When a heavy object is cooperatively grasped to move by several fingers of the robot hybrid hand, the inertial properties and the mass distribution of the object must influence largely on the operation precision, grasping stability, and the safety of both the hybrid hand and the object. Hence, it is an important and significant issue to establish and analyze the dynamics model of the moving-object cooperatively grasped by the hybrid hand in order to ensure the safety and grasping stability of the hybrid hand and the object. However, this research has not been conducted. In this paper, a dynamics model of the moving-object grasped by the hybrid hand is established, and its dynamics is studied and analyzed. First, a three-dimensional model of a hybrid hand formed by a novel parallel manipulator and three fingers is designed for cooperatively grasping object. Second, the kinematic formulas for solving the Jacobian matrices, the Hessian matrices, the general velocity/acceleration of the moving platform, and four active limbs of the parallel manipulator are derived. Third, the composite Jacobian matrix and the composite Hessian matrix of the hybrid hand are derived, and the general velocity/acceleration of the moving-object grasped by the hybrid hand is derived. Fourth, dynamics model of the hybrid hand is established, the formulas for solving the dynamic actuation forces of the three fingers and the dynamic actuation forces/torque and constrained forces of the parallel manipulator are derived. Finally, the theoretical solutions of the dynamics model of the moving-object grasped by the hybrid hand are verified by its simulation mechanism.

Compliant mechanisms are widely used for instrumentation and measuring devices for their precision and high bandwidth. In this paper, the mechatronic model of a compliant 3PRS parallel manipulator is developed, integrating the inverse and direct kinematics, the inverse dynamic problem of the manipulator and the dynamics of the actuators and the control. The kinematic problem is solved, assuming a pseudo-rigid model for the deflection in the compliant revolute and spherical joints. The inverse dynamic problem is solved, using the Principle of Energy Equivalence. The mechatronic model allows the prediction of the bandwidth of the manipulator motion in the 3 degrees of freedom for a given control and set of actuators, helping in the design of the optimum solution. A prototype is built and validated, comparing experimental signals with the ones from the model.

Abstract In 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) parallel manipulator, trajectory tracking is one of the main challenges. To obtain the desired trajectory, the DC motor needs to generate optimal torque. So to obtain optimal torque, an optimized Linear Quadratic Regulator-Proportional–Integral–Derivative (LQR-PID) controller is presented in this paper. For optimizing the Q, R and gain parameters of LQR-PID controller, Squirrel Search Algorithm (SSA) is presented. In this algorithm, minimal cost function of LQR-PID controller is considered as objective function. The SSA based LQR-PID controller leads the motor to generate optimal torque that helps to attain the desired trajectory of 6-DOF parallel manipulator. Results of the work depicts that the SSA based LQR-PID controller achieves the best mean velocity, sum square error (SSE), integral square error (ISE) and integral absolute error (IAE).

Inspired by dual-arm-like manipulation, a novel 6-DOF parallel manipulator with two spherical-universal-revolute limbs is proposed. Compared with general 6-DOF parallel manipulators with six limbs, this new manipulator actuated by spherical motion generators has only two limbs, which brings advantages such as fewer active limbs for avoiding interference, larger reachable and orientational workspace for complex operating, more actuators integrated in active modules for decreasing installation errors and increasing compactness. In this paper, the kinematics of this novel parallel manipulator is solved and illustrated, covering its inverse and forward position analysis, workspace and singularities. The kinematic study reveals interesting features of this manipulator such as multiple working and assembly modes, small footprint and large workspace volume with high dexterity. Numerical examples of kinematic analysis are included. Practical application of the new manipulator is illustrated.
