Objectives This study investigated anthropometric changes of national law enforcement officers (LEOs) in 46 years, compared the differences between LEO data and civilian anthropometry, and identified the magnitude of differences in dimensions measured with gear versus semi-nude measurements. Background The best available 46-year-old anthropometric dataset of LEOs has largely become outdated due to demographic changes. Additionally, anthropometric data of female LEOs and LEO measurements with gear are lacking. Method Thirty-four traditional body dimensions and 15 with gear measurements of 756 male and 218 female LEOs were collected through a stratified national survey using a data collection trailer that traveled across the U.S. and the data were compared to the LEO anthropometric data from 1975 and existing civilian anthropometric databases. Results LEO body size and shape have evolved over the past 46 years - an increase of 12.2 kg in body weight, 90 mm in chest circumference, and 120 mm in waist circumference for men. No previous data was available for comparison for females. Compared to civilians, both male and female LEOs have a larger upper body build. LEO gear added 91 mm in waist breadth for men and 120 mm for women, and 11 kg in weight for men and 9 kg for women. Conclusion The study reveals that equipment design based on the existing civilian datasets or 46-year-old LEO dataset would not accommodate the current LEO population. The new data fill this gap. Application: The differences reported above are important for LEO body gear, vehicle console, and vehicle ingress/egress design.

Shipbuilding is an increasingly competitive field. As the key players in this activity, shipyard managers have to make their counterparts in related industries aware of two conflicting needs. On the one hand, they must produce high quality components that are technologically advanced. On the other, they need equipment that lets them build vessels at a reasonable price. With this second aim in mind, it would be useful to standardise both design and manufacturing processes. At the same time, ship owners always impose regulations. The manufacturers of deck equipment must therefore adapt their product designs to comply with these regulations, some of which have aspects in common. However, guidelines also differ on many points. This makes it difficult to reach desirable levels of standardisation in equipment design. The situation can be summed up in a phrase: for each vessel, a specific design. This article will first provide a comparative overview of current legislation. A proposal for anchor windlass design is then presented in an attempt to make the various regulations more cohesive. The objective here is to reach an acceptable degree of standardisation and, consequently, lower costs by applying economies of scale.

This study aims to analyze the impacts of the lack of ergonomic view in the projects of equipment design on workers’ health from the maintenance sector, in the mining industry context. To understand the operators’ health, maintenance activities of three types of equipment were analyzed: pump, crusher and sieve. The methodological strategy of Ergonomic Analysis of the Workplace (EWA) was used. Thus, changes in these activities are required, since some postures adopted for their performance were considered severe and with high risk. Bearing weight above the shoulders and uncomfortable positions are conditions resulted from failures in the equipment designs. To alleviate the problem, it is suggested the adoption of innovative tools or the creation of new supportive devices to improve working conditions of these maintenance professionals.

Development of a proactive life cycle information management and support system for thermal power equipment can reduce costs and risk of equipment operation. Developing this system at the stage of equipment design is crucial for selecting correct technical and engineering solutions for further efficiency and resilience. Business process re-engineering in design and a CAD library of models for a variety of thermal power equipment are major parts of the suggested approach.

Kata Kunci : madrasah; pemasaran; pembelajaran; pembukuan Simple Bookkeeping System Training, as well as the Development of Effective Marketing and Learning Methods at MDTA Nurhafa BandungABSTRACTThis service activity aims to help solve some of the problems faced by Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) "NURHAFA" Bandung. Some of the problems faced are related to the bookkeeping system, marketing methods and learning. The implementation method used in solving these problems begins with the stages of tracing problems and needs, designing solutions and implementing them. Troubleshooting was carried out through survey and interview methods at the madrasah location. Next, the team determined the solutions and things needed by MDTA Nurhafa. At the implementation stage, the team decided to donate equipment, design accounting systems, marketing techniques and effective learning methods according to MDTA Nurhafa's needs. This activity is expected to assist madrasah in improving the bookkeeping system, expanding marketing networks and improving learning methods in order to achieve madrasah goals. Keywords: madrasah; marketing; learning; bookkeeping
