AbstractIn this paper, we consider a notion of nonmeasurablity with respect to Marczewski and Marczewski-like tree ideals $s_0$ , $m_0$ , $l_0$ , $cl_0$ , $h_0,$ and $ch_0$ . We show that there exists a subset of the Baire space $\omega ^\omega ,$ which is s-, l-, and m-nonmeasurable that forms a dominating m.e.d. family. We investigate a notion of ${\mathbb {T}}$ -Bernstein sets—sets which intersect but do not contain any body of any tree from a given family of trees ${\mathbb {T}}$ . We also obtain a result on ${\mathcal {I}}$ -Luzin sets, namely, we prove that if ${\mathfrak {c}}$ is a regular cardinal, then the algebraic sum (considered on the real line ${\mathbb {R}}$ ) of a generalized Luzin set and a generalized Sierpiński set belongs to $s_0, m_0$ , $l_0,$ and $cl_0$ .

Assuming the existence of a proper class of supercompact cardinals, we force a generic extension in which, for every regular cardinal [Formula: see text], there are [Formula: see text]-Aronszajn trees, and all such trees are special.

AbstractWe show that for any uncountable cardinal λ, the category of sets of cardinality at least λ and monomorphisms between them cannot appear as the category of points of a topos, in particular is not the category of models of a ${L_{\infty ,\omega }}$-theory. More generally we show that for any regular cardinal $\kappa < \lambda$ it is neither the category of κ-points of a κ-topos, in particular, nor the category of models of a ${L_{\infty ,\kappa }}$-theory.The proof relies on the construction of a categorified version of the Scott topology, which constitute a left adjoint to the functor sending any topos to its category of points and the computation of this left adjoint evaluated on the category of sets of cardinality at least λ and monomorphisms between them. The same techniques also apply to a few other categories. At least to the category of vector spaces of with bounded below dimension and the category of algebraic closed fields of fixed characteristic with bounded below transcendence degree.

<p>Spaces X for which the annihilator of Sλ(X), the λ-super socle of C(X) (i.e., the set of elements of C(X) that cardinality of their cozerosets are less than λ, where λ is a regular cardinal number such that λ≤|X|) is generated by an idempotent are characterized. This enables us to find a topological property equivalent to essentiality of Sλ(X). It is proved that every prime ideal in C(X) containing Sλ(X) is essential and it is an intersection of free prime ideals. Primeness of Sλ(X) is characterized via a fixed maximal ideal of C(X).</p>

For a small abelian category [Formula: see text], Auslander’s formula allows us to express [Formula: see text] as a quotient of the category [Formula: see text] of coherent functors on [Formula: see text]. We consider an abelian category with the added structure of a cohereditary torsion pair [Formula: see text]. We prove versions of Auslander’s formula for the torsion-free class [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text], for the derived torsion-free class [Formula: see text] of the triangulated category [Formula: see text] as well as the induced torsion-free class in the ind-category [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text]. Further, for a given regular cardinal [Formula: see text], we also consider the category [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text]-presentable objects in the functor category [Formula: see text]. Then, under certain conditions, we show that the torsion-free class [Formula: see text] can be recovered as a subquotient of [Formula: see text].

AbstractWe formulate combinatorial principles that combine the square principle with various strong forms of the diamond principle, and prove that the strongest amongst them holds inLfor every infinite cardinal. As an application, we prove that the following two hold inL:1.For every infinite regular cardinalλ, there exists a special λ+-Aronszajn tree whose projection is almost Souslin;2.For every infinite cardinalλ, there exists arespectingλ+-Kurepa tree; Roughly speaking, this means that this λ+-Kurepa tree looks very much like the λ+-Souslin trees that Jensen constructed inL.

AbstractA narrow system is a combinatorial object introduced by Magidor and Shelah in connection with work on the tree property at successors of singular cardinals. In analogy to the tree property, a cardinalκsatisfies thenarrow system propertyif every narrow system of heightκhas a cofinal branch. In this paper, we study connections between the narrow system property, square principles, and forcing axioms. We prove, assuming large cardinals, both that it is consistent that ℵω+1satisfies the narrow system property and$\square _{\aleph _\omega , < \aleph _\omega } $holds and that it is consistent that every regular cardinal satisfies the narrow system property. We introduce natural strengthenings of classical square principles and show how they can be used to produce narrow systems with no cofinal branch. Finally, we show that the Proper Forcing Axiom implies that every narrow system of countable width has a cofinal branch but is consistent with the existence of a narrow system of width ω1with no cofinal branch.

AbstractIn this paper, we consider Foreman’s maximality principle, which says that any nontrivial forcing notion either adds a new real or collapses some cardinals. We prove the consistency of some of its consequences. We observe that it is consistent that every c.c.c. forcing adds a real and that for every uncountable regular cardinal κ, every κ-closed forcing of size 2<κ collapses some cardinal.

AbstractWe present a forcing to obtain a localized version of Local Club Condensation, a generalized Condensation principle introduced by Sy Friedman and the first author in [3] and [5]. This forcing will have properties nicer than the forcings to obtain this localized version that could be derived from the forcings presented in either [3] or [5]. We also strongly simplify the related proofs provided in [3] and [5]. Moreover our forcing will be capable of introducing this localized principle at κ while simultaneously performing collapses to make κ become the successor of any given smaller regular cardinal. This will be particularly useful when κ has large cardinal properties in the ground model. We will apply this to measure how much L-likeness is implied by Local Club Condensation and related principles. We show that Local Club Condensation at κ+ is consistent with ¬☐κ whenever κ is regular and uncountable, generalizing and improving a result of the third author in [14], and that if κ ≥ ω2 is regular, CC(κ+) - Chang’s Conjecture at κ+ - is consistent with Local Club Condensation at κ+, both under suitable large cardinal consistency assumptions.
