Santa Maria's city is located at the central region of Rio Grande of Sul. This work presents the referring information the areas of the city more aftected by risk events, it allowed the elaboration of a register of the risk situations. The studies of the dynamic of the system urban/environmental permited to fix the diagnostic causes of the geological/geomorphology processes. This register/diagnostic made possible identify the occurrence of processes of environmental risks, that are represented by mass moviments of stream of margins, landslide, and rockfall, besides the successive floods, associated, in general, with the areas of low income occupation.

Throughout the development of the sciences and in search of an answer to disturbing questions, professionals from different areas of knowledge, mainly health, sought and seek alternatives to assist in the treatment of different diseases and limitations, which affects individuals, causing irreversible biopsychosocial damage. In this view, and in order to assist in the treatment, Equine Therapy has been discovered as a therapeutic resource, a therapeutic and educational method that uses the horse from an interdisciplinary approach between the areas of health and education. Thus, this study aims to analyze the Riding Therapy Centers of Santa Maria, in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to evaluate the services according to the ANDE-BRASIL norms in the biopsychosocial development of people with intellectual needs. For this, a survey was carried out with questionnaires and observations in three Riding Therapy centers in the city of Santa Maria - RS, between May and June 2019, realizing that riding therapy develops the inclusion and improves the practitioner's biopsychosocial aspects in a mediating and complementary way. treatment proposed by conventional medicine, since this therapy offers a variety of stimuli: visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile and kinesthetic. It is concluded, therefore, that hippotherapy, not only benefits people with intellectual needs, but several pathologies, being difficult to focus its benefits only in one pathology, since, it benefits the global development, both of the patient, and of the team involved, bringing a improvement for patient, family and community involved.

Abstract During the cold season, episodes of a windstorm known as Vento Norte (VNOR) are frequently observed in the city of Santa Maria, situated in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul (RS). The onset of this windstorm is characterized by strong gusts with northerly component which are accompanied by a sharp increase in temperature and abrupt drying. A methodology based on the observed behavior of the standard deviation of temperature during VNOR was successful in identifying the onset and demise of the windstorm. Additionally, the research shows the results of different micrometeorological variables during the event. Early morning and evening atmospheric profiles exhibit an elevated mixed layer over central RS in association with the strong VNOR winds, indicating the presence of mechanically-forced mixing during nighttime hours.

In order to evaluate the distribution of dermatophytes in Porto Alegre, the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, they were isolated from the skin, hairs and nails samples and retrospectively analyzed from June 1981 to June 1995, in two different institutions in the city of Porto Alegre: (i) the Serviço de Micologia do Instituto de Pesquisas Biológicas Jandyr Maya Faillace, da Secretaria de Saúde e Meio Ambiente do Rio Grande do Sul which attends the low income population (low and middle classes) and, (ii) Laboratório Weinmann, a clinical pathology laboratory which attends predominantly the higher income population (middle and upper classes), both which attend in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre. The dermatophyte predominance of Trichophyton rubrum was confirmed (55.33%) followed by T. mentagrophytes (21.46%). The data obtained were compared with the existing prevalence data which were collected in the interior of the state over a period of 32 years (1960-1992). T. verrucosum, T. simii, Microsporum persicolor, T. schöenleinii, M. nanum and M. cookei were isolated in the interior and have not been found in the capital so far. On the other side, T. violaceum was, isolated in the capital and has not been found in the interior so far.

A Triassic taphoflora identified in the Central Region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, represents an important biostratigraphic stage in the paleofloristic succession of the Paraná Basin. This megafloristic association is composed of compressed leaves, fronds and seeds of a “Dicroidium Flora” and shows a predominance of the Dicroidium genus, with several species, and other important taxa like Neocalamites sp, Cladophlebis sp, Tetraptilon aff, heteromerum, Ginkgoites Antarctica, Sphenobaiera sp, Podozamites sp, Nilssonia sp, Pteruchus sp and Carpolithus sp. Taking into account the stratigraphical distribution of different species of the Dicroidium genus, a biostratigraphic framework was established. The biostratigraphical position of this Triassic flora was established by comparison with Triassic floras from Argentina, South Africa and Australasia. Considering that the recognition of this Dicroidium Flora was based on limited outcrops belonging to one lithostratiphic level (Santa Maria Formation – Passo das Tropas Facies), it was impossible to establish a formal biostratigraphic zonation. Instead, at present time, an informal floristic interval, named “Dicroidium odontopteroides Flora” is proposed (Late Anisian to Late Ladinian, Middle Triassic).

The open pollination cultivars (VPA) of maize are an alternative of production for a small property, because it presents a good agronomic performance and low production cost, mainly due to the possibility of seed production with low cost. The objective of this research was to evaluate the agronomic performance and economic viability of open pollination cultivars of maize in a low-altitude site in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The experiment was conducted during the 2018/2019 crop season, in the experimental area of the Federal University of Santa Maria-UFSM, in the municipality of Santa Maria-RS. The open pollination maize cultivars (SCS 154 Fortuna, SCS 155 Catarina, and SCS 156 Colorado) were used. The experiment consisted of three treatments and four replicates and the experimental design used was that of complete blocks at random. The open pollination cultivars presented an adequate agronomic performance in a low-altitude region in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, associated with the economic viability of the crop in the central region of the state.

Palavras-chave: Rede; Movimentos sociais; Redes sociais online; Ações de protesto; Facebook.ABSTRACT This article proposes to analyze, based on the theory of social movements, the mobilizations that obtained attention in June 2013 in Brazil. Based on the observation of protest activities in the city of Santa Maria, in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, it examines their development, evaluation and consequences in Facebook, as a means to gain an overall understanding of the role of online social networks within the logic of contemporary social movements. Interviews with protests participants were combined with online and offline strategic observations. The analysis indicates a discussion on how Facebook is used to construct  a plural agenda of demands, to reflect upon forms of action, articulate exchanges between opposites, to create a sense of belonging and a link between subjects with different opinions, as well as to build dynamic interaction and visibility for the protest activities. This particular situation requires reconsidering the theoretical field on social movements. Keywords: Networks; Social movements; Online social network; Protest activities; Facebook.
