A memristor is a vital circuit element that can mimic biological synapses. This paper proposes the memristive version of a recently proposed map neuron model based on the phase space. The dynamic of the memristive map model is investigated by using bifurcation and Lyapunov exponents’ diagrams. The results prove that the memristive map can present different behaviors such as spiking, periodic bursting, and chaotic bursting. Then, a ring network is constructed by hybrid electrical and chemical synapses, and the memristive neuron models are used to describe the nodes. The collective behavior of the network is studied. It is observed that chemical coupling plays a crucial role in synchronization. Different kinds of synchronization, such as imperfect synchronization, complete synchronization, solitary state, two-cluster synchronization, chimera, and nonstationary chimera, are identified by varying the coupling strengths.

This was a project under the Thrust 2 “Subsystem Integration and Silicon Nanophotonics” of the NSF-funded Center. The goal of this research was to design, fabricate and test microchip-scale silicon photonic components for optical WDM (wavelength division multiplexed) add/drop functionality in access and data networks. This chip was intended for use in a campus ring network.

Abstract This paper proposes an Ethernet transmission method based on modified format, which is applied to the distribution domain protection system. By tagging Ethernet data new identifications, the data has unique identity information in transmission. The switch replicates data and transmit it in two directions. When the ring network is destroyed, there is no data loss caused by switching the transmission direction. The distribution domain protection system realizes ring network with seamless redundancy.

Aiming at the problems of low power supply reliability, poor transfer capacity between stations, and low line utilization in the current distribution network, this paper proposes a diamond-shaped distribution network structure with a clear structure. First, we investigated the typical wiring patterns of medium-voltage distribution networks in Tokyo, Japan, Paris, France, and China’s developed cities, and summarized experience and shortcomings. Secondly, combining the typical wiring patterns of distribution networks in China and abroad, construct a diamond-shaped distribution network structure, and study its adaptability, safety and flexibility, power supply reliability, and economy. Finally, take the transformation of the wiring mode of a regional distribution network in a certain city as an example, compare the use of the diamond-shaped distribution network structure in this article with the use of cable double-ring network wiring, cable “double petal” wiring, and Shanghai diamond-type wiring distribution network grid reconstruction The effect verifies the superiority of the diamond-shaped distribution network structure in this paper.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to design a ring network topology system and alter it into a series–parallel type framework. Then, reliability of the framework is analysed and authors also discussed the signature to analyse the most sensitive component.Design/methodology/approachThis study presents a ring-shaped network system where this type of topology forms a single continuous pathway for signals through every node. In this study, a system consists of ring network topology is generalized in the series–parallel mixed configuration and reliability characteristics are evaluated with the assistance of universal generating function (UGF) technique. The system consists of wires, repeaters, components or computers and power supply. The wires and repeaters are in series, so, if they fail the whole system will fail and the signals will not go further. The components or computers are connected to each other in parallel configuration. So, the whole system will not fail until the last computer is working. There is also a two-unit power supply system which has one unit in a standby mode. On the failure of first power supply, the second one will start functioning and the whole system fails on the failure of both power supply.FindingsBy the assistance of UGF technique, reliability function of the framework is evaluated. Also, Barlow–Proschan index and expected lifetime for the designed system is estimated by considering a numerical example for the general ring-shaped network system.Originality/valueUGF technique is very effective for estimating the reliability of a system with complex structure and having two performance rates, i.e. completely failed and perfectly working, or more than two, i.e. multi-state performance. This technique enables to estimate every components contribution in the working and failure of the whole system. A general model of ring-shaped network system is taken and generalized algorithm is drawn for the system. Then a particular numerical example is solved for illustrating the use of this technique.

Aiming at the problems of low precision, slow data transmission speed and long response time of silk quality and temperature control in tobacco intelligent production line, a multi-index testing system is designed. According to the characteristics of PROFIBUS fieldbus technology, combined with PROFIBUS transmission technology, a factory level information network is formed with PROFIBUS-DP as the exchange mode. Based on the PROFIBUS technology, the dual redundancy structure of control ring network and management information ring network is adopted, and the whole network architecture is constructed by logic layering. From the point of view of building enterprise MES system, it locates real-time production monitoring, production task receiving and production line related data collection, integrates equipment control layer, centralized monitoring layer and production management layer, and designs system function structure. The functional structure of the system, and the establishment of a number of data tables, to achieve a tobacco intelligent production line silk quality detection system design. Experimental results show that this method can effectively speed up the data transmission speed and shorten the system response time.
