In modular structures, prefabricated modular units are joined at the construction site. Modular structures must ensure splicing performance by connecting modular units sufficiently. The bolted connection using steel plates may suffer from alignment issues and corrosion problems. In a precast concrete (PC) modular system, there is difficulty grouting the sleeves when splicing reinforcing bars. This study proposed a PC modular beam using a bolted connecting plate to deal with issues in typical steel modules and PC modules. The structural performance was evaluated by flexural and shear tests on two monolithic beams and two proposed PC specimens. The test results showed that the structural performance of the PC modular specimen was 88% of that of the monolithic reinforced concrete (RC) beam specimen and 102% of the strength calculated by ACI 318-19. Therefore, the proposed PC modular system using bolted connecting plates can solve the problems observed in typical steel and PC modules and improve the structural performance.

Abstract MRT is one of the backbones of a city’s public transportation system, capable of carrying large crowds. The use of a portal frame in the design of an MRT train station has raised significant concerns about how the portal frame’s load will be supported by the extended structure element known as a corbel. A corbel is a protruding structural element that supports weights like primary beams and girders. Engineers must then decide how to properly bolt the steel corbel structure to the concrete pier segment or columns. Generally, most corbel structure designs were constructed of concrete; however, in this study corbel design was made of steel so that the steel portal frame could rest on the corbel structure, allowing for more usable area on the platform, such as kiosks and other amenities. Optimization of end plate thickness and beam web thickness is carried out. Manual calculations are used in addition to FEA modeling to examine the bolt’s deflection, shear, bearing, tension, slip, and block tearing resistance. When using Eurocode, all three loadings, transverse force, vertical force, and transverse moment, produce values that are 10% lower than the British Standard. As a result, designers can optimize their designs using Eurocode.

Abstract This paper focuses on the shear resistance of the bolted connection between steel plate and bamboo curtain plywood. From the fifteen groups of specimens, the performance grade, bolt diameter and end distance of bolts have an influence on the ultimate bearing capacity of joints and the yield load of joints and the yield load is 65%∼75% of the ultimate load. The initial stiffness of the node increases with the bolt diameter increasing. Provide certain materials and theoretical references for bamboo in the future design and research.

The structural element in the form of bolted connection (BC) of plates from polymeric composite materials (PCM) is not supported in modern computer CAD systems in a convenient form for the express analysis. Therefore, research aimed at creating appropriate tools in the form of additional programs is relevant. The application BJE (Bolted Joint Emulations) is presented at the paper. It was created by the authors on the basis of available results of simulation calculations of BC of plates made of layered PCM. Selection of corresponding analytical solutions, the revealed functional dependences, approximations were used. The feature of this development is taking into account influence of the main technological factors: tightening force, side gaps, stuck of layers in the PCM, others.
