In our study we analyse the vibration of a right cylinder which consists of an elastic material with dipolar structure and has pores. One end of this cylinder is subjected to an excitation, harmonically in time. The other end of the cylinder and its lateral surface are free of loads. We prove that the presence of the voids does not affect the spatial decay of effects away from the excited end, if the harmonic excitation level is below a predetermined threshold.

AbstractWe consider the mixed problem with boundary and initial data in thermoelasticity of porous bodies with dipolar structure. By generalizing some known results developed by Dafermos in a more simple case of the classical theory of elasticity, we prove new theorems in which we address the issues regarding the uniqueness and existence of a solution with finite energy of the respective problem after we define this type of solution.

Abstract In our study we formulated the mixed initial boundary value problem corresponding to the thermoelasticity of type III for bodies with dipolar structure. In main section we approached four qualitative results regarding the solutions for this problem. In two of these (in the first two theorems) we obtained two results of uniqueness, proved in different ways. Also, we proven two results which show that the solutions of the considered problem depend continuously with respect to the supply terms. We use different procedures in the two theorems on continuous dependence, but we essentially rely on the auxiliary results from Section 3 and Gronwall-type inequalities. It is important to emphasize that all results are obtained by imposing on the basic equations and basic conditions, average constraints that are common in the mechanics of continuous solids.

ABSTRACT Only three magnetic δ Scuti stars are known as of today. HD 41641 is a δ Scuti star showing chemical peculiarities and rotational modulation of its light curve, making it a good magnetic candidate. We acquired spectropolarimetric observations of this star with NARVAL at Télescope Bernard Lyot (TBL) to search for the presence of a magnetic field and characterize it. We indeed clearly detect a magnetic field in HD 41641, making it the fourth known magnetic δ Scuti star. Our analysis shows that the field is of fossil origin, like magnetic OBA stars, but with a complex field structure rather than the much more usual dipolar structure.

Articulated structures of naphthalene-based donor (D)-acceptor (A) type dipolar dye and aggregation-induced emission luminogen (AIEgen) based on tetraphenylethylene (TPE) were synthesized, and their photophysical properties were analyzed for the first time. There are many fluorophore backbones, which have dipolar structure and AIEgen. However, there has been neither property analysis nor research that closely articulates DA and AIE through non-conjugation linker. We have therefore prepared two representative fluorophores; DA-AIE series (DA-AIE-M and DA-AIE-D), and characterized their UV/vis absorption and emission properties with quantum chemical calculations. In addition, we utilized the unique photophysical properties of DA-AIE-D for monitoring a trace of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) in aqueous media, including real water samples.

The main concern of this study is an extension of some results, proposed by Green and Lindsay in the classical theory of elasticity, in order to cover the theory of thermoelasticity for dipolar bodies. For dynamical mixed problem we prove a reciprocal theorem, in the general case of an anisotropic thermoelastic body. Furthermore, in this general context we have proven a result regarding the uniqueness of the solution of the mixed problem in the dynamical case. We must emphasize that these fundamental results are obtained under conditions that are not very restrictive.

In this paper, we consider the mixed initial boundary value problem in the context of a thermoelastic porous body having a dipolar structure. We intend to analyze the rate of decay of solutions to this problem to ensure that in a finite time, they become null. In our main result, we find that the combined contribution of the dipolar constitution of the body together with voids dissipation and thermal behavior cannot cause vanishing of the deformations in a finite time.
