The design of a prototype chemical process absorption column was carried out to facilitate the sequestration of CO2 from flue gas emanating from an exhaust point of a power generating set. Factors such as ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure where factored into consideration before the fabrication of the absorption column. The rate of the absorbing liquid is 0.1056kg/min and contains 5% mole/mole carbon (iv) oxide. Also the energy and material balance of the entire sequestration process was verified as well as the equipment design for the process was carried out.

During coal combustion, sulphur in the coal is converted into sulphur dioxide (SO2).This sulphur dioxide (SO2) is responsible for the formation of acid rain which is one of the widespread forms of pollution all over the world that causes harmful effects to humans and environment. To minimize the adverse impacts of SO2, it must be removed from flue gas. For reduction of SO2, flue gas desulphurization (FGD) is most commonly used. The mathematical viewer is developed and simulated for a gas liquid absorption column to control the flow rate of H2O2.The model equation is developed by considering material balance around the column. The absorption rate is determined by using different concentration of sulphur dioxide with hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide, not only absorbs the SO2 but it also produce useful by-product in the form of sulphuric acid (H2SO4).

In the article the flow field in the twin-tangential annular flow gas distributor was simulated based on the standard k-ε turbulent model with FLUENT software according to various distance L between sleeve and column wall and differing numbers of baffles, after comprehensively analyzing, got the best technological parameters with misdistribution factor and pressure drop. Based on the analysis of the flow field discipline of the twin-tangential annular flow gas distributor and the two-line vane gas distributor, and the systematic comparison of the performance of these two kinds of gas distributors in the flue gas CO2 absorption column, the research will provide the important theoretical foundation for the choosing and designing of the distributor of the flue gas CO2 absorber.

The paper considers the possibility of obtaining nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) by gas-discharge treatment of aqueous suspensions of microcrystalline cellulose or filter paper. For processing, a direct current discharge was used at atmospheric pressure with a wa-ter cathode at a discharge current of 35 mA and a discharge voltage of 1500 V. It was found that the plasma-chemical treatment of cellulose-containing material in water without the use of other reagents leads to the release of NCC with relatively large parti-cle sizes and a small surface charge.
