In the educational field, the system performance, as well as the stakeholders’ satisfaction, are considered a bottleneck in the e-learning system due to the high number of users who are represented in the educational system’s stakeholders including instructors and students. On the other hand, successful resource utilization in cloud systems is one of the key factors for increasing system performance which is strongly related to the ability for the optimal load distribution. In this study, a novel load-balancing algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm aims to optimize the educational system’s performance and, consequently, the users’ satisfaction in the educational field represented by the students. The proposed enhancement in the e-learning system has been evaluated by two methods, first, a simulation experiment for confirming the applicability of the proposed algorithm. Then a real-case experiment has been applied to the e-learning system at Helwan University. The results revealed the advantages of the proposed algorithm over other well-known load balancing algorithms. A questionnaire was also developed to measure the users’ satisfaction with the system’s performance. A total of 3,670 thousand out of 5,000 students have responded, and the results have revealed a satisfaction percentage of 95.4% in the e-learning field represented by the students.

This chapter aims to strengthen the integration of serious games in the educational field by providing tools to monitor and assist the progress of learners/players. The main idea is to address the integration aspects and the deployment of serious games in adaptive e-learning systems based on the automatic package and the export of serious games as reusable learning objects (LO). This integration will allow SGs to benefit from the tracking and support features offered by the LMS. On the other hand, LMS can supplement their training offer and reach a certain maturity. The approach aims to meet the specific needs of SGs in terms of metadata so that they can be described, indexed, and capitalized. This is a new application profile of the IEEE LOM standard entitled “SGLOM” integrating fields to describe SGs not only in a technical sense but also by examining the pedagogical and playful criteria. The authors also focus on the integration and extraction aspects of SGs in an LMS using the ADL SCORM 2004 data model that defines how content can be packaged as a SCORM PIF (package interchange file).

In April 2020, the MoEVT and the World Bank approached the EdTech Hub to explore the feasibility of implementing a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The parties agreed on three deliverables to support this work. 1. A practical and actionable report analysing key factors to be considered in deploying an e-learning platform in Zanzibar. 2. A report documenting the process of sourcing appropriate digital content, aligning this content with the curriculum and populating the e-learning system accordingly. 3. An implementation plan to guide the deployment of an e-learning system in Zanzibar. This presentation deck is the third deliverable.

In this work we propose a method for organizing multipath routing for SDN networks. It have two main parts. The fisrt one is a routing method based on modified wave algorithm for finding paths, and second one is load balancing method based on ECMP algorithm. Combination of these methods can optimize using of network resources and provide a more optimal load balancing of network. The basis of routing algorithm is the search and use partially-overlapping routes. The basis of load balancing algorithm is equal distribution network load between all found routes. A comparative analysis with an existing algorithms for routing and load balancing was conducted and the advantages of this development are presented.

A learning environment generates massive knowledge by means of the services provided in MOOCs. Such knowledge is produced via learning actor interactions. This result is a motivation for researchers to put forward solutions for big data usage, depending on learning analytics techniques as well as the big data techniques relating to the educational field. In this context, the present article unfolds a uniform model to facilitate the exploitation of the experiences produced by the interactions of the pedagogical actors. The aim of proposing the said model is to make a unified analysis of the massive data generated by learning actors. This model suggests making an initial pre-processing of the massive data produced in an e-learning system, and it’s subsequently intends to produce machine learning, defined by rules of measures of actors knowledge relevance. All the processing stages of this model will be introduced in an algorithm that results in the production of learning actor knowledge tree.

Due to the opportunities provided by the Internet, people are taking advantage of e-learning courses and during the last few years enormous research efforts have been dedicated to the development of e-learning systems. So far, many e-learning systems are proposed and used practically. However, in these systems the e-learningcompletion rate is low. One of the reasons is the low study desire and motivation. In our previous work, we implemented an e-learning system that is able to increase the learning efficiency by stimulating learners’ motivation. In this work, we designed and implemented new functionssuch as: interface changing function, new ranking function and learner’s learning situation checking function to improve the system performance.
