Abstract The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory ( LHAASO ) ( Fig. 1 ) is located at Mt. Haizi (4410 m a.s.l., 600 g/cm2, 29◦ 21’ 27.56” N, 100◦ 08’ 19.66” E) in Daocheng, Sichuan province, P.R. China. LHAASO consists of 1.3 km2 array ( KM2A ) of electromagnetic particle detectors ( ED ) and muon detectors ( MD ), a water Cherenkov detector array ( WCDA ) with a total active area of 78,000 m2, 18 wide field-of-view air Cherenkov telescopes (WFCTA ) and a newly proposed electron-neutron detector array ( ENDA ) covering 10,000 m2. Each detector is synchronized with all the other through a clock synchronization network based on the White Rabbit protocol. The observatory includes an IT center which comprises the data acquisition system and trigger system, the data analysis facility. In the following of this Chapter, all the above mentioned components of LHAASO will be briefly described, together with infrastructure which is a fundamental component of the LHAASO observatory.

AbstractTreatments that require the introduction of external gas into the non-invasive ventilation (NIV) circuit, such as aerosol and oxygen therapy, may influence the performance of the ventilator trigger system. The aim of the study was to determine the presence and type of asynchronies induced by external gas in the NIV circuit in a bench model and in a group of patients undergoing chronic NIV. Bench study: Four ventilators (one with two different trigger design types) and three gas sources (continuous flow at 4 and 9 l/min and pulsatile flow at 9 l/min) were selected in an active simulator model. The sensitivity of the trigger, the gas introduction position, the ventilatory pattern and the level of effort were also modified. The same ventilators and gas conditions were used in patients undergoing chronic NIV. Bench: the introduction of external gas caused asynchronies in 35.9% of cases (autotriggering 73%, ineffective effort 27%). Significant differences (p < 0.01) were detected according to the ventilator model and the gas source. In seven patients, the introduction of external gas induced asynchrony in 20.4% of situations (77% autotriggering). As in the bench study, there were differences in the occurrence of asynchronies depending on the ventilator model and gas source used. The introduction of external gas produces alterations in the ventilator trigger. These alterations are variable, and depend on the ventilator design and gas source. This phenomenon makes it advisable to monitor the patient at the start of treatment.

Abstract The Baikal-GVD is a neutrino telescope situated in the deepest freshwater lake in the world — Lake Baikal. The design of the Baikal-GVD trigger system allows also to study the ambient light of the lake. The analysis of the optical light activity of Baikal water, particularly, time and spatial variations of the luminescence activity for data collected in years 2018, 2019, and 2020 is presented. For the first time we observed highly luminescent layer moving upwards with maximal speed of 28 m/day in January 2021.

Abstract Aim NICE CG50 guidelines are a response to evidence suggesting patients who are, or become, acutely unwell may receive suboptimal care. The guidelines suggest: After previously unsuccessful audits a fourth re-audit was designed to re-assess compliance with the CG 50 guidelines. Method After implementing previous recommendations like, keeping a poster of recommendations in the handover room and making these guidelines as part of surgical induction, a re-audit was planned. A prospective random sample of 40 patients admitted during the general surgery was taken. Using the audit tool the following parameters were recorded for each patient in the sample: Results The compliance was 100% for patients who have had their physiological observations recorded at the time of admission or initial assessment, the percentage of patients monitored using a physiological track and trigger system, and the percentage whose physiological observations were monitored at least every 12 hours. The compliance was 95% for the percentage of patients with a clear written monitoring plan. Conclusions Following the interventions detailed above, there is now 95 to 100% compliance with NICE guidelines in the documentation.

Most modern relational database systems use triggers to implement automatic tasks in response to specific events happening inside or outside a system. A database trigger is a human readable block code without any formal semantics. Frequently, people can check if a trigger is designed correctly after it is executed or by manual checking. In this article, the authors introduce a new method to model and verify database trigger systems using Event-B formal method at design phase. First, the authors make use of similar mechanism between triggers and Event-B events to propose a set of rules translating a database trigger system into Event-B constructs. Then, the authors show how to verify data constraint preservation properties and detect infinite loops of trigger execution with RODIN/Event-B. The authors also illustrate the proposed method with a case study. Finally, a tool named Trigger2B which partly supports the automatic modeling process is presented.
