Application of the poly-ɛ-caprolactone composite sorbent consisting of the micro- and nanometer fibers for the on-line extraction of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs from a biological matrix has been introduced. A 100 μL human serum sample spiked with ketoprofen, naproxen, sodium diclofenac, and indomethacin was directly injected in the extraction cartridge filled with the poly-ɛ-caprolactone composite sorbent. This cartridge was coupled with a chromatographic instrument via a six-port switching valve allowing the analyte extraction and separation within a single analytical run. The 1.5 min long extraction step isolated the analytes from the proteinaceous matrix was followed by their 13 min HPLC separation using Ascentis Express RP-Amide (100 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm) column. The recovery of all analytes from human serum tested at three concentration levels ranged from 70.1% to 118.7%. The matrix calibrations were carried out in the range 50 to 20,000 ng mL−1 with correlation coefficients exceeding 0.996. The detection limit was 15 ng mL−1, and the limit of quantification corresponded to 50 ng mL−1. The developed method was validated and successfully applied for the sodium diclofenac determination in real patient serum. Our study confirmed the ability of the poly-ɛ-caprolactone composite sorbent to remove the proteins from the biological matrix, thus serving as an alternative to the application of restricted-access media.

Представлен оригинальный метод получения композиционных сорбционных материалов на основе смешанных ферроцианидов Ni-K и Zn-K в композиции с силоксан-акрилатной эмульсией и полиэтиленом. Оригинальность метода заключается в гидрофобизации материала за счет введения полиэтиленовых волокон в структуру ферроцианидов. Изучены особенности извлечения микро- и микроконцентраций катионов Cs + , а также радионуклидов Cs-137 из морской воды в статических и динамических условиях. Экспериментальные значения сорбции аппроксимируются согласно уравнениям Фрейндлиха, Ленгмюра, Ленгмюра-Фрейндлиха, а значения максимальной сорбции G max и константы адсорбционного равновесия K lрассчитаны. Установлено, что сорбенты, синтезированные с использованием полиэтилена, при степени очистки морской воды от ионов цезия до 99% обладают наилучшими сорбционными характеристиками. Значения K p для цезия при использовании исследуемых сорбентов могут достигать 10 5 мл / г, что свидетельствует об их перспективности для очистки морской воды от радиоактивного цезия. Описанный подход является примером простого и доступного технологического синтеза эффективных и востребованных на практике сорбентов высокого эксплуатационного качества.

The evaluation of groundwater quality in the Dammam formation, Faddak farm, Karbala Governorate, Iraq proved that the sulfate (SO42−) concentrations have high values; so, this water is not suitable for livestock, poultry and irrigation purposes. For reclamation of this water, manufacturing of new sorbent for permeable reactive barrier was required through precipitation of Mg and Fe hydroxides nanoparticles on the activated carbon (AC) surface with best Mg/Fe molar ratio of 7.5/2.5. Mixture of 50% coated AC and 50% scrap iron was applied to eliminate SO42− from contaminated water with efficiency of 59% and maximum capacity of adsorption equals to 9.5 mg/g for a time period of 1 h, sorbent dosage 40 g/L, and initial pH = 5 at 50 mg/L initial SO42− concentration and 200 rpm shaking speed. Characterization analyses certified that the plantation of Mg and Fe nanoparticles onto AC was achieved. Continuous tests showed that the longevity of composite sorbent is increased with thicker bed and lower influent concentration and flow rate. Computer solution (COMSOL) software was well simulated for continuous measurements. The reclamation of real contaminated groundwater was achieved in column set-up with efficiency of 70% when flow rate was 5 mL/min, bed depth was 50 cm and inlet SO42− concentration was 2301 mg/L.
