Alternative non-pharmacological therapies have been the subject of several studies and have won the support of health professionals in the physical and also mental spheres, but few investigations have shown concern with listening to the participants, namely the practitioners submitted to these therapies. The present study, of an exploratory cross-sectional nature and qualitative approach with an epistemological framework linked to an interpretative phenomenological paradigm, aims to learn about the possible benefits of equine therapy related to the subjective well-being of wheelchair users. Nowadays, animal-assisted therapies are becoming more common in the rehabilitation field, one of the most outstanding is equine therapy or horse-assisted therapy, whose simple principles serve as an effective treatment for patients with infantile cerebral palsy conforming to various studies. Due to the conditions that are particularly necessary to maintain this type of therapy center, it tends to come at a high price, thus limiting its access to different patients. For this reason, a new alternative is presented that provides the same effects as equine therapy, designing an emulator so that this procedure is more affordable and can benefit a substantial number of people. For the outline of the prototype was realized an analysis of the equine gait to create a record and control of data, also a sketch of the electromechanical and monitoring system that will allow recreating the movements of the gait using the data collected. To corroborate the correct implementation of the therapy by checking the output variables, as well as protecting the physical integrity of the patients by verifying the limits and ranges allowed for the main blocks of the system. By comparing the operating principle on which the prototype proposal is based with the fundamentals of conventional therapy with animals, a new alternative could be composed for this procedure that would only require a study that proves its validity once developed.

Animal-assisted therapies are being widely acknowledged for improving the needs of children with various difficulties. One of the many animal-assisted therapies that are known to be beneficial includes equine therapy. The primary aim of this research was to study the improved language aspects of dyslexic children after undergoing five equine therapy interventions. The five equine therapy interventions include friendly introduction to horses, auditory comprehension, phonological awareness, sentence mastery and spelling ability. A randomised study was done by selecting 16 dyslexic children from Malaysia Dyslexia Association in carrying out equine therapy. Results from the study done proved that the dyslexic children chosen has demonstrated vast improvement in the following aspects of language, namely comprehension, phonological, sentence mastery and spelling. The general assumption of this study is that every equine therapy intervention has its own unique objective and outcome on dyslexic children. Further research is required in this domain to study the long-term effects of equine therapy in other areas of special need children.

Throughout the development of the sciences and in search of an answer to disturbing questions, professionals from different areas of knowledge, mainly health, sought and seek alternatives to assist in the treatment of different diseases and limitations, which affects individuals, causing irreversible biopsychosocial damage. In this view, and in order to assist in the treatment, Equine Therapy has been discovered as a therapeutic resource, a therapeutic and educational method that uses the horse from an interdisciplinary approach between the areas of health and education. Thus, this study aims to analyze the Riding Therapy Centers of Santa Maria, in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to evaluate the services according to the ANDE-BRASIL norms in the biopsychosocial development of people with intellectual needs. For this, a survey was carried out with questionnaires and observations in three Riding Therapy centers in the city of Santa Maria - RS, between May and June 2019, realizing that riding therapy develops the inclusion and improves the practitioner's biopsychosocial aspects in a mediating and complementary way. treatment proposed by conventional medicine, since this therapy offers a variety of stimuli: visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile and kinesthetic. It is concluded, therefore, that hippotherapy, not only benefits people with intellectual needs, but several pathologies, being difficult to focus its benefits only in one pathology, since, it benefits the global development, both of the patient, and of the team involved, bringing a improvement for patient, family and community involved.
