Plasma wakefields driven by high power lasers or relativistic particle beams can be orders of magnitude larger than the fields produced in conventional accelerating structures. Since the plasma wakefield is composed not only of accelerating but also of decelerating phases, this paper proposes to utilize the strong decelerating field induced by a laser pulse in the plasma to absorb the beam energy, in a scheme known as the active plasma beam dump. The design of this active plasma beam dump has considered the beam output by the EuPRAXIA facility. Analytical estimates were obtained, and compared with particle-in-cell simulations. The obtained results indicate that this active plasma beam dump can contribute for more compact, safer, and greener accelerators in the near future.

Raman spectroscopy for examination of WC-Co tools in wood-base machining. An attempt is undertaken to apply Raman Spectroscopy for examination of WC-Co tools for wood-base machining. The virgin tools were compared with those implanted with nitrogen, modified by electron beam and plasma beam pulses. The preliminary results suggest a possibility of applying this method for fast, non-destructive analysis of phase composition and phase changes in the microstructure of the investigated tools

The presented paper summarizes the results of the last works of the authors on modeling the processes of heating and evaporation of macroparticles in a plasma-beam system. The emphasis are made on the influence of the parameters of the plasma as well as the electron beam introduced into the plasma on these processes. A detailed analysis of the effects that accelerate or slow down the rate of heating and evaporation of macroparticles has been performed.

This work was attended to the study of the accumulation of deuterium, also to the investigation of the process of capture of deuterium in tungsten samples upon irradiation with a plasma beam. It was shown that after irradiation on the surface, a change in the surface is observed as the development of the relief as a result of nonuniform etching of the surface. The degree of change in the relief and structure of the surface layer of the irradiated samples depends on the irradiation temperature. The accumulation of deuterium tungsten under irradiation with deuterium plasma was studied. The conducted thermal desorption analysis of tungsten samples irradiated with deuterium plasma showed that the tungsten surface is saturated with deuterium. The data obtained by the method of emission spectrometry and thermal desorption spectrometry showed that the majority of the captured deuterium accumulates at a depth under the 7 μm.
