Recently released research about deep learning applications related to perception for autonomous driving focuses heavily on the usage of LiDAR point cloud data as input for the neural networks, highlighting the importance of LiDAR technology in the field of Autonomous Driving (AD). In this sense, a great percentage of the vehicle platforms used to create the datasets released for the development of these neural networks, as well as some AD commercial solutions available on the market, heavily invest in an array of sensors, including a large number of sensors as well as several sensor modalities. However, these costs create a barrier to entry for low-cost solutions for the performance of critical perception tasks such as Object Detection and SLAM. This paper explores current vehicle platforms and proposes a low-cost, LiDAR-based test vehicle platform capable of running critical perception tasks (Object Detection and SLAM) in real time. Additionally, we propose the creation of a deep learning-based inference model for Object Detection deployed in a resource-constrained device, as well as a graph-based SLAM implementation, providing important considerations, explored while taking into account the real-time processing requirement and presenting relevant results demonstrating the usability of the developed work in the context of the proposed low-cost platform.

The article reconstructs the relations between two contemporaries, two classics of Russian culture – Alexander Ostrovsky and Fyodor Dostoevsky. The relations are considered in the dynamics of their development. Despite the fact that contemporaries of Ostrovsky and Dostoevsky noted the playwright’s critical perception of Dostoevsky’s work, the emphasis is placed on the friendly nature of their relationship, the proximity of their aesthetic views, and the commonality of their creative framework. The article stresses that the proximity of their aesthetic views on artistic creativity will become the basis for Ostrovsky’s cooperation with the Dostoevsky brothers’ journal “Vremya” (Time). The research undertaken here analyzes the reasons for the termination of this cooperation and the nature of further relations between Ostrovsky and Dostoevsky, their mutual assessment of each other’s creativity. As a result, it is noted that although Dostoevsky did not enter Ostrovsky’s inner circle, in his plays the playwright addressed the issues that worried both of them.

The subject of this research is the reception of the doctrine on the categories and fundamentals of I. Kant’s pure reason in of V. D. Kudryavtsev-Platonov’s teaching on cognition (later referred to as Kudryavtsev). The reception of Kant’s doctrine in Kudryavtsev's philosophy, despite the wide array of literature dedicated to the perception of Kant's ideas in religious-academic philosophy, yet has not been the subject of in-depth historical-philosophical analysis. This defined the goal of this research – establish the degree of Kudryavtsev's understanding of the doctrine on the categories and fundamentals of Kant's pure reason, as well as reveal the nature of reception of this doctrine in Kudryavtsev's philosophy. The scientific consists in introduction of the previously unpublished Kudryavtsev’s manuscript dedicated to the philosophy of Kant. The result consists in the position, according to which Kudryavtsev interpreted Kant's doctrine on the categories and fundamentals of pure reason in the three aspects: 1) the Russian philosopher familiarizes with Kant's theory; 2) he criticizes Kant's doctrine from the perspective of gnoseological realism, focusing particularly on the transcendental deduction of pure categories; 3) Kudryavtsev gives a positive assessment to Kant's apriorism and actively uses it in his own philosophical constructs. It is claimed that the phenomenon of Kudryavtsev's “critical perception” of the doctrine on the categories and fundamentals of Kant's pure reason testifies to not only critical attitude towards the German philosopher, but also that Kantian gnoseological ideas were actively used by Kudryavtsev for solution of his own philosophical tasks.

The article uses new materials to clarify the history of publication and the initial stage of criticism of Andrey Platonov’s story “For Future Use.” In particular, it attempts to bring as much clarity as possible as far as the date of the story’s publication in the magazine Krasnaia Nov’ is concerned and also to clarify the date of Stalin’s acquaintance of with this story. It is argued that Stalin’s attention was drawn to this publication due to its mentioning by critic G.V. Adamovich, in a note published in the emigrant newspaper Poslednie Novosti. Based on the evidence of S.I. Kanatchikov and V.A. Sutyrin, the author clarifies the nature of the “Politburo meeting,” at which the editor of Krasnaia nov’ A.A. Fadeev, was assigned the task of launching a critical campaign against For Future Use. The newspaper Poslednie novosti for some time monitored the situation with the novel and reacted to critical publications on this topic in central newspapers such as Pravda and Izvestia. The article is supplemented with documentary materials: excerpts from the diary of the writer I.V. Evdokimov and relevant notes from the newspaper Poslednie novosti.

Abstract Democrats and Republicans have divergent views about Trump’s personality. Are these perceptions stable over time? We describe the evolution of Trump’s perceived personality (Big Five and Dark Triad) between November 2018 and May 2020 by comparing four samples of American respondents (Mechanical Turk). Trump’s perceived personality is on average extremely stable. Liberals have a much more critical perception of Trump than conservatives. Yet, strong Republicans have an increasingly more negative perception over the time—perhaps because the scandals that have marred the Trump presidency are at odds with conservative “moral foundations.” We also detected a potential demobilization trend for strong Republicans; the more they perceive the president negatively, the lower their likelihood to turn out. The electoral implications of these trends are important.

Abstract The article shows a metaphoric portrayal of the Silesia region. The author analyses metaphors which are being used to describe and characterize this region, namely Silesia as a bridge, a boundary stone, a pear tree, a smaragd and other figures. The analysis shows that the metaphors express the multicultural character of Silesia. They are predominantly very positive assessed. Furthermore, the author analyses metaphors which are being used to characterize the inhabitants of Silesia. The analysis shows that this metaphors express a positive as well as a critical perception of this population.

The article discusses examples of solving exponential inequalities by the inverse action method, as well as a rationalization method that simplifies the solution of exponential inequalities. The purpose of considering these methods is the development of logical thinking in solving mathematical problems. When solving problems, you need good knowledge of theoretical material and the ability to use it, mastery of general approaches to solving problems, and experience in solving exponential inequalities. The process of solving significant inequalities develops creative activity and shapes logical thinking. Logical thinking develops in students the skills of critical perception of the world around them, the desire to understand the causes and essence of the most diverse concepts and phenomena, contributes to academic success.
