced-subject degrees in addition to a master’s in library science (MLS). The authors conducted an online survey to collect opinions from academic librarians on this topic. Arguments in favor of having advanced-subject degrees include development of research skills, credibility, and overall improved job performance. Arguments against it include the fact that the MLS is—and should continue to be—our terminal degree, inadequate salaries, and the validity of developing subject expertise via other means. The need for advanced-subject degrees may vary by many factors, including individual career goals and local institutional culture.

The main objective of this study was to determine the impact of leadership style (autocratic, democratic, and laissez-faire) on job performance from nurse’s points of view at Benghazi Medical Centre. Method. This study was a descriptive questionnaire-based study conducted on 100 nurses working at Benghazi Medical Centre, Libya. To analyze the data (mean, standard deviation, ANOVA test were used. Furthermore, multiple regressions and Pearson correlation were used to determine whether a relationship exists between the independent and dependent variables. Result. Of 100, only 60 questionnaires were completed, giving a response rate of 60%. The findings of this study indicated that democratic was the most dominantly used in the hospital, followed by the autocratic and laissez-faire leadership styles. Whereas, the laissez-faire leadership style had a strong positive and significant impact on performance (R2= .333; P < 0.01). Conclusion. Laissez-faire leadership style positively affected nurses’ performance. Future research that might be relevant to be further explored are worth.
