Photography of the World of Russian Rock in Modern Reflection

The article analyzes photographs of the world of underground music in the 1970s and 1980s. The author analyzes the images of musicians and notes their influence on the image of the heroes of Russian rock in modern cinema. Photography is considered as one of the main tools for the formation of the myth of Russian rock. Its actualization in the modern visual space in the form of exhibition projects and album editions is interpreted by taking into account the ideas of memorial culture. As a result of the research, the author reveals the adoption of the counterculture in the “big” history of the USSR and its inclusion in the nostalgic discourse about the Soviet past.

Children’s books on grown-up themes. On J. Boyne’s novels The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Boy at the Top of the Mountain

The essay is concerned with the work of the Irish writer John Boyne, who received international renown upon publication of his two young adult novels: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Boy at the Top of the Mountain. The two books are connected by the same topic — a child and the war — as well as an unconventional view of the fate of the small protagonist who becomes entangled in the big history. Among the characters of Boyne’s novels are children of high-ranking Nazis, prisoners of concentration camps, people inhabiting pre-war Europe, and even the Führer (Hitler) himself. The essay not only comments on the plots of the two novels, which follow the lives of Boyne’s young protagonists, but also suggests that everyone, including children, is responsible for their moral choice: whereas Bruno, the hero of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, remains pure in heart, his counterpart Peter (Pierrot) from The Boy at the Top of the Mountain becomes infected with Nazi ideology. In addition, the essay discusses certain facts of the writer’s biography, mentioning, in particular, that he turned to young adult fiction after a successful career in ‘grown-up’ literature.

El desarrollo de Aras de los Olmos: un análisis de caso en el marco de la economía del conocimiento y la innovación social / / / \ \ \ The development of Aras de los Olmos: a case analysis in the framework of the knowledge economy and social innovation

Resumen: En este artículo realizamos un análisis del Proyecto Big History, una acción enfocada al desarrollo sostenible e impulsado desde la localidad de Aras de los Olmos, València (España), a partir de una perspectiva teórica basada en la economía del conocimiento y la innovación social. La evaluación sintética de los logros y del rendimiento alcanzado por la implementación del proyecto nos permite conocer y poner en valor los elementos claves que han favorecido el crecimiento y desarrollo del territorio. La metodología aplicada en la presente investigación es un Análisis de Políticas Públicas resultado de la implementación de la Investigación Acción Participada y la Ecología de Saberes en el marco teórico del neoinstitucionalismo de la gobernanza democrática. Los principales resultados nos permiten constatar que la creatividad, la co-creación de conocimiento, la participación y el pacto de gobierno han sido elementos clave para el éxito del mismo y su repercusión en el desarrollo de toda la Comarca de la Serranía en la Comunitat Valenciana y sus comarcas limítrofes. Abstract: This article contains an analysis of the Big History Project, an action focused on sustainable development and promoted from the village of Aras de los Olmos, Valencia (Spain), from a theoretical perspective based on the knowledge economy and social innovation. The synthetic evaluation of the results and performance achieved by the implementation of the project allows us to know and value the key elements that have favored the growth and development of the territory. The methodology applied in this research is a Public Policy Analysis resulting from the implementation of the Participatory Action Research and the Ecology of Knowledge in the theoretical framework of the neoinstitutionalism of democratic governance. The main results allow us to confirm that creativity, co-creation of knowledge, participation and the governance pact have been key elements for the success of the project and its impact on the development of the whole Serranía region in the Valencian Community and its neighboring regions. Learning How to Manage a Planet

We live at a turning point in the history of planet earth, and we need to understand what is going on. Suddenly, we humans are becoming so powerful that what we do in the next few decades will shape the future of our planet. Unfortunately, most modern education is too narrow to help us see how our relationship with the planet is changing. To see that, and to understand the huge challenges we face, we need to understand the history of planet earth and how human history fits into the planet’s history. This is the story that is told in what are called big history courses. The task for the next generation is nothing less than to learn to manage an entire planet, and to manage it well for the sake of future generations. We have the resources we need, if only we can see the challenge clearly enough and agree on what needs to be done.

Para una genealogía del oficio de “figurinista” en Portugal. Una lucha de género en curso.

Analizar el cine y citar solamente el trabajo de dirección resulta ser la metodología elegida en más ocasiones por los investigadores y científicos de Film studies. Este método de análisis, de hecho, está tan aceptado en la academia que hasta se despliega con absoluta normalidad por la mayoría de los artistas hombres que trabajan o han trabajado en el cine (Chaplin, Rossellini, Fellini, Hitchcock, Godard, Truffaut, De Oliveira, entre algunos ejemplos). La “Big history” del cine, tal como se aprende, se construyó a partir de la mirada de los grandes directores. Estos han construido un discurso en el que se hacen responsables absolutos de la creación, la materialización y la ordenación de las imágenes en movimiento que constituyeron las grandes obras del séptimo arte que conocemos y analizamos. Sin embargo, existe toda una serie de artesanías y artes que, a pesar de sufrir un absoluto olvido, cuentan con una abrumadora mayoría de trabajadoras y artistas. Por ejemplo, en los principios del cine, el trabajo de las montadoras quedó relegado a la simple técnica de corta y pega y, en 2020 (Schultz en Cordero-Hoyo et al.) ya estábamos seguros de que el departamento cinematográfico que en España y Portugal tiene el mayor número de mujeres, es el de diseño de vestuario (figurinos o guarda-ropa). En particular, en Portugal este arte se reduce a una mera función técnica con consecuencias salariales y de descrédito también reflejado en su terminología técnica. A través de algunos study-cases abarcados durante el proyecto posdoctoral (en curso), financiado por FCT, centraremos nuestra atención en cuestiones de género que en sus historias, las diseñadoras de vestuario, las jefas de guarda-ropa y las costureras del cine portugués, abordaran en entrevistas realizadas en 2017 y analizadas a través de la metodología de la historia oral.
