A novel electrochemical sensing platform was constructed based on a facile self-assembly procedure synthetic laminar molybdenum trioxide dihydrate (MoO[Formula: see text]H2O)-graphene composite. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy were employed to characterize the morphology and composition of the MoO[Formula: see text]H2O-graphene composite. As a model molecule, thiourea was utilized to investigate the electrochemical behaviors of the MoO[Formula: see text]H2O-graphene composite modified glass carbon electrode. The results show that the composite modified electrode has higher electron transfer rate than that of graphene modified electrode and bare glass carbon electrode meanwhile the peak currents of it has a good linear relationship with thiourea concentrations in the range of [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) with detection limit of 4.99[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]M ([Formula: see text]). This novel electrochemical sensor exhibits a higher absorption capacity ([Formula: see text][Formula: see text]mol/cm2), a good reproducibility (1.41% relative standard deviation (RSD)), excellent anti-interference and a high stability. These excellent electrochemical properties of the MoO[Formula: see text]H2O-graphene composite are attributed to the loose and porous structure and the synergistic effects between graphene and MoO[Formula: see text]H2O, which make this composite material hold great potential applications for electrochemical sensor.

To ensure food quality and safety, developing cost-effective, rapid and precision analytical techniques for quantitative detection of nitrite is highly desirable. Herein, a novel electrochemical sensor based on the sodium cellulose sulfate/poly (dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride) (NaCS/PDMDAAC) composite film modified glass carbon electrode (NaCS/PDMDAAC/GCE) was proposed toward the detection of nitrite at sub-micromolar level, aiming to make full use of the inherent properties of individual component (biocompatible, low cost, good electrical conductivity for PDMDAAC; non-toxic, abundant raw materials, good film forming ability for NaCS) and synergistic enhancement effect. The NaCS/PDMDAAC/GCE was fabricated by a simple drop-casting method. Electrochemical behaviors of nitrite at NaCS/PDMDAAC/GCE were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Under optimum conditions, the NaCS/PDMDAAC/GCE exhibits a wide linear response region of 4.0 × 10−8 mol·L−1~1.5 × 10−4 mol·L−1 and a low detection 1imit of 43 nmol·L−1. The NaCS/PDMDAAC shows a synergetic enhancement effect toward the oxidation of nitrite, and the sensing performance is much better than the previous reports. Moreover, the NaCS/PDMDAAC also shows good stability and reproducibility. The NaCS/PDMDAAC/GCE was successfully applied to the determination of nitrite in ham sausage with satisfactory results.

Tris(2,2’-bipyridyl)ruthenium (II) (Ru(bpy)3 2+) electrogerated chemiluminescence (ECL) sensor was fabricated by immobilization of Ru(bpy)3 2+) complex on the functionalized MWCNT-Nafion composite film coated on surface of glass carbon electrode. The functionalized MWCNT was prepared by coating of polythiophene (PTh), polyaniline (PANI), and poly(3-thiophene acetic acid) [P(3-TAA)] on the surface of the carboxylic acid-modified MWCNT. The sensitivity and reproducibility of the prepared ECL sensor to tripropylamine (TPA) was evaluated. As results, the carboxylic acid-modified MWNT composite electrode was high sensitivity and good reproducibility than that of other functionalized MWNT composite electrode.

Europium doped tantalum oxide (europium-Ta2O5) particles were synthesized with a low temperature hydrothermal method. The electrochemical behaviour of an europium-Ta2O5 film electrode in 0.1 mol dm-3KCl solution containing 5 mmol dm-3K3Fe(CN)6was investigated using cyclic voltgrammetry (CV). The CV results indicated that the europium-Ta2O5film electrode exhibited good stable and reversible electrochemistry properties. The electrochemical reaction of K3Fe(CN)6was a diffusion-controlling process on the europium-Ta2O5film electrode. The europium-Ta2O5particles might have potential applications in electrochemical fields.
